Which model should you choose?
Choose the V11 for control and its documented features
The V11 has three modes and an LCD that displays a runtime countdown, mode and maintenance alerts. Its Boost-mode specification is 185 air watts, compared with 45 in Medium and 23 in Eco for the V11 Plus configuration listed in Dyson’s version 4.1.2025 technical sheet. That is useful when you want to select a mode for the task and see the remaining-time estimate while cleaning.

Dyson says the V11 provides 60% more suction than the V8. Treat that as a manufacturer claim: the cited product pages and specification do not establish an independent head-to-head test using a shared method. The V11’s motor is listed at up to 125,000 rpm, while Dyson lists up to 110,000 rpm for the V8; motor speed alone does not establish how either vacuum will perform in every home.
Choose the V8 when lower listed weight or a particular bundle matters
Dyson’s comparison page lists the V8 at 5.6 lb and the V11 at 6.6 lb. Those are rounded model-level figures, not exact weights for every package; the V11 Plus technical sheet, for example, gives 6.52 lb assembled for its specified configuration. If lifting or carrying the vacuum is a deciding factor, the V8’s lower listed weight is relevant. Also compare the exact V8 trim: the V8 Absolute package includes a hard-floor head and HEPA filtration, while the standard listing presents a different package.

How to interpret the runtime numbers
Dyson’s US pages do not give one consistent headline maximum for the V11. Its product page says up to 60 minutes, and the V11 Plus technical sheet assigns 60 minutes to Eco, 30 to Medium and 5 to Boost. The product-family comparison page instead lists up to 40 minutes for the V11 and V8 alike. These are Dyson-published figures for differing page and configuration contexts, not a promise of a particular whole-home cleaning time.
Dyson says actual run time varies with power mode, dust level, floor type and attachments. For a practical comparison, consider which mode you expect to use and the floors and tools in your home; do not treat the maximum Eco figure as the expected runtime on Boost or in every cleaning setup.

Check the exact package before comparing value
V11 and V8 are model families, not guarantees of identical included equipment across listings. Compare the precise product or retailer SKU, including cleaner heads, tools and filtration, against the floors you need to clean. Dyson’s V8 bundle page distinguishes packages; the cited material does not establish a current price or stock comparison, so value depends on the offers and contents available when you shop.
