Ground subsided in a field above the under-construction Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) tunnel near Sehsola village in Nuh district on October 4, 2026. No one was reported injured. Residents have asked for tunnelling and blasting to stop pending an independent technical inquiry; the cause of the ground movement has not been established.
What happened near the HORC tunnel?
The Tribune reported that subsidence occurred on Sunday evening, October 4, in a field in the Patuka area of Sehsola village, Taoru subdivision, Nuh district. The affected area was described as roughly a 20-metre radius. The field was empty when the ground sank, and no injuries were reported. The Tribune’s October 5, 2026 report places the field above an under-construction HORC tunnel.
The report describes ground movement at the surface above the works. It does not establish that the tunnel itself collapsed. Residents characterized the incident in their complaint as a collapse or failure of the underground tunnel; railway and construction company officials who visited reportedly described the affected portion as a side area of the works.
Why are residents seeking a halt to work?
In a written complaint dated October 5 to the Nuh Deputy Commissioner, residents alleged damage to farmland and cracks in houses and foundations. They said the conditions posed a risk to life. These are claims by residents reported by The Tribune, not independently confirmed engineering findings.

Residents asked for tunnelling and blasting to stop, compensation, and an independent technical probe. Their proposed inquiry committee would include district administration, Revenue and PWD officials, an independent geotechnical expert, and HORC representatives. They also asked that the complaint be referred to police to examine possible criminal aspects.
Residents said they would not allow work to resume until they received safety assurances. That statement records their position as reported on October 5; it does not confirm that work stopped or remained halted.

Has the cause of the subsidence been established?
No. The report does not identify a cause or provide a completed geotechnical assessment. Residents’ allegations and officials’ description of the affected area do not, by themselves, determine the cause.
