For eco-friendly skip bin hire in Campbelltown, NSW, start by sorting the load—not by choosing the biggest bin. Council’s garden-organics service can take eligible green waste, while clean masonry and mixed clean-up waste may need a skip. To keep costs down, compare the bin size, accepted materials, hire period and full written quote, and confirm where each waste stream will go.
Check whether council can take part of the load
Separating material before booking can reduce how much you need to put in a skip. Campbelltown City Council’s guidance applies to Campbelltown, New South Wales; it should not be confused with Campbelltown in South Australia.

Eligible garden waste
The council’s green-lid garden-organics bin is collected fortnightly. Its listed accepted items include prunings, grass clippings, flowers, leaves and bark, small branches and weeds. Council says accepted material goes to a local facility to be composted and sold for use on farms and in gardens. See the Garden organics bin guidance for current details.
Keep out soil, stones, bricks, concrete, stumps, large branches and treated timber, along with other excluded items such as food waste, animal droppings, pots and plastic bags. If your garden clean-up includes both acceptable green waste and excluded material, keep them separate rather than treating the entire load as compostable.

Bulky items and household problem waste
For eligible bulky household items, check the council’s kerbside clean-up booking route before paying for a skip. The council also describes its Community Recycling Centre as a free option for appropriate household problem waste. Check current eligibility, accepted items, opening details and booking requirements directly with council; do not assume every bulky or problem item is accepted.
Do not use the general-waste bin as a catch-all
The council says its red-lid general-waste bin is for items that cannot be composted or recycled, and excludes building materials, asbestos, garden organics and recyclables. It states that collected contents go to Lucas Heights landfill, with nothing recovered. Its general waste (landfill) bin page explains the rules. Keep reusable, recyclable and eligible organic material out of a mixed-waste load where possible.
Choose a skip based on the material and the full quote
A skip’s capacity is measured by volume, but heavy materials can have separate limits or conditions. The local operator’s page lists 2, 3, 4, 6 and 10 cubic metre bins, but does not provide a complete current weight schedule. Do not assume a bin that fits the volume of clean brick or concrete is suitable for its weight.
Before booking, describe the load precisely: for example, clean green waste, clean brick or concrete, light construction waste, or a mixed household clean-up. Ask the provider to confirm acceptance, exclusions, weight limits and any extra charges in writing. The operator’s service page lists green waste and clean brick/concrete recycling, but does not give a full current prohibited-material list.
Affordability depends on the load type, size, hire term and what the quote includes. Current like-for-like local prices are not established here, so get a dated quote that states:
- the bin size and accepted materials, including any limits on mixed or heavy waste;
- delivery and collection charges, timing and access requirements;
- included hire days and the cost of extending the hire;
- any weight allowance, overweight charge or other additional fee; and
- the intended destination or recovery route for each waste stream.
What the local operator says it offers
Campbelltown Skip Bins describes residential, commercial and factory service for home and yard clean-ups, green waste and light construction waste. Its page lists 2, 3, 4, 6 and 10 cubic metre skips and says standard hires run for seven days, with extensions possible. It excludes soil and mixed heavy demolition materials from its stated light-construction offering. These are the company’s own descriptions; confirm current availability and terms when requesting a quote.
The company says it recycles “over 80% of waste collected.” That is a self-reported, general claim on its undated webpage, not an independently audited Campbelltown recovery rate; the page does not explain whether the percentage applies to every waste stream. For a specific job, ask how your separated materials will be handled. Details are on the Campbelltown Skip Bins website.
Confirm placement and current requirements before delivery
If the bin may need to sit on a road, footpath or other public land, ask Campbelltown City Council what approval or placement conditions apply before arranging delivery. Current public-space permit conditions are not established here. Also confirm the delivery location, access, collection window and any site restrictions with the provider.
