Not on the evidence available. COSORI says its Iconic 6.5-quart smart air fryer has a stainless-steel structure and ceramic-coated cooking surfaces described as free of PFAS and BPA. Those material claims do not show that the appliance prevents microplastic exposure or improves health outcomes. No independent test measuring particle release from this exact model during use is established by the sources reviewed here.
What materials does the COSORI Iconic use?
COSORI describes the Iconic as a combination of stainless steel, tempered glass, and ceramic-coated nonstick cooking surfaces. The company lists the food-contact basket as 304 stainless steel and the exterior and structure as 430 stainless steel. It describes the cooking-surface coating as free of PFAS and BPA. So the appliance is not described as wholly stainless steel: it has a coating, a glass panel, and internal components. Nor does the brand’s “96% metal” figure mean that 96% of the fryer’s weight is metal. COSORI says this percentage refers to visible surface area and excludes the power cord, tempered-glass panel, non-visible areas, and internal components. Does stainless steel or a PFAS-free coating mean fewer microplastics in food?
It cannot be concluded from the material description alone. Stainless steel and a ceramic-coated food-contact surface describe what COSORI says the product is made of; neither statement measures whether particles are released during cooking. Likewise, “PFAS-free” and “BPA-free” are claims about the cooking surfaces, not evidence of zero exposure or a demonstrated health benefit.

The World Health Organization’s 2022 assessment considered dietary and inhalation exposure to nano- and microplastics from environmental sources, using evidence reviewed through December 2021. WHO identified uncertainties and research needs. It was not a test of the Iconic, air-frying surfaces, or particle migration during cooking, so it cannot establish that this appliance reduces exposure. WHO’s 2022 assessment
