How to find a licensed electrician in Atlanta
In Georgia, the state Board licenses electrical contractors, not individual electricians. Do you need an electrical permit in Atlanta?
Do not assume every electrical job either needs a permit or is exempt. Atlanta’s requirements depend on the work category and project address. The city’s online technical-permit page provides a route to residential and commercial electrical permits and reinspection permits. Check the project against the city’s current process and confirm with the contractor who will submit any application and coordinate inspections.
Can an electrician install a Level 2 EV charger at your home?
Atlanta’s electrical permit application identifies Level II EVSE installation as a permit category, and the city publishes an EVSE permit application and an EV charger affidavit for a licensed electrician’s installation and clearance attestation. Ask a qualified contractor to assess whether the charger and proposed installation suit your home, and clarify how the permit and required documentation will be handled. Do not assume a particular charger will be compatible with every home or that installation can be done safely without professional assessment.
