If your Genie Model 7055 opener is not working, first note whether the door does not respond, moves and reverses, works from the wall console but not a remote, or is affected by a power outage. Check the model number on the opener, then use Genie’s Model 7055 support resources for the matching manual and programming instructions. Do not disable the Safe-T-Beam sensors or borrow reset, wiring, or adjustment steps from another Genie model.
Identify the symptom before changing anything
Genie identifies Model 7055 as the StealthDrive 750, a belt-drive residential opener with an integrated battery backup and a 1¼ HPc DC motor. The product page says it is designed for sectional doors up to 7 feet high and 500 pounds; an 8-foot door requires an extension kit. Confirm the model number on the opener before following instructions for any repair or programming task.
- No response: Note whether the wall console, remote, or keypad triggers the opener.
- Moves, then reverses: Look for an obvious obstruction and check whether the safety sensors appear misaligned, without moving or bypassing them.
- Wireless control fails: Compare operation from the wall console with each remote or keypad.
- Light or power issue: Separate lighting symptoms from door movement, and establish whether household power is out.
Genie’s Model 7055 support page provides the operation and maintenance manual, programming instructions, safety and maintenance information, installation videos, and a model-specific replacement-parts resource. Use those instructions for indicator meanings, reset sequences, and adjustments. The sources cited here do not establish a complete 7055 light-code chart, so a blinking light alone is not enough to identify a fault.
If the door reverses or the Safe-T-Beams are involved
Check only for an obvious blockage or visible sensor misalignment. Genie states that Safe-T-Beam sensors should be 5–6 inches above the floor. The company’s Model 7055 Product Support Information, last updated June 2, 2025, says: “The opener will not work if Safe-T-Beam® is tampered with, removed or otherwise disengaged.” Do not disconnect, cover, relocate, or bypass this safety system. If it does not work correctly, stop using automatic operation and follow the manual or contact a qualified service provider.

If a remote or keypad does not work
First check whether the wall console operates the opener, then test whether the problem affects one wireless control or all of them. If the wall console works but a remote or keypad does not, use Genie’s Remote and Keypad Programming resource alongside the Model 7055 instructions. Confirm the exact control model and compatibility before buying a replacement; do not assume a particular battery or programming-button sequence without the matching device instructions.
If the opener light is out
Genie specifies two bulbs for the Model 7055 and recommends Genie LED bulbs; the product page also allows incandescent bulbs up to 60 watts. A failed bulb is a lighting issue, not an explanation for a door that will not move or reverses. If lighting problems coincide with electrical symptoms, consult the manual or a service professional rather than treating the bulb as the cause.

What to do during a power outage
The product page lists an integrated battery backup, but manual release is a separate way to disengage the opener. Genie says an owner can release it from inside using the emergency release cord and then move the door by its handle. Keep hands clear of pinch points, and do not try to force a door that is unusually heavy or difficult to move. For emergency access from outside, Genie specifies an Emergency Release Lock.

Contact Genie customer support or a local Genie Professional Dealer if you are unsure, the safety system is not operating correctly, electrical work is involved, the door is difficult to move or appears unbalanced, or the checks in the official manual do not resolve the issue. Do not order a replacement part based only on a symptom: confirm the diagnosis, opener revision, and fit through the Model 7055 parts resource.
