Important: Home Depot’s Presidents’ Day 2025 sale has ended. The promotion covered separate discounts on select appliances, tools, furniture, bath products, vacuums and other home-improvement goods; it was not a universal $1,000-off coupon. The original deal article was published on February 17, 2025, and said the offers ended at midnight that night.

What “$1,000 off” meant
The headline compressed several potential savings into one figure. It did not mean that every shopper received $1,000 off a single appliance or order.

The largest appliance offer combined discounts of up to 35% on select major appliances with up to $450 in additional savings on qualifying purchases. The example cited qualifying appliance purchases of $2,996 or more. The maximum possible saving depended on the products selected, the order total, eligibility rules and whether the offers could be combined.

In other words, “up to $1,000 off” should be read as potential combined savings across qualifying purchases and categories—not as a guaranteed checkout discount.

Major appliances: the most valuable part of the event
The sale highlighted refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, dryers, ranges and other cooking appliances. Brands named in the coverage included LG, Samsung, GE and Whirlpool.

- Additional savings: Up to $450 on qualifying appliance purchases, including the reported $2,996 threshold example.
- Eligibility: The offer applied to selected models, not every appliance or every product from the named brands.
This type of promotion was most likely to benefit someone replacing several appliances at once or buying a high-priced package while meeting the qualifying spend. It was less compelling for a single low-cost appliance, an excluded model or a shopper who needed immediate delivery.

The advertised percentage was only part of the calculation. Delivery, installation, haul-away, taxes, local inventory and the final ZIP-code-specific price could materially change the total. Home Depot’s later 2026 terms illustrate the issue: a separate Memorial Day promotion offered free standard delivery on qualifying purchases of $998 or more, while lower qualifying purchases carried a $39 delivery fee and installation or haul-away could cost extra. Those later terms do not establish what applied to the 2025 Presidents’ Day event.
Tools and accessories
The promotion included DeWalt, Ryobi and Milwaukee products, with offers described as up to $200 off select tools and accessories and up to 40% off select tools. Some featured tool offers included free shipping.
There is a small inconsistency in the original coverage: its introduction referred to up to $150 off best-selling tools and accessories, while the detailed deal list stated up to $200 off select tools. The safer interpretation is that the higher figure applied only to particular eligible products, rather than to the entire tool category.
For cordless tools, the percentage discount was not enough to judge value. Compare:

- whether the item is a bare tool or includes a battery and charger;
- battery capacity and the number of included batteries;
- kit contents and duplicate accessories;
- compatibility with batteries you already own;
- warranty, duty rating and service support.
A discounted kit made more sense for a buyer already committed to that battery platform. Choosing a platform solely because of a large headline discount could be a poor decision if the buyer later has to replace batteries, chargers or other tools.

How to evaluate an appliance or construction-related purchase
- Confirm the promotion. Check that the exact model, finish and configuration are marked as eligible.
- Read the offer terms. Determine whether the discount is automatic, requires a code, has a minimum spend or is limited to participating stores.
- Use the final cart total. Do not rely only on the displayed “was” price or the maximum percentage.
- Add service costs. Price delivery, installation, permits where relevant, haul-away and any required connection parts separately.
- Check availability by ZIP code. Stock, delivery dates and local-store selection can differ substantially.
- Compare alternatives. Check Lowe’s, Best Buy, local appliance dealers and manufacturer promotions from LG, Samsung, GE and Whirlpool.
- Separate rebates from discounts. A manufacturer or utility rebate may require registration, documentation or delayed payment and should not be treated as an immediate price reduction.
Why “select” matters
Every major figure in the roundup was an “up to” figure. That means the maximum applied only to selected SKUs, configurations, brands, finishes or purchase conditions. Inventory and pricing could also vary by location and change during the event.
A high advertised discount was not automatically the best value. A lower-priced model with a better warranty, cheaper delivery and no installation surcharge could beat a model carrying the largest percentage reduction. For tools, a smaller discount on a complete kit could be better than a larger discount on a bare tool.
What happened after Presidents’ Day 2025?
The 2025 promotion should not be confused with Home Depot’s separate Presidents’ Day event in 2026, which was indexed as offering up to 40% off select appliances through February 25, 2026. A later Memorial Day 2026 promotion advertised up to an extra $1,000 off qualifying appliances from May 14 through June 3, 2026. Those were different events with different terms.

As a result, old product prices, shipping promises and discount percentages from the February 2025 article should be treated as an archive only. They should not be used to represent an active sale in August 2026.
Bottom line for contractors and homeowners
The Presidents’ Day 2025 event could have been useful for a planned multi-appliance purchase, a qualifying high-value order or a tool kit that matched an existing battery platform. But the headline overstated the simplicity of the offer: there was no universal $1,000 discount, and the strongest savings applied only to eligible products and purchase conditions.
For any current Home Depot purchase, verify the live product page, final cart total, delivery window and service charges before treating a percentage discount as a real saving.
