The Fellow Espresso Series 1 is a $1,499.95 semi-automatic home espresso machine built around guided recipes, manual control and assisted milk steaming, according to Fellow’s current product listing. A June 2026 hands-on review by Tom’s Guide praised its espresso and steamed milk, but the machine has no built-in grinder, so its purchase price is only part of the budget for a complete setup.
What the Fellow Espresso Series 1 offers
Fellow presents the Series 1 as a precision-oriented home machine that gives new users guidance without removing manual control. Its product page advertises guided recipes, a manual mode, pressure profiling, temperature control and an independently heated grouphead. Dedicated shortcuts operate brewing, steaming and hot water. These are Fellow’s stated features, not independently verified measurements. Fellow Espresso Series 1 product page.
Guidance and control
Guided recipes may help make the first sessions more approachable, while manual mode is intended for users who want to adjust their process. The June 17, 2026 Tom’s Guide review also described app guidance and customization, and reported positively on its hands-on experience. That is one reviewer’s assessment rather than a guarantee that every user will get the same results. Tom’s Guide review.
Milk steaming and heating
Fellow advertises assisted milk steaming and a temperature-sensing wand that automatically stops at the appropriate point. The company also says the machine heats in under two minutes and maintains tight temperature control. Treat those as manufacturer claims; the available review information does not establish independent measurements for them.

What the hands-on review reports
Tom’s Guide’s June 2026 review describes a single-boiler machine with a flow-through heater, 9-bar pressure, a 70-fluid-ounce water tank and a weight of 21.7 pounds. The review reports that there is no built-in grinder. It also lists dimensions of 23.1 × 14.6 × 12.6, but the dimension order is not clear from the available excerpt, so those figures are not reliable enough for precise counter-fit planning.
The reviewer praised the machine’s espresso and milk-steaming results. Those are subjective impressions from that review, not a controlled comparison or a promise of results in another kitchen. No independently verified competitor specifications or head-to-head test are established here.

Budget for the machine and the rest of the setup
Fellow currently lists the Series 1 at $1,499.95. Because the review says there is no grinder built in, buyers without an espresso-capable grinder should include a separate grinder in their overall budget and allow for its counter space. This is a practical setup consideration, not a claim from Fellow about compatibility with a particular grinder.
The review’s listed price of $1,499 is close to, but not identical to, Fellow’s current $1,499.95 listing. Prices and offers can change, so check the current product page before buying. The available evidence does not verify current inventory, Amazon availability or affiliate terms.

Who should consider the Series 1?
A reasonable fit
- Home espresso drinkers who want guided recipes as well as a manual mode.
- People who regularly make milk drinks and value the advertised steaming assistance.
- Buyers willing to plan for a separate grinder if they do not already own one.
Questions to settle before buying
- Does the full setup budget include a grinder, if needed?
- Will the machine and grinder fit the available counter space? Confirm the machine’s exact dimensions and clearance needs with Fellow before planning a tight fit.
- Do the current included accessories, warranty, return policy and any credit offer meet your needs? Confirm current terms directly with the seller.
Is it worth considering?
The Series 1’s clearest appeal is its mix of guided operation, manual mode and advertised milk-steaming assistance. Tom’s Guide’s hands-on review was positive about its drinks, but the available evidence does not establish how it compares under controlled conditions with other machines at this price. Whether it makes sense depends on how much you value its guidance and features, and whether the total cost—including a grinder if necessary—fits your plans.
