Dyson’s Spot+Scrub Ai is the 2026 floorcare launch worth watching. The company has introduced four new cordless vacuum entries—the V16 Piston Animal, V16 Piston Animal Submarine variant, V10 Konical and V8 Cyclone—but the robot is doing something more consequential than adding another suction figure. It combines vacuuming, hard-floor washing, AI-assisted stain detection, repeated targeted passes and a mostly automated dock.
That does not make it the best robot vacuum. Independent testing finds a credible, unusually ambitious machine with clear weaknesses in furniture clearance, edge cleaning, stain consistency, hair handling and navigation efficiency. Its appeal is more specific: it could be a strong maintenance robot for a hard-floor home with pets, children and frequent spills.

What the four new Dyson vacuums actually are
The narrow four-product count comes from Dyson’s new cordless lineup, not its entire floorcare launch. A June 2026 lineup report describes three cordless vacuum models plus the wet-cleaning Submarine variant:
| Product | What it is | Why it matters | What remains unclear |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dyson V16 Piston Animal | Flagship cordless vacuum | A 900W Hyperdymium motor and Dyson’s claimed 315 air watts of suction, with anti-tangle cleaning as a central selling point. | Independent performance, battery endurance, noise and value still need to be judged against established cordless rivals. |
| V16 Piston Animal Submarine | The V16 configuration supplied with a wet-cleaning Submarine head | It extends the V16 concept to hard-floor washing instead of being only a dry vacuum. | It is more accurate to describe it as a V16 variant or package than as a completely separate motor platform. |
| Dyson V10 Konical | Cordless vacuum paired with the Auto-empty Dok | It is Dyson’s first self-emptying cordless vacuum system. The dock empties, charges and stores the machine and its tools. | Convenience is clear; comparative dust capacity, noise and long-term dock maintenance deserve hands-on testing. |
| Dyson V8 Cyclone | Refreshed entry-level or midrange cordless model | It gives Dyson a newer option below the V16 and V10 products. | The available lineup evidence does not establish its suction, runtime or value, so those should not be assumed from the name. |
There is one useful accessory detail for shoppers comparing the cordless models: Dyson says V8, V8 Cyclone and V10 Konical accessories are interchangeable. That does not mean every V16 or Submarine attachment will fit, so check the model-specific compatibility list before buying an extra head or tool.

Spot+Scrub Ai is not one of those four cordless vacuums
The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot vacuum belongs in the broader 2026 floorcare conversation, but it should not be counted as a fifth cordless stick vacuum. It is a separate robot vacuum and mop with its own navigation system, wet roller, battery, dock and app.
Dyson’s wider 2026 floorcare activity also includes the PencilVac, PencilWash and Clean+Wash Hygiene. Those products make the overall launch look larger, but they do different jobs. The important editorial distinction is this: the V16, V10 and V8 refine the familiar cordless-vacuum workflow, while Spot+Scrub Ai attempts to automate an entire recurring floor-cleaning routine.
Why Spot+Scrub Ai is the launch I would want to test first
Most new cordless vacuums promise a familiar improvement: more power, a better brush, less hair wrapping or a more convenient charging arrangement. Spot+Scrub Ai is more ambitious. It combines routine robot vacuuming, hard-floor washing, stain recognition, repeated cleaning passes and an automated dock in one system.

That does not make it the best premium robot vacuum by default. Independent testing is mixed, and several competitors outperform it in important areas. But it gives Dyson’s robot a clearer reason to exist than a modest specification refresh.
It can vacuum dry floors and wash hard floors
Spot+Scrub Ai vacuums carpets and hard floors, then uses a wet roller to wash hard flooring. The roller is cleaned with fresh water as it rotates, according to Dyson’s product material. This is a more useful distinction than simply adding a small water tank to a conventional robot: the machine is designed around separate dry-debris pickup and wet-floor cleaning.
There are still practical limits. A robot mop cannot replace a proper cleanup after a plumbing leak, a renovation or a large spill. It also cannot remove every dried-on mark simply because the product uses a wet roller. Its value depends on how reliably it recognizes a mess, returns to it and removes the residue rather than merely lightening its appearance.

The AI stain system is the interesting part—not proof of magic stain removal
Dyson says the robot uses an AI-enabled front-facing camera and green-spectrum illumination to identify hidden stains and distinguish wet and dry spill types. It can perform up to 15 passes over a difficult stain, analyzing the floor between passes and deciding whether another pass is needed.
“Up to 15 passes” is a capability claim, not a guarantee that every stain will be removed in 15 passes or fewer. The real questions are whether detection activates consistently, whether the robot recognizes dried food and coffee, and whether low-contrast or transparent spills confuse the system.
For a meaningful test, I would want to see separate results on dried food, coffee, muddy paw prints and clear liquid. I would also inspect the floor under strong light after cleaning. A stain can look less visible while a sticky or greasy residue remains.
The sensor package is substantial, but furniture clearance is a real design constraint
The robot uses LiDAR, a front-facing HD camera, green-spectrum LEDs, dual-line lasers, drop sensors and edge-follow sensors. Dyson lists 24 sensors in the robot and another 12 in the dock. The official product page also lists maximum suction of 18,000 Pa and automatic carpet suction boosting of up to four times.
Those figures describe the hardware and Dyson’s operating claims; they do not provide a universal ranking against every competing robot. Suction measurements from different manufacturers are not automatically comparable, and cleaning results depend on brush design, airflow, navigation and the floor surface.
The more immediately practical specification is the stated minimum clearance of approximately 4.3 inches under furniture. That may be enough for some sofas and cabinets, but independent testing found the tall robot struggled with many low cabinets and beds. Measure the lowest furniture in the rooms you actually want cleaned. A robot that cannot enter those spaces will leave a predictable strip of dust, regardless of its AI features.
The dock may be the strongest everyday advantage
Spot+Scrub Ai’s hygienic Cyclonic dock self-empties dry debris without disposable bags, self-cleans the robot, refills it and recharges it. Dyson also describes the wet roller being cleaned with fresh water as it rotates.

- 5000Pa Strong Suction: Robot Vacuum With 5000Pa suction power, it effortlessly removes pet hair, dust, and debris from all types of floors. It can also easily clean on short-pile & medium-pile carpets
- Vacuum & Mop in One Go: G8000 Max robot vacuum is equipped with 450 ml dustbin and 300 ml water tank combo, it supports simultaneous vacuuming and mopping in one go. The innovative design reduces cleaning time by 50%, enhancing household efficiency
- Long Battery Life, Always Ready: Up to 150 minutes in quiet mode, meeting daily cleaning needs and automatically recharging when the battery is low, always ready for the next cleaning task
- 4 Control Ways & 4 Cleaning Modes: Supports 4 control methods: App, Remote, Voice, and Button, making it ideal for wives, seniors, and parents. Choose from 4 cleaning modes(Spot, Edge, Zig-zag, and Manual cleaning) to meet your daily cleaning needs. The Zig-zag mode ensures maximum coverage and cleaning efficiency
- Ultra-Slim Design, Smart Sensors: The robot cleaner is 2.99 inches in height, it easily reaches under beds, sofas, and cabinets for thorough cleaning. With anti-collision and anti-fall sensor technology, it intelligently navigates around obstacles, walls, and stairs
That removes several routine tasks associated with older robot vacuums: manually emptying the dustbin after every run, washing the roller by hand immediately after mopping and remembering to recharge the robot. A bagless dock may also appeal to owners who dislike buying proprietary dust bags.
But self-cleaning is not the same as self-maintaining. The dirty-water tank, clean-water tank, filters, roller area and dock channels still need inspection and periodic cleaning. A wet-cleaning robot has more ways to develop odor or accumulate residue than a dry-only robot. The important long-term test is not whether the dock looks automated on day one; it is whether it remains pleasant to use after several weeks of pet hair, muddy footprints and repeated wet runs.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteI would not recommend buying a replacement roller or cleaning kit until the exact Spot+Scrub Ai model compatibility is confirmed. Dyson’s separate hard-floor cleaning products should also not be treated as automatically approved for this robot unless Dyson explicitly lists them for the machine.
Navigation and app controls
Spot+Scrub Ai maps the home with LiDAR and camera-assisted sensing. The MyDyson app supports maps, no-go areas, room-specific vacuum or wash modes, targeted cleaning and activity history. Those controls matter because a robot that can be directed to the kitchen after breakfast or the entryway after muddy shoes is more useful than one that only offers an undifferentiated whole-home cycle.
Dyson’s app guidance confirms room-level cleaning choices and targeted-clean features. Independent testing has nevertheless described the app as less customizable than the best competing systems. That is a meaningful distinction for a multi-floor home or an unusually shaped house: the app appears capable, but buyers should not assume it offers every scheduling, room-priority and fine-grained cleaning control found elsewhere.
WIRED reported accurate room mapping and useful multi-floor mapping. Even so, navigation efficiency was not a clear strength in Vacuum Wars testing, which found the robot slower than the comparison average. A correct map is valuable, but a robot that takes substantially longer to cover the same floor may be less convenient in a large home.

What independent testing says
The available reviews support a measured verdict: Spot+Scrub Ai is a credible and distinctive robot, but it is not an automatic category leader.
| Reviewer | Reported findings | Practical interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| RTINGS | Called it a major improvement over Dyson’s 360 Vis Nav because it adds mopping, an automated dock and better obstacle avoidance. RTINGS also identified the Roborock Saros 10R, Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller and Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 Pro Omni as stronger in important areas. | Dyson has addressed obvious weaknesses in its previous robot, but the upgrade does not settle the premium-robot comparison. |
| Vacuum Wars | Reported approximately average results in several cleaning categories, including 76% embedded-debris removal in carpet deep-clean testing and 81% flattened pet-hair pickup. It did well in a crevice test, but navigation was slower than average and hair wrapping was worse than average. | Do not buy it solely for a best-in-class carpet or long-hair performance claim. |
| WIRED | Rated it 7/10. The review praised mapping and multi-floor mapping, but criticized the tall shape, poor access under low furniture, weak edge cleaning and inconsistent stain results. | Floor-plan compatibility may matter more than the headline AI feature. |
| PCWorld/TechHive | Described it as a polished premium robot for hard floors, pets and everyday clutter, while noting that difficult stains may still need manual follow-up and that a reported price around $1,199 is hard to justify for buyers mainly interested in mopping. | It makes the most sense when buyers will use its vacuuming, stain-targeting and dock automation together. |
These tests use different homes, surfaces and methods, so the percentages and ratings should not be combined into a single laboratory score. Their overlap is more useful than any individual number: the robot is promising on hard floors and everyday automation, but its height, edge performance, stain consistency, hair handling and price all deserve scrutiny.
What I would test before calling it a success
- Stain recognition: Apply comparable dried food, coffee, muddy paw prints and transparent spills to test whether the camera and green-spectrum lighting trigger reliably.
- Residue removal: Check the surface for stickiness and remaining film, not just visible discoloration.
- Furniture access: Measure beds, cabinets, vanities and sofas against the approximately 4.3-inch clearance requirement.
- Carpet transitions: Watch whether the robot moves cleanly between hard floors and rugs, whether it avoids wet cleaning where it should, and whether carpet suction boost activates as intended.
- Hair management: Test long hair, pet hair and debris around the brush and wet roller over repeated runs. Anti-tangle claims do not mean that no manual hair removal will ever be necessary.
- Dock hygiene: Inspect the dirty-water tank, roller, filters and dock channels after several cycles for odor, sludge or trapped debris.
- Bagless convenience: Compare the effort of cleaning the cyclonic dock with the effort of replacing bags in a competing dock. Bag-free does not automatically mean maintenance-free.
- App control: Create multiple maps, divide rooms, set no-go areas and run a targeted clean. This reveals whether the controls fit the home rather than merely existing on a feature list.
Where it makes sense in a construction-minded home
For finished homes with substantial hard flooring, Spot+Scrub Ai could be especially useful in kitchens, hallways, mudrooms and open-plan living areas. Those are the places where fine daily debris, pet hair, food particles and muddy footprints accumulate, and where repeated light cleaning can be more valuable than occasional manual mopping.
It is not a post-construction cleanup machine. Do not send a robot onto a floor covered with drywall dust, screws, nails, tile fragments, plaster, sawdust piles or other trade debris. A proper construction cleanup should happen first, using equipment suited to that material and the manufacturer’s limits. Spot+Scrub Ai is better understood as a maintenance tool for a completed, furnished home.
That distinction also helps explain its likely audience. A household with children, pets and frequent small spills may use the stain-targeting and dock automation every day. A home dominated by carpet, a home with many low cabinets, or a buyer who mainly wants the deepest possible carpet cleaning may get less value from the robot’s extra complexity.

- Choose the V16 Piston Animal if you want Dyson’s flagship cordless format and your main job is dry vacuuming, particularly around pet hair and tangled debris. Its 900W motor and claimed 315 air watts are manufacturer claims, not a substitute for independent testing.
- Consider the V16 Piston Animal Submarine if you want a cordless V16 workflow with a wet-cleaning head for hard floors. Treat it as a package or variant, and verify exactly which heads, tanks and accessories are included.
- Consider the V10 Konical if you want to keep using a handheld or stick vacuum but would rather not empty it after every cleaning session. The Auto-empty Dok provides a different kind of automation from a robot: the user still directs the cleaning, while the dock handles storage, charging and emptying.
- Watch the V8 Cyclone if you want the refreshed lower-priced end of Dyson’s cordless range, but wait for confirmed specifications and independent testing before making claims about runtime, suction or value.
- Watch Spot+Scrub Ai if you want a robot that vacuums and washes hard floors, targets detected spills and returns to a dock that handles much of the routine work.
Privacy and ownership details worth checking
The camera deserves a more careful explanation than either “there is no privacy risk” or “the camera constantly sends your images away.” Product documentation presented in the reviewed retail material says the AI operates within the robot’s secure processing environment and that images are not stored on the robot. That is a product-documentation statement, not an independent privacy certification or a complete answer about every data flow involving the app and cloud services.

Before buying, review Dyson’s current privacy documentation and app permissions for your region. Also check the warranty, replacement-part availability, cleaning-fluid compatibility and return policy. A robot with a wet roller and an automated dock has more components to maintain than a basic dry vacuum, so serviceability is part of the ownership decision.
The verdict
Dyson’s four new cordless entries are relevant updates, especially the V16’s power-focused flagship position and the V10 Konical’s self-emptying dock. But the Spot+Scrub Ai is the launch that changes the cleaning job. It tries to identify messes, revisit them, wash hard floors, manage its own debris and water workflow, and report activity through an app.
The evidence does not support calling it the best robot vacuum. Its tall body, limited low-furniture access, inconsistent stain results, average results in some cleaning tests, slower navigation and premium price leave obvious compromises. Its AI may reduce manual intervention, but it will not eliminate manual stain treatment or routine maintenance.
For a hard-floor home with pets, children, frequent spills and enough clearance beneath furniture, Spot+Scrub Ai is a genuinely interesting Dyson launch. For a carpet-heavy home, a low-clearance floor plan or a buyer seeking the strongest tested navigation and cleaning performance at any price, comparison shopping is essential.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai one of the four new Dyson vacuums?
No. The four-product count refers to Dyson’s new cordless lineup: V16 Piston Animal, V16 Piston Animal Submarine, V10 Konical and V8 Cyclone. Spot+Scrub Ai is a separate robot vacuum and mop in Dyson’s broader 2026 floorcare range.
Does Spot+Scrub Ai remove every stain automatically?
Not necessarily. Dyson says Spot+Scrub Ai can detect wet and dry spill types and make up to 15 passes over difficult stains, but independent testing found inconsistent stain results. Dried, greasy or low-contrast marks may still need manual treatment.
