A dual-tap kegerator has two dispensing faucets, but that does not mean it fits two kegs—or that each keg can have its own pressure setting. Choose by checking the exact keg combinations, regulator setup, dimensions and ventilation requirements for the model. The Danby DKC052BSL2DB and Kegco HBK163B-2 illustrate how much those details can vary.
What does “dual tap” mean?
“Dual tap” means the kegerator has two faucets. It does not specify how many kegs fit inside, which keg types the interior accommodates, or whether the two beer lines can run at different pressures. Those depend on the cabinet and the dispensing hardware supplied with the particular model.
That distinction matters if you are looking for a unit that will hold two 1/4-barrel kegs. A two-faucet label alone cannot answer that question: check the manufacturer’s capacity list for the exact model and the dimensions or shape of your kegs.
Compare keg capacity and couplers before buying
Manufacturers describe capacity in terms of particular keg types and combinations, not simply a universal keg count. For example, Danby lists one full-size half barrel, one straight pony quarter barrel, one slim quarter barrel, or two slim sixth barrels for its DKC052BSL2DB. Kegco lists one full-size, pony or quarter-slim keg, two 5-gallon commercial kegs, three ball-lock kegs, or two pin-lock kegs for its HBK163B-2. These are model-specific capacity claims; neither listing establishes that the other model accepts the same combinations.

Specifications above come from the manufacturers’ cited pages and are not a head-to-head test. Before ordering, confirm that your exact keg will fit alongside any internal components, then verify the product’s current configuration, manual, availability and warranty.
Match the keg valve to the coupler
A kegerator must have compatible hardware for the keg valve. Danby lists an American Sankey coupler; Kegco lists ball-lock homebrew tap sets. If your keg uses a different valve style, confirm whether the right coupler or connection is included or must be sourced separately. Do not assume that two faucets mean the package includes two couplers suited to your kegs.
Check whether both lines can use different pressure
Two faucets do not establish independent pressure control. The regulator configuration determines whether you can set separate pressures: a dual-gauge, two-product regulator permits separate settings, while a single-product regulator supplies both kegs at the same pressure, according to the Kegerators.com double-tap guide. Check the regulator and splitter supplied with the exact unit; a gauge count by itself may not tell you how the gas lines are configured.

- DIGITAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL: With a digital LED display and intuitive controls, it is easy to set and verify the internal temperature of this home brew keg refrigerator. No more guessing what temperature the number on a manual dial will produce - simply press the up or down button, and the temperature is adjusted by one degree. You can view the temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius on the clear digital display.
- WIDE ENOUGH TEMPERATURE RANGE TO DISPENSE OR FERMENT: Fan-forced cooling provides even cooling throughout the kegerator, and gives it one of the coldest temperature ranges of any keg cooler on the market today. The temperature can be set as low as 32 degrees to dispense ice cold home-brewed beer, or as high as 75 degrees to act as a fermentation chamber for your fermenting brew.
- LARGE INTERIOR: Store up to three Cornelius ball lock kegs in the HBK309S-2's spacious interior, or use it to hold a 6 gallon bucket or carboy of fermenting homebrew. This keg refrigerator can even be used to store food and other beverages! It measures 33.25" H x 23.6" W x 23.6" D.
- DEEP CHILL FUNCTION: At the push of a button, you can activate a Deep Chill function that forces the compressor to work continuously for up to 24 hours, quickly cooling down a warm beer keg. Once the keg has reached the desired temperature, you can push the Deep Chill button again to return the unit to it's normal operation.
- PLEASE NOTE: This is a homebrew kegerator and includes ball lock keg couplers for homebrew kegs; these couplers are not for tapping commercial D system kegs. You can buy the D system coupler separately.
This matters when serving two different beverages or when the kegs call for different serving conditions. Kegco lists a double-gauge regulator with splitter, but confirm the actual setup and adjustment capability for the model configuration you are buying.

Controls and ranges vary by model. Danby lists mechanical temperature control for the DKC052BSL2DB. Kegco lists digital settings from 32°F to 75°F for the HBK163B-2 and describes its higher range as useful for fermentation. A control’s available range does not mean every setting is suitable for every beverage: check the requirements of the drink and keg you intend to use.
For two different drinks, consider whether the same cabinet temperature will suit both. The comparison guide says nitro cold brew needs nitrogen or beer gas and a stout faucet; it says kombucha and wine can pour on standard CO2. Verify the gas, keg, temperature and faucet requirements for your actual setup rather than treating those general examples as a guarantee of compatibility.

Measure the location and follow ventilation instructions
Measure the intended space against the unit’s external dimensions, and allow for the door to open and kegs to be loaded. For the Danby DKC052BSL2DB, the listed dimensions are 20 1/16 inches wide, 25.25 inches deep and 33.5 inches high. Danby identifies it as a freestanding indoor appliance. Built-in placement is possible only when the manual’s clearance and ventilation requirements are met, and the front must remain open for airflow. A cabinet that fits the opening may still be unsuitable if it blocks ventilation.
Do not assume that a unit described for commercial and residential use is suitable for outdoor installation. Confirm indoor or outdoor suitability and placement instructions in the documentation for the specific model.

Included parts differ, so compare the package list against your keg and gas setup. Danby lists an American Sankey coupler, CO2 tank and hardware; its tank requires charging. Kegco lists two ball-lock homebrew tap sets and a double-gauge regulator with splitter. Confirm the exact contents and compatibility before purchase rather than assuming a cylinder is ready to use or that the included lines fit every keg.

Beer lines and faucets need cleaning as part of regular use. The cited product pages do not establish comparative cleaning difficulty or a maintenance interval for these models. Follow the chosen unit’s care instructions and the cleaning guidance for your beverage and dispensing hardware; if buying a line-cleaning kit, check that it is compatible with your setup.
Troubleshoot foam methodically
Danby’s product FAQ for the DKC052BSL2DB lists four possible checks for foamy beer: whether the keg has settled, whether the beer is too warm, whether pressure is set properly, and whether the line is kinked. Danby recommends 8–10 pounds for that model. That figure is model-specific, not universal pressure advice for other kegerators, beers or beverages. Use the selected unit’s instructions and the beverage’s requirements when adjusting pressure.
Quick Recap
- Check the keg: If it was recently moved, allow it to settle before pouring again.
- Check temperature: Confirm that the beer is at the intended serving temperature.
- Check pressure: Verify the regulator setting against the kegerator and beverage instructions; do not apply Danby’s model-specific recommendation automatically to another setup.
- Inspect the line: Look for a kink or obstruction that could interfere with dispensing.
A practical model-selection checklist
- Identify the keg type and size you actually plan to use, including whether you need room for two 1/4-barrel kegs.
- Match the manufacturer’s listed capacity to the exact keg combination; do not infer capacity from the two-faucet label.
- Confirm that the included couplers or tap sets match the keg valves.
- Check whether both lines need the same pressure or separate settings, and verify the regulator and splitter configuration.
- Compare the temperature controls with the requirements of the beverages you plan to serve.
- Measure the installation space, door clearance and loading access; follow the model’s placement and ventilation instructions.
- Confirm the current parts list, cleaning guidance, warranty and availability with the manufacturer or seller before purchasing.
