The Eureka J15 Max Ultra can identify certain liquid spills and change from vacuuming to mopping. Its FlexiRazor system can cut hair wrapped around the roller brush, but Eureka documents that cutting action as part of the robot’s return-to-base maintenance cycle—not as a guarantee that it can escape every obstruction in real time.
Which Eureka robot vacuum has these features?
The product is the Eureka J15 Max Ultra, announced at CES 2025. It is not the same machine as the J15 Ultra, J15 Evo Ultra, J15 Pro Ultra, E20 Plus, or E20 Evo Plus.

Eureka’s J15 Max Ultra product page specifically describes transparent-liquid detection and the FlexiRazor brush-cutting system. Other Eureka models may share related anti-tangle or stain-cleaning marketing, but their features should not be assumed to be identical.

The J15 Max Ultra is not analyzing the chemical composition of a stain. Eureka is describing spill detection: recognizing a wet area and changing the robot’s cleaning strategy.

- Up to 75 Days of Hands-free Maintenance: 8-in-1 Functional Base automatically empties debris along with automatically refills water, and hot water mop washing and drying.J15 Max Ultra's mop pads are washed with 167°F hot clean water, then dried with 131°F heated air, reducing mold & mildew.Meanwhile, the smart base station self-cleans its tray—a built-in scraper removes residue and collects waste, ensuring no stains left. With battery charging and dock self-cleaning, enjoy hassle-free cleaning.
- Edge-to-Edge Cleaning Perfected: J15 Max Ultra's FlexArm tech ensures no spot gets left behind. It automatically extends its side brush and mop in tight spaces, while the rotating mop applies perfect pressure (8N) to lift dirt. Lab-verified to achieve 99.95% edge coverage, it cleans closer to walls than standard vacuums - just 0.006 inches away. Smarter cleaning, zero missed spots.
- Total Hands-free Cleaning,Dual Self-Cleaning System:Say goodbye to maintenance with the J15 Max Ultra’s fully automated self-cleaning system. After every job, it deep-cleans its mop with 176°F hot water to melt away grime, then dries it with 131°F warm air to stop odors before they start. Even the base station takes care of itself—its built-in scraper removes residue while auto-refilling water and emptying dust. No scrubbing, no mess, just floors that stay fresh with zero effort on your part.
- Unbeatable Vacuum Power Remove 99% Debris: Experience Powerful 22,000 Pa suction for a deeper clean across all floor types. Eureka J15 Max Ultra robot vacuum's advanced aluminum fan boosts motor performance and heat dissipation is perfect for deep cleaning carpets and hard-to-reach crevices.
- No More Clumps in Dust Box: IntelliView AI Dirt Detection can accurately detect dry and wet messes. When encountering wet messes, the robot vacuum will rotate its body to prioritize cleaning with the mop. And When the robot vacuum encounters dry debris, it automatically reduces the side brush speed to minimizing mess spread and deep cleaning all debris.
According to Eureka, the robot:
- Detects a liquid spill.
- Lifts its roller brush.
- Rotates its body.
- Uses the mop first instead of treating the area like ordinary dry debris.
- Attempts to keep liquid out of the dustbin and reduce spreading it across the floor.
There is a significant qualification: Eureka says the detectable spill must be more than 1.5 millimeters thick. That means the feature should not be treated as a guarantee for a few droplets, a thin film, a damp patch, or every discoloration on a floor.
Liquid detection, stain detection, and stain removal are different things. A robot may recognize that an area is wet without removing dried coffee, grease, ketchup, paint, pet residue, or a deeply set mark. Results depend on the substance, how long it has dried, the flooring, mop pressure, water temperature, and how many passes are made.
How it responds to a spill
A conventional vacuum path can pull liquid toward a dustbin, contaminate the roller, or spread the wet material over a wider area. The J15 Max Ultra’s advertised advantage is that it tries to avoid that behavior by lifting the brush and prioritizing mopping.
That does not make it a wet/dry shop vacuum. It should not be used to collect large quantities of water or as a substitute for manually containing a serious spill. It also may not respond reliably when a spill is hidden beneath furniture, too thin to meet the stated threshold, sticky or viscous, difficult to reach, or located where the robot cannot maneuver.
Eureka calls the relevant system IntelliView AI 2.0. The company also says its “Intelligent Strategizing” feature is in beta, that performance can vary, and that recognition precision may improve through over-the-air updates. Some advanced sensor or cleaning functions may require manual activation in the Eureka app. App labels and feature availability can vary by software version and region.

What FlexiRazor does
FlexiRazor is an anti-tangle mechanism built into the brush system. Eureka says high-density blades move at 400 strokes per minute to slice through hair wrapped around the roller.
Eureka’s general marketing also claims a 99% reduction in hair tangling. That is a manufacturer claim, reportedly associated with SGS testing—not an independently established result for every home, hair type, floor, or obstruction. Actual performance will vary.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The system is aimed primarily at hair wrap, especially human and pet hair. It does not mean the robot can cut through power cords, charging cables, shoelaces, ribbons, carpet fringe, wire, toys, or loose fabric. Hair caught around a wheel axle, brush end, or another moving part can still require manual removal.
The headline’s biggest caveat: it does not necessarily cut while cleaning
The phrase “cuts itself free of tangles” can imply that the robot immediately cuts through anything that traps it. Eureka’s detailed product information is narrower: it says the FlexiRazor blades operate when the robot returns to the base station.

- Advanced Edge Cleaning with ScrubExtend: Eureka J15 Evo Ultra is equipped with Eureka's self-developed mop extension technology, ScrubExtend. When encountering skirting boards, wall corners, and table legs, the mop extends outward for extreme '0-gap' edge cleaning. The extended mop achieves 99.99% edge coverage with a precision margin of 0 mm, certified by TÜV Rheinland, ensuring highly efficient corner cleaning and reducing manual secondary cleaning.
- Ideal for pet owners:the DragonClaw Side Brush tackles stubborn pet hair with ease. Its unique V-shaped design detangles hair as it spins, keeping your robot vacuum running smoothly. With a >99.99% hair removal rate*, the anti-tangle roller brush prevents hair from wrapping around the ends, while a built-in comb continuously clears strands—no more frustrating clogs or manual cleanups. Enjoy hassle-free, tangle-free cleaning, specially designed for homes with shedding pets!
- Smart. Smooth. Seamless. Eureka J15 Evo Ultra delivers truly uninterrupted cleaning with its 20mm threshold climbing—gliding over carpets, rugs, and household barriers like bathroom entrances. 10mm smart mop-lifting ensures carpets stay fresh and dry by automatically raising the mop on detection, preventing wet messes and odors. No more manual adjustments—just smooth, intelligent transitions between surfaces for complete whole-home cleanliness.
- 22,000Pa Suction Power: A self-developed motor powers the J15 Evo Ultra with impressive suction, picking up heavier debris like chocolate chips. It also excels on carpets, lifting deeply embedded dust for a thorough, comprehensive clean.
- Infinite Flexibility, Safe for Your Furniture: Thanks to its flexible swing arm design, the mop gently extends and retracts using a friction-based mechanism—preventing damage to furniture and safeguarding the gear.
The more accurate description is:
The J15 Max Ultra can automatically cut hair from its roller during a dock-based maintenance cycle.
That can reduce routine brush cleaning, but it is not proof that the robot can rescue itself from every jam. If a cord stops the robot, a wheel becomes trapped, the brush accumulates too much debris before docking, or the robot cannot reach its base, manual intervention may still be necessary.

Maintenance is reduced, not eliminated
The all-in-one dock automates much of the routine work, but owners still need to inspect the robot and station. Eureka advises periodically removing remaining hair, string, carpet fibers, and other debris from the brush roll and its ends.
Users should also expect to manage water tanks, mop components, filters, sensors, wheels, and the dock. A dirty camera or sensor, poor lighting, reflective surfaces, incorrectly installed tanks, or a dock the robot cannot reliably reach can affect operation.

- Healthier Home for Your Pets: Maintain clean pet zones with less manual effort, fostering a healthier, happier, and safer environment for your pets.
Who should consider it?
The J15 Max Ultra makes the most sense for households that have:
- Long-haired people or shedding pets.
- Mostly hard flooring.
- Frequent food and drink spills in kitchen or dining areas.
- Open floor plans that allow reliable access to the dock.
- A preference for automated mopping and dock maintenance.
- A willingness to pay a premium for reduced brush cleaning and spill-aware routing.
It is a weaker fit for homes dominated by thick or high-pile carpet, rooms filled with cords and loose fabrics, small spaces where the dock is inconvenient, or buyers who want a basic vacuum rather than a vacuum-and-mop system. It is also the wrong tool for anyone expecting to collect substantial liquid.
Cheaper Eureka alternatives
Eureka’s lower-priced lineup may be more suitable if the Max Ultra’s unusual features are not worth the premium:
- J15 Ultra: Eureka promotes FlexiRazor and advanced mopping or stain-oriented features. The available product information does not establish that it has the J15 Max Ultra’s specific transparent-liquid threshold and response sequence. Prices seen on Eureka pages ranged roughly from $399.99 to $699.99, depending on the promotion.
- J15 Evo Ultra: Listed promotional pricing was $389.99 against a $599.99 reference price. It advertises 22,000-Pa suction and edge-cleaning features, but the supplied evidence does not verify the Max Ultra’s liquid-spill response.
- E20 Plus: Listed at $279.99 promotional pricing against $449.99, with 8,000-Pa suction, a bagless self-emptying station, and DuoDetect AI 3D obstacle avoidance. It lacks verified J15 Max Ultra liquid-detection and FlexiRazor claims.
- E20 Evo Plus: Listed at $199.99 promotional pricing against $399.99. It advertises 10,000-Pa suction, a bagless base, a 45-day hands-free-cleaning claim, Dragonclaw anti-tangle side-brush technology, and an anti-tangle brush roll—but not the Max Ultra’s active FlexiRazor cutting mechanism or liquid-spill response.
See Eureka’s current product lineup and deals page for current models and pricing.
Bottom line
The Eureka J15 Max Ultra’s two standout ideas are real but narrower than the headline implies. It is designed to detect liquid spills above 1.5 mm and switch to a mop-first response, while its dock-based FlexiRazor cycle cuts hair from the roller brush. Those features could be valuable in pet-heavy, hard-floor homes, but they do not guarantee perfect spill recognition, stain removal, or freedom from cords and other jams. Treat the specifications as Eureka’s claims, keep the robot maintained, and buy it for spill-aware cleaning and automated hair-wrap maintenance—not as a self-repairing or wet/dry vacuum.
