The XEdge Flounder 2.0 is a two-piece Grade 5 titanium multitool pendant that can also ride on a keychain. It measures 62.4 mm by 38.9 mm and weighs 33.7 g, making it genuinely compact for light repairs, package opening and emergency outdoor tasks. But its “13-in-1” label is generous: the campaign count includes overlapping functions and, depending on the package, features such as tritium slots, attachment points and a separate ferro rod.
For construction and maintenance workers, it is best viewed as a lightweight backup—not a replacement for a full-size multitool, dedicated knife or conventional hand tools.

What is the Flounder 2.0?
The Flounder 2.0 is made from Grade 5, or GR5, titanium and is designed to be worn around the neck or attached to a keychain. Its two-piece rotating construction lets XEdge fit more functions into a small pendant body. The upper section rotates to expose recessed areas including the magnetic bit-holder section and the graphite “everlasting pen.”

Its listed dimensions are approximately 62.4 mm high, 38.9 mm wide and 33.7 g in weight. Those figures matter because the second-generation tool is considerably larger and heavier than the original Flounder, even though it remains light enough for pendant or keychain carry. New Atlas reported the specifications and original 2024 launch.

The campaign page describes the Flounder 2.0 as a 13-in-1 tool, but its list is not a standardized count of 13 wholly independent tools. The attachment hole and tritium provisions are useful design features, not tools in the ordinary sense. The magnetic holder may also be counted separately from the driver it supports. The Indiegogo campaign page provides the product’s campaign-era list.
Is it really 13 tools?
Yes as a marketing category; not necessarily as 13 separate, full-size tools. A strict inventory can identify the pen, two drivers, holder, pry bar, nail puller, saw, rope cutter, sharpener, flathead driver, file, opener and bottle opener, with fire-starting dependent on the separate ferro rod. Other versions of the count fold in the carry hole or tritium slots and treat related driver components as separate functions.
That does not make the functions imaginary. It means buyers should judge the Flounder by the actual jobs it can perform rather than by the headline number.

The Flounder 2.0 is therefore not the original tool with extra features added at no physical cost. It is roughly 2.5 times the original’s weight and substantially larger. XEdge emphasized additions including the rope cutter, knife sharpener, magnetic bit holder, flathead screwdriver and file.
How the rotating two-piece design works
The rotating upper section uses otherwise unused surface area to conceal or expose components. That is the central design advantage: more capability without turning the tool into a conventional pocket multitool.
The trade-off is that moving parts create questions that the available coverage does not answer. Dirt could enter the recesses, the sections could loosen or rattle, and manipulation may be awkward while wearing gloves. The small body also limits the leverage available to the pry bar and screwdrivers. No independent long-term durability, torque or corrosion testing was supplied, so claims about reliability should remain manufacturer claims rather than established performance results.

Where it can help on a job or outdoors
- Package and material handling: The box opener, file and light pry function can help with cartons, tape, burrs and small adjustments.
- Small repairs: Compatible bits and the flathead driver are useful for low-torque fasteners and minor fixes.
- Cord and rope: The rope cutter provides an emergency option for cordage, though it is not a substitute for a dedicated heavy-duty cutter.
- Site or campsite backup: The saw, bottle opener, nail puller and marking tip add utility when carrying a larger tool is inconvenient.
- Fire starting: The striker can create sparks only when paired with a suitable ferro rod. Verify whether the rod is included in the specific package.
The “everlasting pen” is a graphite-style marking tip, not an ink pen that literally never wears out. The supplied sources do not establish how dark or comfortable it is for ordinary writing, how it performs on wet or glossy surfaces, or how easily replacement graphite tips can be obtained.
Where the small pendant falls short
The same dimensions that make the Flounder easy to carry limit its performance. It is poorly suited to high-torque screwdriving, heavy prying, thick rope, wire, wood or metal cutting, long-duration sawing and precision work requiring a comfortable handle. It also lacks the pliers, scissors and full-size blade that many workers expect from a primary multitool.
Grade 5 titanium is marketed for strength and corrosion resistance, but it is not damage-proof. The available material does not provide independent testing of cutting life, tool wear, torque limits or corrosion performance.

Is necklace carry practical and safe?
Neck carry offers immediate access and avoids pocket bulk. It may suit someone who repeatedly needs a small backup tool and is likely to forget one stored in a bag. The same format introduces safety and comfort concerns:
- The tool can swing, rotate or press against skin and clothing while walking.
- Rigid edges, the box opener and other cutters should be positioned so they cannot contact the wearer.
- A cord can snag on ladders, machinery, climbing equipment or other obstacles.
- Contact sports, machinery work and high-snag environments are poor use cases for pendant carry.
- The available sources do not verify that any included cord is a certified breakaway safety lanyard.
- Schools, workplaces, venues, airlines and local laws may restrict knife-like or sharp tools.
For construction work, keychain carry or secure storage is often more sensible around moving equipment than allowing a rigid multitool to hang freely from the neck.

The firestarter description needs particular care. The tool may supply the striker, but sparks require a separate ferro rod. New Atlas noted that the rod was separate and that XEdge’s principal tool list did not clearly treat the firestarter as a standard counted item. The campaign also described ferro rods as an add-on, so inclusion may depend on the reward tier.

Do not assume tritium vials are included. The tool has provisions for two tritium tubes, but availability, legality and package contents may vary. Fire-starting success also depends on tinder, technique and weather, and fires must comply with local restrictions.
Availability and historical pricing
The original product coverage was published on August 6, 2024, during crowdfunding. Reported campaign rewards began at about $57; other coverage cited a $65 late-pledge price and an $89 suggested retail price. Those were historical campaign figures, not confirmed current prices.
The Indiegogo campaign is now closed and no clearly verified active first-party XEdge checkout was established in the supplied research. A MightyEDC listing showed a $68.99 price but was marked sold out when checked. Buyers should therefore confirm live stock, seller identity, fulfillment, warranty terms and package contents before paying. Do not treat a closed campaign page or an old reward tier as proof of current availability.
Who should consider it?
The Flounder 2.0 makes sense for buyers who prioritize unusual, compact necklace or keychain carry and mostly need light-duty backup functions: opening packages, tightening small screws, cutting cord, pulling a small nail, marking material or handling a minor emergency.
It is a poor fit for anyone who needs pliers, scissors, a full-size blade, substantial leverage, sustained workshop capability, dependable replacement parts or clearly established current retail and warranty support. For those needs, an established pocket or belt multitool is bulkier but generally more ergonomic and practical.
Verdict
The XEdge Flounder 2.0 is a creative wearable backup tool, not a full replacement for conventional construction tools or a full-size multitool. Its two-piece titanium design genuinely packs in a broad set of light-duty functions, but the “13 tools” claim is best understood as XEdge’s generous product-category count. The larger size compared with the original, uncertain current stock, firestarter ambiguity and lack of independent durability testing are important parts of the buying decision.
