Gelock Heavy Movers and affiliate HEL Inc. intend to use it for equipment storage, transportation, repair and maintenance. In a September 2025 report, owner Rich Van Dam said he hoped the facility would be ready in 2027; that is a target, not confirmation that construction is complete or the companies have moved in.
What is planned for the final parcel?
WGVU News reported on September 2, 2025, that Gelock Heavy Movers and HEL Inc. were to take the third and final parcel at Site 36. The planned operation would provide space to store, transport, repair and maintain heavy equipment. Van Dam cited freeway access as a reason for choosing the location: “We need good freeway access which is what Site 36 gives us.” WGVU News
Is the redevelopment finished?
Completion is not established by the available reporting. Van Dam described a goal of having the new location ready in 2027, when the business would need to leave its Market Street location. His stated intention to cut the ribbon on his birthday is a planned milestone, not evidence that the facility is now built or occupied. WGVU’s September 2025 report does not confirm a later completion or move-in.
How the former plant site is being reused
Site 36 is the former Grand Rapids Stamping Plant property, an 88-acre industrial site near US 131 in Wyoming. RACER Trust says Fisher Body Division of General Motors developed the property in 1936, and it operated as an automobile metal fabrication and assembly plant until operations ceased in 2010. The planned heavy-equipment services represent a shift from vehicle manufacturing to industrial storage, transport and maintenance. RACER Trust fact sheet, updated March 2024

Ownership and environmental responsibilities
RACER Trust reports that it sold the property to Thunder Ventures in 2011. Following a later transfer to the City of Wyoming Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Franklin Site 36 LLC acquired it in 2022. RACER Trust also retains certain responsibilities related to subsurface contamination; that responsibility is distinct from the reported plan for the final parcel and does not, by itself, establish the site’s current construction status.
