There is no universal standing-desk reset. First identify the manufacturer and handset, then follow that model’s procedure: UPLIFT, Vari and Fully Jarvis use different button holds and completion signals. Clear the area below the desk before moving it, and stop if it becomes uneven.
Before you reset the desk
- Identify the desk and handset. Find the make, model and controller type; instructions can vary even within a brand. Do not combine steps from different brands.
- Clear the space beneath and around the desktop. Resetting may send the desk to its lowest position.
- Check cables where the manufacturer instructs you to. A displayed error may indicate a connection or load issue, not simply a need to reset.
- Watch the display and desk movement. Use the manufacturer’s stated completion signal rather than releasing after an estimated time.
How to reset a UPLIFT desk
UPLIFT’s current quick-reset instructions apply when the desk has an operating issue, has lost power or been unplugged, is unresponsive, or shows an error. Clear the area under the desk first. The procedure and its completion signals are described on UPLIFT’s troubleshooting page.

- Press and hold DOWN for 10 seconds. An ordinary display keypad should show “ASr”; an Advanced Paddle Keypad should show “RESET.”
- Release the button, then press and hold DOWN again.
- Keep holding until the desk lowers slightly, rises slightly and stops. That movement indicates the reset is complete.
UPLIFT says 70% of control boxes returned to it for replacement are not defective and would have been fixed by the quick reset. This is the manufacturer’s own figure; the page does not state a publication year, and it is not an independently verified rate.

How to reset a Vari desk
Vari’s current panel-code guidance starts with checking that the cables are securely connected. Its support page also separates instructions for desks purchased before June 1, 2020; owners of those desks should use the older-desk section rather than assume current codes apply. - If an error code is displayed, hold the down arrow for about five seconds, until “RST” flashes, then release.
- Press and hold DOWN again as the desk descends to its lowest position and begins to rise slightly.
- Continue holding until the display reads “25.0,” then release.
Not every Vari error calls for a reset. Vari identifies H01 as motor overuse: after more than two minutes of continuous raising or lowering, the desk temporarily stops to protect the mechanism. Stop adjusting it and wait 20 minutes before resuming. Other codes can relate to a failed leg, overload, data or connection problems, a stuck button, or height settings.
How to reset a Fully Jarvis desk
Jarvis handsets differ, so use the instructions for the handset on your desk. Before troubleshooting, remove obstructions and check that the control box is firmly attached and the correct leg cables are being used. The Jarvis troubleshooting guide includes handset-specific reset directions.

If the guide calls for reseating cables, unplug the desk from power first. Disconnect the under-desk cables, including the leg cables at both ends, reconnect them firmly, and restore power. Then follow the guide’s down-button instructions for your handset. Keep holding through the desk’s lowest position and the slight dip and rebound; some handset versions show “RESET” or “RST” and use different retry durations.

What if you have a FlexiSpot or another brand?
Use the exact model’s official manual rather than borrowing another manufacturer’s reset sequence. FlexiSpot’s manual index lists several models, including E7, E7 Pro, E8, E5, Q8 and E2Q, but the index itself does not provide their reset steps. Select your model and follow its manual. The same principle applies to other makes: button timing, display prompts and completion signals are not universal.

If the reset does not work
- Check the manufacturer’s error-code guidance for your exact model and handset. A persistent code may point to a cable, load, button, motor or height-setting issue.
- Do not keep repeating reset attempts if the desk remains unresponsive, shows a persistent error or moves unevenly. Stop and contact the manufacturer’s support team.
- Do not force the legs manually or assume a replacement control box will fit. Parts such as control boxes, handsets and leg cables depend on the desk and controller; diagnose the problem and confirm compatibility with the manufacturer first.
