Govee announced two new smart star projectors on October 26, 2025: the Galaxy Light Projector 2 Pro (H609D) and the Star Light Projector (Ocean Wave) (H6094). They are not simply two versions of the same product. The Galaxy 2 Pro is the premium, detail-focused projector, using interchangeable film discs for themed galaxy imagery. The Ocean Wave is the cheaper ambient-lighting option, combining water-ripple effects with dynamic starlight.
Neither is a scientific planetarium or an accurate simulation of a particular night sky. They are programmable mood lights for bedrooms, children’s rooms, living spaces, movie nights, parties and relaxation.

Galaxy Light Projector 2 Pro: the image-focused model
The Galaxy Light Projector 2 Pro is aimed at buyers who care most about sharper, more detailed projected imagery. Govee lists a 4MP HD glass lens, 230 lux brightness, a 90-degree projection angle and coverage of up to 301 square feet. The unit can also be adjusted through 360 degrees, making it easier to aim at a ceiling, wall or larger surface.
#1 Best Overall
- Immersive 7-Zone Stardust with Dynamic Lighting: Experience a breathtaking cosmos at home with 7 star light zones, each customizable to create vivid, layered stardust effects. Ideal for children's rooms and game rooms.
- Full DIY Control via Smart Command: DIY each zone’s color, brightness, speed, and motion—create flowing or breathing effects. Works with Matter, Alexa, and Google Assistant for hands-free control. Enjoy a starry sky with blink and orbit motions for a truly dynamic projection.
- Large 540ft² Coverage with Field of View Lenses: This star light projector has large field of view lenses, increasing coverage to 540ft², easily covering the entire living room. Transform bedrooms into a dreamy cosmic space.
- 50+ Scene Modes & 18 Soothing White Noise Options: One tap to change the LED lights from 50+ scenes and pair with 18 white noise options to create a unique atmosphere for different moods.
- Sleep Timer with Quiet Operation: Set sleep mode light and automated shut-off. Ultra-quiet motor ensures uninterrupted rest. Special gifts for kids, light sleepers.
Its defining feature is the set of eight interchangeable film discs. This makes the 2 Pro more like an optical image projector than a basic coloured LED star lamp. The discs, preset scenes and white-noise options can be combined into more than 3,200 configurations according to Govee. That does not mean the package contains thousands of physical discs.
The product is the better fit for indoor camping, themed rooms, movie nights or anyone who wants to change the projected subject rather than simply wash a room in moving colour. The trade-off is price: its US list price was $179.99 when checked, before any temporary promotion.
Star Light Projector (Ocean Wave): the broader ambient option
The Ocean Wave model takes a different approach. It projects layered water-ripple patterns while adding dynamic starlight, rather than centring the experience on interchangeable galaxy images. Govee lists more than 40 scene modes, four RGBW lamp beads, a dual-layer textured lens and a green laser module for the star effects.

Govee claims coverage of up to 540 square feet, substantially more than the Galaxy 2 Pro’s stated 301 square feet. These figures should not be treated as standardised room-size measurements: visibility depends on projection distance, ceiling height, wall colour, ambient light, room shape and the selected effect.

The Ocean Wave also includes Bluetooth audio and 18 white-noise options. Govee claims operating noise below 25 dB, but that is a manufacturer specification rather than an independently verified measurement. Its US list price was $89.99 when checked, making it the value-oriented choice.
One important practical detail is easy to miss: Govee says the Ocean Wave does not include a power adapter and requires a standard 5V DC adapter. Check what is included before installing it in a bedroom or child’s room.
Where the Nebula model fits
Govee’s Star Light Projector with Nebula Effect (H6095) is not one of the two products in the October 2025 announcement, but it is a relevant in-brand alternative.
The Nebula model uses seven independently controlled projection zones and seven RGBW lamp beads with independent IC chips. Govee claims up to 540 square feet of coverage, more than 50 scene modes, Bluetooth stereo, 18 white-noise options and operation below 25 dB. Its US list price was $99.99 when checked.

Smart-home and sleep features
Both new models are advertised as compatible with the Govee Home app, Amazon Alexa, Google platforms and Matter. Matter support can simplify integration, but it does not guarantee that every proprietary scene, colour, speed or effect will appear in every smart-home app. Available controls can depend on the controller, ecosystem, firmware and Govee’s implementation.
Govee positions the projectors for sleep, relaxation and children’s rooms, with timers, dimming or sleep-oriented modes and white noise. Those features do not establish a medical sleep benefit. Brightness, movement, colour and sound may be calming for one person and distracting for another.
For a nursery or child’s bedroom, keep power cables inaccessible, follow the product manual and avoid direct exposure to bright light. The Ocean Wave includes a green laser module, so it should not be treated as an ordinary LED-only night-light: do not stare into the light or aim it at anyone’s eyes.
Which projector should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy Light Projector 2 Pro if:
- Projection detail matters more than maximum claimed coverage.
- You want interchangeable themed discs.
- You expect to use it as a visual feature for movie nights, parties or indoor camping.
- You are comfortable paying a premium for a more image-oriented design.
Choose the Ocean Wave if:
- You want a less expensive decorative projector.
- Water-ripple effects are as important as stars.
- You want broad, softer ambient effects in a larger room.
- You already have, or are prepared to buy, a compatible 5V DC power adapter.
Choose the Nebula model if:
- You prefer colourful nebula effects to physical projection discs.
- Independent zone control is more useful than themed imagery.
- You want a middle option between the premium Galaxy 2 Pro and the cheaper Ocean Wave.
Important limitations
Govee’s brightness, coverage, clarity, light-transmittance and noise figures are manufacturer claims. The available product material does not establish independent laboratory testing of image sharpness, brightness, acoustic performance or astronomical accuracy.
Rank #4
- Tri-Zone Independent Lighting: Switch between upper ambient ripples, middle RGBIC light, 1000lm focused task lighting, and mixed zones for movie nights, work, or parties. The app version must be 7.0.1 or above to support the firmware updates needed to activate the upper and lower sections illumination combo.
- DIY Dynamic Ripple Lighting: The floor lamp's 330° rotating lamp head casts customizable RGBWW water ripple effects onto ceilings. Cover around 215ft² walls with 80+ scenes, ideal for tall living rooms and master bedrooms.
- Circadian Rhythm & Health-Centric Lighting: Mimic natural light with a color temperature ranging from 2,700K (Warm) to 6,500K (Cool) with "Auto Run". Program this floor lamp to boost productivity with cool tones or unwind with warm sunset hues.
- Smart Home Ready: Compatible with SmartThings, Alexa, Matter, Google Assistant, and Govee Home App. Create DIY light shows, music-reactive beats, or immersive DreamView scenes for parties (Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is 2.4GHz capable)
- Sleek Design for Any Space: This modern floor lamp features an inner tapered design with transparent black shade accents to blend with any décor. Built with rust-proof aluminum and whisper-quiet motors (<25dB) for years of stylish, quiet performance.
Coverage numbers are particularly difficult to compare directly. A larger stated area may produce a softer effect, while a smaller projection may look more defined or remain more visible in ambient light. Brightness is also a compromise: it can help in a living room but may be too stimulating for sleep.
The Galaxy 2 Pro’s disc system adds variety, but the supplied product information does not establish the long-term availability or price of replacement discs. Govee’s sale prices and coupon displays also varied, so check the current US listing before purchasing.
Verdict
The Galaxy Light Projector 2 Pro is the more ambitious visual projector, with a higher price, a 4MP lens claim and interchangeable discs aimed at detailed themed imagery. The Ocean Wave is the more affordable room-ambience product, with broader claimed coverage and a distinctive combination of water effects, stars, audio and white noise. If neither approach is quite right, the H6095 Nebula model offers a zone-based middle ground.
For all three, the most accurate description is smart decorative lighting—not a true astronomical planetarium. Choose based on the effect you want to live with, the room in which it will operate and whether the advertised smart-home and power requirements fit your setup.
