Use Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL) pages in this order: its Route Map for the planned station sequences, List of Corridor 1, Stations for the Priority Corridor labels, and Inprogress for sections still described as under construction. Then look for a dated notice that explicitly confirms passenger service, stations served, and operating hours. A Bihar government release dated June 29, 2026, said an extension to Malahi Pakri was to be inaugurated on July 2, but the reviewed official material does not confirm the resulting passenger timetable. Treat an inauguration announcement or a “working / constructed” label as a project update, not proof that trains are carrying passengers today.
Which official pages should you check?
Patna Metro information is split across several pages, and each page answers a different question. Start with the route map, then compare the construction-status pages with a dated service announcement. This order prevents a common mistake: reading a planned alignment or a civil-work label as if it were a live timetable.

| PMRCL Contact Us | Last-mile verification | The corporation’s current email and helpline details for checking service before travel |
These pages can change independently. A route map may continue to show the full planned network while a status page uses construction terminology, so check the page date and wording rather than inferring that a completed civil-work entry equals an operating station.
What routes and stations does PMRCL publish?
The current PMRCL route map describes two corridors. The station order below follows that map, accessed October 13, 2026. Together, the map lists 26 planned stations and 32.50 km of alignment. That combined total is an arithmetic summary of the two corridor figures; it is not a separate operating statistic.

Corridor 1: Danapur–Mithapur–Khemni Chak
| Measure | PMRCL route-map value |
|---|---|
| Length | 17.93 km |
| Stations | 14 |
| Elevated section | 7.42 km with eight stations |
| Underground section | 10.51 km with six stations |
| Station sequence | Danapur; Saguna More; RPS More; Patliputra; Rukanpura; Raja Bazar; Patna Zoo; Vikas Bhawan; Vidyut Bhawan; Patna Station (interchange); Mithapur; Ramkrishna Nagar; Jaganpura; Khemni Chak (interchange) |
This is the west-to-east corridor shown on the map, ending at Khemni Chak. Patna Station is the interchange identified in the route-map station sequence, and Khemni Chak is the other interchange point. The map’s elevated and underground values add to the stated 17.93 km, while the eight-plus-six station split adds to the 14-station total.
Corridor 2: Patna Railway Station–Gandhi Maidan–Patliputra Bus Terminal
| Measure | PMRCL route-map value |
|---|---|
| Length | 14.57 km |
| Stations | 12 |
| Elevated section | 6.49 km with five stations |
| Underground section | 8.08 km with seven stations |
| Station sequence | Patna Station (interchange); Akashvani; Gandhi Maidan; PMCH; University; Moin Ul Haq Stadium; Rajendra Nagar; Malahi Pakri; Khemni Chak (interchange); Bhoothnath; Zero Mile; Patliputra Bus Terminal |
Patna Station and Khemni Chak are the interchange stations shown for this corridor as well. The two corridors therefore share those transfer points in the published plan. The second corridor’s five elevated and seven underground stations account for all 12 stations listed on the map.

How to compare the two corridors
| Comparison | Corridor 1 | Corridor 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Published endpoints | Danapur to Khemni Chak, via Mithapur | Patna Railway Station to Patliputra Bus Terminal, via Gandhi Maidan |
| Map length | 17.93 km | 14.57 km |
| Planned stations | 14 | 12 |
| Elevated / underground | 7.42 km / 10.51 km | 6.49 km / 8.08 km |
| Published transfer points | Patna Station and Khemni Chak | Patna Station and Khemni Chak |
Use the station sequence, not just the endpoint names, when checking a journey. For example, a trip involving Patna Station and Khemni Chak may touch both corridors, but the route map alone does not say that every planned station is currently open or that a train is running through the entire alignment.
Station-name variations to watch for
PMRCL does not use identical spelling on every page. You may see Khemni Chak or Khemnichak, Bhootnath or Bhoothnath, and Patliputra Bus Terminal or ISBT Patna. When searching the site, try both forms and rely on the wording of the specific page you are reading. The variations do not, by themselves, describe separate stations. “Patna Station” and “Patna Railway Station” can likewise appear in descriptive text for the same interchange location.
How to check a route before you travel
- Open the Route Map. Use the PMRCL map as the baseline for the planned network. Select the corridor that contains your origin and destination, and read the stations in order rather than relying on a third-party graphic. Note the exact endpoint and spelling shown on the map.
- Count the stops on the plan. Mark your origin, destination and any intermediate station. This confirms that you have selected the right corridor and helps expose a similarly named station on another page.
- Identify an interchange. On the published sequences, Patna Station and Khemni Chak are the transfer points. If your origin and destination lie on different corridors, verify that the interchange is included in the service notice you will use for the trip. A transfer shown on a plan is not proof that a connecting train is operating.
- Check the Priority Corridor page. Open the List of Corridor 1, Stations. The page reviewed on October 13, 2026, groups Malahi Pakri, Khemni Chak, Bhootnath Road, Zero Mile, and ISBT Patna under “Currently Working / Constructed Stations.” That phrase combines work and construction language; it does not state that passengers can board there.
- Check the Inprogress page. Compare the map with PMRCL’s Inprogress listing. It includes the broader Corridor 1 station list and Corridor 2 entries for Patna Station, Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, University, Moin-Ul-Haq Stadium, and Rajendra Nagar. Record the exact label and date because a status page can lag behind physical work or use “in progress” as a project category.
- Find a dated passenger-service notice. Look for language that names the stations actually served, the start date, and operating hours. A project review, construction bulletin, or inauguration announcement is not enough unless it also confirms passenger operations.
- Check for exceptions. Even a service notice may cover only a short extension, selected stations, trial running, or restricted hours. Look for words such as “commercial operation,” “passenger service,” “temporary closure,” “Sunday schedule,” or “until further notice.” Do not assume a ceremonial opening covers the whole corridor.
- Verify directly when the notice is unclear. Use the current details on PMRCL’s Contact Us page. Ask whether trains are carrying passengers on the exact station pair you need, which stations are open, and the first and last train times for your travel date.
How to interpret opening and construction labels
Use the source’s category precisely. The following distinctions prevent the most common route-checking error: treating a project milestone as a timetable.
| Wording or source type | Safe interpretation | What you still need to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Route Map | Planned corridor alignment and station sequence | Whether any or all stations are open to passengers |
| “Currently Working / Constructed Stations” | PMRCL’s Priority Corridor work or construction label | Passenger-service start date, stations served, fares, and hours |
| Inprogress listing | A section or station remains in PMRCL’s in-progress project list | Whether construction has since advanced and whether service has started |
| Inauguration announcement | A public opening event was scheduled or announced | Confirmation that trains subsequently began carrying passengers |
| Explicit service notice | The strongest evidence of passenger operation when it names the start date, stations, and timetable | Any later closures, restricted hours, or changed station coverage |
If two official pages appear inconsistent, do not average the information or assume the newer-looking diagram is a timetable. Use the most recent dated service notice for travel, while retaining the route map for the planned alignment. Save the notice URL or publication date so you can check whether a later update supersedes it.

What is known about the Malahi Pakri opening?
The Chief Minister Secretariat’s June 29, 2026 release records a statement attributed to Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary: “02 जुलाई 2026 को मलाहीपकड़ी तक के मेट्रो रेल परियोजना के विस्तारीकरण का लोकार्पण किया जायेगा”. In English, the extension of the metro rail project up to Malahi Pakri was to be inaugurated on July 2, 2026. The wording is an announcement recorded on June 29; it is not a subsequent confirmation of passenger service.

For a current answer to “which Patna Metro stations are open,” look for a later PMRCL or government notice that explicitly says service began and identifies the stations in operation. The official pages reviewed for this guide do not establish which stations currently carry passengers or publish current operating hours. If that notice is absent, confirm with PMRCL rather than relying on the announced inauguration date.
Why construction progress and opening dates can diverge
A Bihar government project review dated May 2, 2026, reported practical and technical difficulties, cost increases, and delays. Those points explain why a station can appear in a construction or “working” list without having a dependable public timetable. They also mean that an older completion expectation should not override a newer status notice. Construction completion, safety approvals, trial running, a ceremonial inauguration and commercial passenger operation are separate milestones.
The same review discussed a proposed personal rapid transit system for airport connectivity. It was presented as a proposal, not as an operating metro connection. Do not plan an airport trip on the assumption that the metro already provides that link. Check the current airport-transfer options separately and allow a fallback connection if PMRCL cannot confirm service.
Historical project figures versus the current route map
The Prime Minister’s Office cabinet-approval description gives historical approval context: an estimated project cost of ₹13,365.77 crore and a plan to complete the project in five years. Those figures belong to the approval description, not to a current completion forecast. The later Bihar review reported cost increases and delays, while the PMRCL route map now provides the route lengths and station counts to use for a present-day route explainer.
| Figure | How to use it | Source |
|---|---|---|
| ₹13,365.77 crore estimated cost | Historical cabinet-approval context | Prime Minister’s Office approval description |
| Five-year completion plan | Original project-planning target, not a current delivery estimate | Prime Minister’s Office approval description |
| Cost increases and delays | Later review context when assessing old schedules | Bihar government review of May 2, 2026 |
Do not compare the ₹13,365.77 crore approval estimate with a current budget and call the difference a fare, subsidy or per-kilometre cost. The approval page and later review describe different points in the project’s history. For route planning, the current map’s 17.93 km and 14.57 km figures are more relevant than the original five-year target.
What the published material does not yet establish
Do not fill gaps in the official pages with assumptions or social-media graphics. No independently sourced figure in the reviewed material establishes:
- Current daily passenger service across either complete corridor.
- A confirmed list of stations open to the public after the announced Malahi Pakri inauguration.
- Fares, first-train or last-train times, frequency, or daily ridership.
- A currently operating metro connection to the airport.
- Travel times between any station pair.
- Whether every listed interchange permits an immediate, same-platform transfer.
These are exactly the details to request from PMRCL if you are making a time-sensitive journey. A route map can answer where a line is intended to go, but only a current service communication can answer whether you can board, how much you will pay and when the next train runs.

A practical pre-departure checklist
- Route: Match your origin and destination to the station order on the PMRCL Route Map.
- Interchange: Check whether your journey requires Patna Station or Khemni Chak and whether the service notice includes that transfer.
- Status: Read both the Priority Corridor page and the Inprogress page, preserving their exact wording.
- Date: Prefer a notice published for your travel date or later; do not treat the July 2, 2026 inauguration announcement as a timetable by itself.
- Hours: Confirm first and last trains directly when no official timetable is posted.
- Names: Try spelling variants such as Khemni Chak/Khemnichak, Bhootnath/Bhoothnath and Patliputra Bus Terminal/ISBT Patna when searching PMRCL pages.
- Station coverage: Ask whether the train serves the complete corridor or only an opened extension and selected stations.
- Fallback: If passenger service cannot be confirmed, arrange another local connection instead of assuming the planned metro route is usable.
- Evidence: Save the date and wording of the notice you relied on, especially if your journey is early in the morning or late at night.
How to keep checking after an opening announcement
For a reliable update trail, bookmark the four relevant pages rather than a single screenshot. Revisit the Route Map when you need the planned alignment, the Priority Corridor page for its construction labels, and Inprogress for entries that remain under development. Then search PMRCL’s notices or contact channel for an explicit service statement. Record the publication date, stations named, and hours; those details let you detect a later extension, temporary closure, or timetable change.
Check the pages again immediately before a first trip and whenever your origin or destination changes. A notice about Malahi Pakri, for example, may not answer whether Danapur, Patna Station, Khemni Chak or Patliputra Bus Terminal is included in the same passenger service. Likewise, a page using “constructed” may describe a completed structure while trains await another approval or operating decision.
This method separates four different facts that are often blended together: where the line is planned, what PMRCL says is being worked on, what has been announced for inauguration, and what is actually available to passengers. Only the last category answers whether you can board a train today.
Quick route-reference table
| If you need to travel between | What to look for on the map | What must be confirmed separately |
|---|---|---|
| Danapur and Khemni Chak | Corridor 1 sequence through Mithapur | Whether the full 14-station corridor is carrying passengers |
| Patna Station and Gandhi Maidan | Corridor 2 via Akashvani | Whether those named stations are in the current service section |
| Patna Station and Khemni Chak | Published interchange relationship between the corridors | Whether a same-day transfer and through service are operating |
| Khemni Chak and Patliputra Bus Terminal | Corridor 2 sequence via Bhoothnath and Zero Mile | Whether the extension beyond Khemni Chak is open to passengers |
The table is a reading aid, not a timetable. Confirm every row against a dated PMRCL service announcement or the corporation’s contact channel.
