Stretch covers and flat multi-use lids serve different purposes; neither style is a universal fit. Reusable lids are marketed as alternatives to disposable wrap, but the available product information does not establish their comparative environmental impact.
Start with the containers you need to cover
Before choosing a set, measure the openings or rims of the bowls, jars, pots, and dishes you use most. Compare those measurements with each lid’s listed dimensions, and check whether the product is designed for the container shapes you have. A lid described as universal may still be too small, too large, or unsuitable for a particular rim.
Stretch-style covers
Stretch covers are intended to expand over a container. The listing gives three lid diameters; compare those specific sizes with your containers rather than assuming the set will cover every opening. Check the Costco listing for dimensions and stated uses.

These specifications come from product pages, not comparative testing. ThermoWorks also lists BPA-free and PFAS-free claims; those are seller claims, not independent laboratory findings. Review ThermoWorks’ product specifications.
Will a stretch lid stay on a slippery container?
Fit and sealing conditions matter. An informal reader discussion asks whether stretch lids remain reliable on slippery containers, but an anecdotal question does not show how often lids fail. Check that the lid’s listed range suits the container rim, and assess the fit on the actual container you plan to cover. The product information cited here does not provide comparative sealing tests or establish performance on slippery rims.

Check care and temperature limits for the exact lid
Do not treat one silicone lid’s rating as a rule for all silicone lids. The three listings differ: Norpro states a range and refrigerator, freezer, and microwave use; Costco lists microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safety without a temperature range; ThermoWorks states a 600°F limit and dishwasher cleaning. A rating for one appliance or condition does not imply permission for another. Follow the care instructions and limits for the exact product, and do not infer oven use where the listing does not state it.

Norpro and Costco present reusable lids as alternatives to disposable covers such as plastic wrap or foil. Reuse is the intended benefit, but the product information does not quantify manufacturing impacts, how many uses are needed to offset them, end-of-life handling, or environmental performance against disposable alternatives.
