It is a shortlist place, not a win: the awards ceremony is scheduled for 25 November 2026.
What is the FPA shortlisted for?
The nomination recognises research on sprinkler design in buildings with exposed timber surfaces, including exposed cross-laminated timber (CLT), according to FSM Magazine’s report dated 3 October 2026. FSM identifies Dr Dale Kinnersley, principal consultant for RISCAuthority, as the developer of the research.
FSM reports that the work informed new guidance within the LPC Sprinkler Rules and was proposed for consideration in future revisions of EN 12845-1. Those technical and standards-related details are reported by FSM; they have not been independently confirmed here against the underlying research or standards documents.

FSM also reports that Dr Kinnersley’s PhD based on the work was awarded in July 2026; its report does not name the awarding institution.

When and where is the ceremony?
The awards organiser schedules the ceremony for 25 November 2026 at Platinum Suite, Excel London, according to its official announcement. The winner will be determined at the ceremony; the FPA has not been announced as the winner.
