What happened on Murray Way
PerthNow reported that emergency services were called to the fire shortly before 1 a.m. The man received first aid at the scene before being taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital with smoke inhalation.

The report said the Department of Fire and Emergency Services took almost an hour to bring the fire under control. It quoted DFES as saying: “Due to the intensity and involvement of the fire, crews employed external firefighting tactics to protect nearby structures.”
Reported damage and investigation status
PerthNow estimated the damage at $250,000. That was the report’s estimate, not a confirmed final loss figure.

When the article was published, Fire Investigation Officers were still at the scene trying to determine the cause. The report did not identify a cause, provide a later investigation finding, or say how the resident subsequently fared.
