HFI Rentals officially entered the market in October 2026 as a Houston-area construction-equipment rental company. The new business is offering aerial work platforms, scissor lifts, telehandlers, earthmoving equipment and related machines for commercial, industrial and infrastructure work.

HFI Rentals began operations in Houston and surrounding markets, according to launch reports published by Rental Equipment Register on October 14, 2026, and Vertikal.net on October 16, 2026. The company is positioning itself as a local rental partner rather than simply another source of machines, with service responsiveness and equipment reliability at the center of its offering.

HFI says its stated values are Integrity, Service, Innovation and Performance. Its customer promise is to understand how contractors operate, anticipate equipment needs and help keep projects moving. That positioning matters in Houston, where a delayed lift, excavator or telehandler can affect several trades and push back a tightly sequenced job.
Who owns and leads HFI Rentals?
Owner and CEO Jason Herin leads HFI Rentals with Chief Operating Officer Trent Ledkins and Houston Branch Manager Chris Carter. The launch coverage says members of the leadership team have previously owned or operated rental businesses in the Houston market.

Herin is identified by Vertikal.net as the former owner of CBS Rentals, which was acquired by Herc Rentals in 2021. That background gives HFI’s launch a direct connection to Houston’s established rental industry, although HFI is a new company and its current ownership and operations should not be confused with the acquired CBS Rentals business.
Herin said the team was “incredibly excited to be back in the equipment rental industry and serving the Houston construction community.” Ledkins described rental as “ultimately a service business,” while Herin said HFI was not interested in being “simply another equipment provider.” Those statements explain why the company is emphasizing communication, dependability and long-term customer relationships alongside its fleet.

Who is HFI Rentals serving?
HFI says the fleet is intended for commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. That scope can include building construction, plant and facility work, road and utility projects, maintenance shutdowns and other jobs that require temporary access or compact equipment.
For a Houston contractor, the practical question is whether HFI can supply the required machine at the required time and support it through the rental. Before requesting a quote, prepare the worksite address, ground and access conditions, required working height or lift capacity, expected rental dates, power or fuel needs, attachments and delivery constraints. Those details help the branch match equipment to the job instead of treating a category name such as “telehandler” or “scissor lift” as sufficient specification.

Confirm who handles preventative maintenance, what happens if a machine fails, how quickly a replacement can be dispatched and whether the quoted unit is reserved for the full project window.

How HFI’s service positioning could matter on a job
HFI’s differentiator is stated as service rather than a published low-price claim. The company says it wants to build long-term relationships, respond quickly and provide dependable equipment. In practice, that promise can be tested through the details of a rental conversation:
- Does the representative ask about site conditions, access, surface strength and the task before recommending a machine?
- Can the branch confirm a specific model and delivery time rather than only a broad equipment category?
- Is there a clear contact for delivery changes, operating questions and breakdowns?
- Are inspection, maintenance and replacement procedures explained before the rental begins?
- Does the quote identify every recurring and one-time charge?
These checks do not establish performance in advance, but they give contractors a concrete way to evaluate the service model HFI describes.

- Define the work. Specify the task, working height, reach, load, terrain and indoor or outdoor conditions.
- Check site constraints. Confirm gate widths, overhead obstructions, ground bearing, gradients, access hours and where equipment can be unloaded.
- Match the machine. Ask for the exact make, model, dimensions, capacity, power source and included attachments.
- Confirm commercial terms. Get the rental period, billing basis, delivery and pickup fees, deposits, insurance requirements and damage responsibility in writing.
- Plan support. Establish the procedure and contact number for a fault, weather delay, extension or replacement request.
- Document handover. Record the machine’s condition, hour-meter reading, fuel or battery level and any existing damage at delivery.
What the launch means for the Houston rental market
HFI adds a locally led rental option at a time when contractors often need a mix of access, material-handling and compact earthmoving equipment from one supplier. Its leadership’s previous Houston rental experience may help it understand local scheduling and service expectations, while the new fleet gives the company a starting point across several common jobsite categories.

The more consequential test will be execution: equipment availability, delivery reliability, maintenance support and response when a project changes. Those operating metrics, along with pricing and fleet scale, were not disclosed in the October launch coverage and will need to be established directly with the Houston branch as customers begin renting.
