Which Philadelphia Water Department projects are planned in my ZIP code?
Your ZIP code determines which district newsletter you receive, but a ZIP code is not a project boundary. Check the bulletin’s street names and project numbers, then follow the corresponding PWD Project Page because schedules, completion percentages, and active-project lists can change.

Several ZIP codes appear in more than one row. For example, 19120 is listed in districts 7, 8, and 9, while 19114 appears in districts 6 and 10. That overlap is why PWD may send multiple district newsletters to one address.
What kinds of work do the newsletters cover?
The bulletins group projects into three infrastructure areas: water-main replacement, sewer construction or rehabilitation, and green stormwater infrastructure (GSI). GSI features such as inlets and basins capture or slow runoff, helping reduce pollution entering waterways. A single project can combine two or all three types.
- Water mains: replacement or installation of distribution pipes, often coordinated with service-line work.
- Sewers: new or renewed sewer facilities and related street construction.
- GSI: inlets, basins, and other facilities designed to manage stormwater runoff.
What projects appear in the District 2 Fall 2026 bulletin?
District 2 illustrates the level of detail a district issue can provide. Its bulletin, sent October 24, 2026, identifies project numbers, streets, neighborhoods, status, and expected timing; these examples apply to District 2 and are not a citywide project list.

What should I expect when PWD construction reaches my block?
Expect a combination of daytime work, temporary access changes, and possible utility interruptions. The District 2 issue lists direct-impact work hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; nearby residents can also experience periodic closures, parking restrictions, and water interruptions.
Worksite conditions
- Construction equipment and noise during the listed daytime hours.
- Open street or sidewalk trenches while crews install or replace infrastructure.
- Closed blocks or temporary no-parking areas, with resident access maintained where feasible.
- Temporary pavement before permanent restoration.
- Changed trash-pickup locations when normal collection access is blocked.
Water shutoffs
PWD says it provides 24-hour notice for planned water shutoffs expected to last more than 30 minutes. The notice rule applies to the construction impacts described in the bulletin; residents should still read each project’s specific communication for the date, duration, and preparation instructions.

Lead and galvanized service lines

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How can I verify whether a project is current?
Start with the district newsletter, then use the linked interactive construction map and individual PWD Project Pages. Those resources provide the project footprint, current status, contact details, and other resident materials that may be updated after the quarterly email.
- Match the project number or street segment in the newsletter to the project page.
- Check the map for the exact block and whether your address is in the direct-impact or nearby-impact area.
- Review the latest schedule, water-shutoff notice, parking or closure information, and posted contacts.
- Recheck the page before planned work begins because completion dates and sequencing can move.
For questions identified in the bulletin, residents can email [email protected] or [email protected]. District assignments, project status, and schedules should be treated as changeable rather than permanent.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will one Philadelphia ZIP code receive more than one construction newsletter?
Yes. PWD routes messages by the districts associated with the ZIP code, so an overlapping ZIP can receive two or more district bulletins. The directory itself shows the overlap; 19120, for example, appears in three district listings.
Recommended Free Tools
Does a newsletter mean construction is definitely starting on my street?
No. A bulletin can include projects already active, planned for a future year, or still progressing through a multi-season schedule. Confirm the project’s current phase and street limits on its PWD Project Page.
Where can I find the exact construction map for my address?
Use the interactive construction map linked inside the district bulletin or on the related PWD project page. It is intended to show the project footprint, contacts, and resident resources at a more precise level than the ZIP-code directory.
How much advance warning does PWD give for a water shutoff?
For planned shutoffs expected to last more than 30 minutes, the Fall 2026 bulletin says PWD provides 24-hour notice. Shorter interruptions or changes in timing may be communicated through the project’s local notices, so monitor the page and on-street postings.
