Most Samsung TV legs can be removed, but there is no universal Samsung stand design. Depending on the model, the TV may have two slide-in feet, a central pedestal, or a click-in or specialty stand. The safe method is to identify the exact model, unplug the TV, protect the screen, remove only the stand fasteners, and follow the stand’s intended release direction. Never force a stand that does not move as shown in the model-specific guide.
Before removing the stand
Removing a tabletop stand is different from opening the TV. Do not remove the rear cover or dismantle internal components; Samsung treats internal disassembly as a specialist procedure involving additional precautions and tools. See Samsung’s disassembly information for the distinction.

- Find the model number. Check the rear label, original box, receipt, or the TV’s support/about/device-information menu. Menu names vary by model and software version, so the rear label or original documentation is more reliable.
- Get a second adult. Large, thin, curved, premium, or specialty TVs should not be flipped or held by one person.
- Prepare the surface. Use a wide, stable table covered with a clean blanket or padded TV-moving mat. Remove tools and debris from the area. The display must not rest directly on a hard floor or bear weight in its center.
- Disconnect everything. Turn the TV off, unplug it, and remove HDMI, antenna, optical, Ethernet, USB, and other cables. If your TV uses a One Connect Box, stand removal does not remove or replace that box.
- Gather basic tools. A correctly sized Phillips screwdriver, flashlight, and small container or magnetic parts tray are usually sufficient. Do not begin with a drill or high-torque power driver.
Samsung recommends a large flat work surface and soft protection for handling smaller sets. For televisions 75 inches or larger, Samsung’s setup guidance describes keeping the TV in the bottom of its shipping box during stand installation; for removal or wall mounting, use the model guide and several helpers when appropriate. See Samsung’s current TV setup guidance.

- Two separate feet: Left and right feet commonly slide into rails or slots and may be held by screws, clips, or both.
- Central pedestal: A single neck and base may be secured by several screws and a locating tab or guide rail.
- Click-in feet: Some Samsung stands do not use screws at all. They release by sliding or pulling in a particular direction.
- Frame-style or specialty stand: The Frame, Sero, Terrace, hospitality, ultra-large, and other unusual models may use proprietary brackets, covers, or locking systems.
Samsung explicitly says that some stands are screwed on while others click into the TV. If you cannot identify the release mechanism, stop and open the Quick Setup Guide for the exact model.
Removing two separate feet
- With help, place the TV screen-down on the padded surface. Support the frame or bezel as permitted by the model’s instructions; do not press on the active display.
- Use a flashlight to find the fasteners at the underside or rear of each foot. Some are recessed.
- Remove only the screws marked for the stand. Do not remove random rear-cover screws or screws near the electronics.
- Support each foot while removing its final fastener so it cannot drop or twist the plastic mounting area.
- Slide or pull the foot along its guide rail, following the direction shown by the foot and installation guide. Do not lever it against the panel or rear shell.
- If the foot is clipped in, release the clip gently. If it does not move with light, straight force, stop rather than prying.
On some Samsung models, the feet slide into the bottom of the TV and removal is simply the reverse of installation. Samsung also notes that stand screws should be tightened from the lowest ones upward during installation on certain models; do not assume that screw order or screw count applies to every TV. See the Samsung installation example.
Removing a central pedestal stand
A central stand may remain engaged even after its screws are removed.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Remove the visible stand screws specified by the model guide. A Samsung support example uses three or five screws, but that count is model-specific.
- Have the second person support the pedestal while you work.
- If the stand has a vertical guide, pull it straight downward as directed.
- Lift the stand to disengage its locating tab from the guide hole.
- Withdraw it without twisting sharply or prying against the rear housing.
This downward-then-upward movement is an example of one Samsung stand design, not a universal procedure. The model-specific sequence is authoritative. See Samsung’s stand-removal instructions.

Click-in and slide-in stands
If there are no visible screws, the stand may be held by a click mechanism, hidden fastener, underside screw, decorative cover, or proprietary bracket. It may also have already been partly removed.
- Inspect the underside and rear edge with a flashlight.
- Check the Quick Setup Guide and exact model support page.
- Look for arrows, guide rails, retaining clips, or release latches.
- Apply force only in the indicated direction.
- Never insert a screwdriver into an unexplained hole or pry between the screen and rear cover.
Do not confuse the absence of screws with permission to pull harder. If the movement does not match the guide, stop.
If the legs will not come off
| Symptom | Possible cause | Safe response |
|---|---|---|
| No screws are visible | Click-in design, recessed fastener, cover, or bracket | Check the exact model guide; do not pry. |
| The stand moves but will not release | A guide tab, rail, or latch remains engaged | Reverse the installation movement with straight, gentle force. |
| A screw will not turn | Wrong bit or excessive tightening | Use the correct Phillips size, press firmly downward, and turn slowly by hand. |
| A screw head is stripped | Damaged fastener | Stop before damaging the insert or housing; consider a technician. |
| One foot is loose | Loose or missing fastener, damaged rail, or cracked mount | Do not use the TV unsupported. Identify the correct replacement hardware or arrange repair. |
| The TV rocks after reinstallation | Feet swapped, incompletely seated, or screws tightened unevenly | Recheck left/right orientation and seating against the model guide. |
A stripped stand screw is not a good reason to drill casually into the TV. Avoid heat, lubricants, knives, flat-head screwdrivers used as pry bars, and aggressive extraction methods near the display and electronics. If extraction is necessary, have a qualified repair professional handle it.

Can you use the TV without its legs?
Do not place a Samsung TV upright on furniture without its legs or pedestal. Once the tabletop stand is removed, the TV needs a compatible wall mount or another manufacturer-approved, engineered support system.

- Important: Watch the video and learn the”Designed for" details listed below!
- Designed for concrete, brick and wood studs wall (single stud).
- Designed for TVs up to 80 lbs (36.3 KG) and display sized 26" - 55" (66 CM - 140 CM).
- Designed for VESA sized from 3.9'' x 3.9'' through 15.7'' x 15.7''.
- Comfortable View with tilt range from +10° to -5°.
Removing the legs does not automatically make a TV wall-mountable. Before buying a bracket, verify the exact model’s:
- VESA hole pattern;
- TV weight and the bracket’s weight rating;
- screw diameter and usable screw length;
- screen-size and clearance requirements;
- wall construction and suitable anchors; and
- cable and ventilation clearance.
Stand holes are not VESA holes
Stand holes are usually near the lower edge or bottom of the TV and attach the supplied feet or pedestal. VESA holes form a rectangular pattern on the rear and attach a wall-mount bracket. They are not interchangeable. Never install a wall bracket using stand slots or stand screws.
All dimensions and hardware are model-specific. For example, documentation for one Samsung Q9FN series specifies a 400 × 400 mm VESA pattern and M8 × 1.25 screws with a defined usable length range. Those figures must not be applied to another Samsung TV. Samsung manuals commonly recommend using all four VESA screws where applicable and warn that an unsuitable mount can cause injury or damage. Check the model documentation and the mount manufacturer’s instructions.
Some specialty products and mounts have additional requirements. For example, a Terrace wall-mount guide includes model/accessory-specific instructions concerning stand installation holes and covers. Do not generalize those instructions to ordinary Samsung TVs; use the guide for your exact set.

When professional help is the safer choice
Arrange qualified help if the TV is exceptionally large, heavy, expensive, curved, unusually designed, already damaged, or being wall-mounted. Professional help is also appropriate when the stand remains stuck after all specified fasteners are removed, a screw head is stripped, the rear housing is cracked, or you are working alone.
Samsung distinguishes tabletop setup from wall-mount installation in its US service information, and service availability and restrictions vary by location and wall type. See Samsung’s delivery and installation information.
Store the removed stand correctly
- Put all screws and clips in a labeled bag.
- Keep left and right feet separate if they are different.
- Photograph the original assembly before packing the parts.
- Store the stand, manual, and accessories together.
- Keep the original stand even if you wall-mount the TV; it may be needed for moving, resale, return, or future relocation.
- Replace missing screws only with model-approved hardware. Do not guess solely from diameter.
Replacement stands and alternatives
If the original legs are missing or damaged, start with the exact model’s Samsung support page or an authorized parts channel. A similar-looking stand may have the wrong guide tabs, spacing, height, screw length, or load rating.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I remove Samsung TV legs without a screwdriver?
Sometimes. A click-in or slide-in stand may release without screws, but the correct direction is model-specific. If the feet do not release easily, consult the exact Quick Setup Guide rather than forcing them.
Are Samsung TV stand screws universal?
No. Screw diameter, length, thread, and quantity vary by model and stand. Use the original hardware or model-approved replacements.
Should I remove the legs before taking a wall-mounted TV off the wall?
Usually, no. Follow the wall-mount and TV instructions and have help supporting the set. Do not attempt to remove residual hardware while the TV is insecurely supported on the wall.
Can a Samsung Frame TV use different legs?
Possibly, but Frame-style and decorative stands are model-specific. Verify compatibility with the exact model and Samsung’s parts or support information before purchasing replacements.
What if I lost the original screws?
Do not substitute screws based only on appearance or diameter. Use the exact model’s documentation or an authorized Samsung parts source to identify the correct hardware.
