Carat’s material and appearance
Through-colored construction
Through-coloring means the panel body and visible face share the Carat pigment system. This differs from a gray-based fiber-cement board that receives an opaque surface finish. It also differs from a transparent finish, where the substrate remains visually dominant. The Carat surface is lightly pigmented and translucent, allowing natural variation in the fiber-cement material to contribute to the final appearance.

Color range and codes
Swisspearl states that the Carat line contains 20 shades. The 2026 delivery program lists examples including Anthracite 8020, 8021, 8023 and 8024; Azurite 8040; Granite 8060, 8061 and 8062; Crystal 8010; Jade 8053; and Limestone, Amber, Sandstone, Ivory and Coral variants. A code listed in a delivery program is not proof that it is the shade shown in a gallery photograph: lighting, camera settings, weathering and screen calibration can materially change perceived color.
Can Carat be used on a facade?
Yes. Largo Carat panels are intended for ventilated facade applications when designed and installed as part of a compliant rainscreen assembly. The panel is not a standalone structural wall. The supporting substructure, cavity, insulation, membranes, joints, fasteners, edge treatment and fire-performance design must be coordinated for the specific building and jurisdiction.

Panel formats and thicknesses
Swisspearl’s 2025 Largo brochure gives a maximum usable format of 3050 × 1250 mm in 8 mm or 12 mm thickness. The 2026 delivery program also lists trimmed and untrimmed sizes, so the maximum format should not be assumed to be available in every finish, stock item or market. Confirm the regional delivery schedule before finalizing module dimensions or setting out a facade.

How Swisspearl Carat is fixed
Visible fixing on wood
On a wooden substructure, panels can be secured with painted-head screws. The painted heads are selected to coordinate with the panel finish, while screw spacing, edge distances and support layout follow the manufacturer’s engineering requirements.

Visible fixing on metal
On a metal substructure, the visible option is painted-head blind rivets. Rivet type, hole preparation, movement allowance and installation sequence must be taken from the current system documentation rather than improvised on site.
Concealed fixing on metal
For a concealed appearance, Largo panels can use undercut anchors on a metal substructure. This approach requires accurate back-of-panel machining, anchor positioning and carrier-rail coordination. It is a specialist system and should be detailed using Swisspearl’s Largo Design and Installation Manual.

Optional HR coating
A transparent high-resistance (HR) coating is available as an option. Its purpose is to improve scratch resistance and provide additional protection against heavy soiling and graffiti. HR coating does not turn Carat into a different color family, and it should be specified with the project’s cleaning, maintenance and appearance requirements in mind.

- Identify the application. Confirm that the project requires Largo facade panels and define the ventilation, fire, structural and environmental conditions.
- Select a shade by code. Use the current regional delivery program, not a screen image or an unlabeled gallery photograph.
- Request samples. Review full-size or representative samples in the project’s daylight and adjacent-material context. Record the sample code and finish, including whether HR coating is required.
- Confirm format and thickness. Check whether the selected shade is available as trimmed or untrimmed stock and whether 8 mm or 12 mm panels suit the design.
- Choose the fixing method. Coordinate painted-head screws, painted-head blind rivets or concealed undercut anchors with the substructure designer.
- Issue installation details. Use the current Largo Design and Installation Manual for joints, edge treatment, drilling or routing, fastener spacing, tolerances and movement provisions.
What to verify before ordering
- The exact Carat color code and whether it is available in the project’s region.
- Trimmed or untrimmed panel dimensions and the required thickness.
- Whether the facade exposure justifies the optional HR coating.
- Substructure material and the compatible visible or concealed fixing system.
- Sample approval under the actual lighting conditions, because photographs and monitors cannot establish a final color match.
- Current technical, fire and structural requirements issued by Swisspearl and applicable local regulations.
Where to obtain samples and technical information
Carat is a specification-led architectural cladding product rather than a typical consumer retail item. The practical route is to request samples, review the current delivery program and obtain technical downloads through Swisspearl or an authorized regional distributor. A distributor can also confirm lead times, available formats, color-code status and the correct installation documentation for the project location.
