Hillarys Beach Club was about 75% complete in July 2023, according to owner Ryan Esqulant. The early-December opening was then a target, not a confirmed date: the City of Joondalup later recorded that the two-storey venue opened on 13 December 2023.
How the construction progressed
Construction by Sandgate began in December 2022. By the City of Joondalup’s March 2023 committee update, foundations and the ground-floor slab were in place, and precast concrete panel walls had been erected. Utilities work had also begun. In a 20 July 2023 progress report, PerthNow quoted owner Ryan Esqulant saying, “We’re probably 75 per cent of the way there and maybe a week or two ahead of schedule, which is a good thing.” That was his estimate at the time, not an independently audited completion measure. He said handover for internal fit-out was expected on 15 August, with the operator aiming to open in the first week of December. PerthNow
What the project was designed to include
The planned two-storey hospitality venue sits metres from the sand at Pinnaroo Point, with views over the Indian Ocean. The July 2023 report described a coffee kiosk, café, licensed restaurant and bar, function space and planned capacity of 500 people. That figure was reported as planned capacity; it should not be treated as a current occupancy limit without checking the venue’s licensing.

Forecast and actual opening date

The venue’s official website lists its address as 20 John Wilkie Tarn, Hillarys WA 6025. As of 8 October 2026, it lists the coffee kiosk from 7:00 am daily; Bert’s Ballroom for lunch and dinner from 11:30 am to late; and Bar Cicchetti for breakfast from 8:00–11:00 am and lunch and dinner from noon to late. Hours and services can change, so check the official Hillarys Beach Club website before visiting.
