Baluchon’s Midgard is a 6 m (20 ft) tiny home on a double-axle trailer, with a living-room sofa bed for guests and a compact desk-and-chair work area. New Atlas reported the custom home in 2024; its layout also includes a kitchen, bathroom, storage loft and double-bed loft.
How does the 20-foot layout work?
The arrangement puts daily activities into shared spaces rather than giving each one a separate room. New Atlas’s June 28, 2024 report describes the living room as both a place to work and a place for guests to sleep. It does not provide room dimensions or measurements of usable desk space, so the layout should be understood as a reported design, not a measured efficiency result.
Living room: work by day, guest bed when needed
A small office area with a desk and chair sits in the living room, alongside a sofa bed. The same room can therefore support work and occasional guest sleeping, though the report does not describe a privacy screen or a separate office enclosure.
Kitchen and bathroom
The kitchen has a fold-away table that serves as a small dining spot. A sliding door provides access to the bathroom. The report does not give details about appliances, fixtures or storage capacity.

Two lofts, with different jobs
One loft is for storage. The other is the main sleeping area, with a double bed and storage behind the headboard. New Atlas describes the bedroom loft as low-ceilinged and reached by wooden steps, a practical trade-off for putting the bed above the main living space.
Who is the Midgard for?
The home was commissioned by a couple as an independent garden living space for their son. That makes it a specific family project, not evidence of a standard model currently available to order. The report identifies French builder Baluchon as its maker.

What does the Midgard cost?
New Atlas did not report a price for the Midgard. It noted that Baluchon homes typically started at €85,000—about US$91,000 at the time of the June 2024 article. That was historical context for the builder’s homes generally, not a quote for this design or a current price.
