A split-system outdoor condenser is connected to refrigerant lines; relocating it can involve regulated refrigerant-circuit work, so hire a qualified HVAC technician rather than disconnecting those lines yourself.
Which kind of air conditioner are you moving?

How to move a removable window air conditioner
These steps are general safety guidance, not a substitute for your unit’s instructions. LG’s LP6000ER owner manual, for example, covers particular models and says, “Two or more people are needed to move and install the unit.” Check your own manual for its model-specific removal and handling directions.
Before you remove it
- Find the manual for the exact model and review its removal instructions.
- Switch the unit off and unplug it before removal, as directed for the LG models covered by the cited manual.
- Clear a safe route from the window to the place where the unit will be set down. Arrange a helper; do not assume a unit is safe to lift alone.
- Be prepared for water left in the base pan. The LG manual warns about residual water and careful lifting.
During removal and carrying
Follow the manual’s removal sequence and maintain a firm grip as the unit comes free. Keep it from falling, and take care around the metal coil fins, which can be sharp. Do not use a generic lift or carry method in place of the instructions for your unit.
After removal and during storage
For the LG models covered by its manual, the storage instruction is to keep the unit flat on its base rather than standing it on an end. Check your own manual before choosing a storage position; instructions may differ by model.

When to call an HVAC technician
Do not disconnect, cut, or otherwise work on refrigerant lines to move a condenser or mini-split yourself. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says Section 608 certification is required for covered activities that can compromise the refrigerant circuit, including attaching or detaching hoses and gauges, adding or removing refrigerant or components, and cutting refrigerant lines. EPA rules also prohibit knowingly venting covered refrigerants while servicing, repairing, or disposing of air-conditioning equipment.
For a relocation that involves the refrigerant circuit, contact a qualified HVAC technician. EPA guidance describes federal refrigerant-handling requirements; it does not establish local permitting or electrical-code requirements.

Reinstalling a window unit
Use the unit’s own installation instructions and verify that the support method is suitable for both the appliance and the window. A support bracket may be specified for some models: the cited LG manual includes one in its instructions, but that does not mean a bracket will fit or be appropriate for every unit. Check the manual for the model and confirm compatibility before reinstalling.
