The delivery follows Falco’s 2025 announcement that it had invested in the additional machines and expected them to join its fleet by early 2026. The report says they were fitted with manual quick hitches supplied by Rhinox; it does not give unit-by-unit handover dates or post-delivery operating results.
What is confirmed about the delivery?
Falco’s 2025 Net Zero report said the company had invested in 15 additional TB20e machines after a trial with UK Power Networks, with fleet arrival planned by early 2026. On 8 October 2026, DM News reported that Falco had taken delivery, citing a Rhinox company post. The delivery account names manual quick hitches but does not identify their model. Falco’s 2025 report and DM News’ delivery report therefore describe different stages: planned fleet arrival and subsequent reported delivery.

The available reports do not establish the precise handover date for each excavator, where each unit was allocated, or how the machines have performed in service since delivery. The delivery status is supported by secondary trade coverage, rather than a public delivery announcement from Falco in the material cited here.
Which excavator model did Falco receive?
The model is the Takeuchi TB20e, which Takeuchi identifies as a fully electric excavator in its electric excavator brochure. The delivery report says the machines have manual quick hitches, but does not specify a hitch model or establish which buckets or other attachments are compatible. Those details should be confirmed against the individual machine configuration and manufacturer specifications before ordering attachments.

What led to the 15-machine investment?
Falco’s rollout followed testing that began with a smaller trial. In November 2023, the company described demonstrating a TB20e alongside a diesel TB216 and said it planned further field testing. Its December 2023 account covered a site trial under Falco’s UK Power Networks framework contract, with feedback from machine operator Marius Serban.
Falco later said a 16-month internal trial with UK Power Networks led to its investment in the 15 additional excavators. The company reported that the machines were intended for utilities and streetworks activity. A subsequent award announcement said the electric machines were used across UK Power Networks network areas in London and the South East. Falco also reported that the collaboration received the Environmental Innovation Award at the City of London’s Considerate Contractor Streetworks Scheme Awards in 2025. Falco’s award announcement gives the project context, but it does not provide independently verified operating data.

What has been reported about battery use and operation?
Falco’s 5 December 2023 trial account quoted Serban saying that the excavator used about 25 to 30 percent of its battery per day during the reported trial. He also described its performance as comparable to a standard diesel digger and said it was similarly easy to manoeuvre. These are operator comments published by Falco, not results from an independently controlled comparison. Falco’s trial account does not specify a complete duty cycle that would let readers apply the battery-use figure to other jobs.

Those figures are reported experience, not a guaranteed charging interval or product specification. The reports do not state the work hours, workload, charging arrangements or other conditions needed to compare the two battery accounts directly. The Construction Index report should therefore be read as trial feedback, not as a promise that every machine will run five days on a charge.

What do the emissions figures mean?
Falco estimated in 2025 that replacing its entire diesel mini-excavator fleet with electric machines could reduce emissions by more than 200 tonnes per annum. That is a company estimate for a fleet-wide replacement scenario, not measured savings from the 15 TB20e machines delivered. The company’s 2023 demonstration account had put the estimate for replacing its then-current fleet at more than 150 tonnes of CO2 each year. The two figures are estimates published at different times and should not be treated as observed emissions reductions.
In its 2023 trial article, Falco also claimed zero operational CO2, NOx and particulate emissions when the excavator is powered by renewable electricity, and reported 13 dB less noise. These are company claims; the cited account does not provide independent measurements or test conditions. The operating emissions statement is conditional on the electricity source and concerns emissions during machine operation, not the full lifecycle emissions of the equipment or electricity supply.
