Construction on a new McDonald’s at 5/11 Waltham Street in Halls Head was reported to have begun in February 2025. The announcement outlined planned facilities, an estimated investment and projected jobs, but the restaurant’s opening status and current hours have not been confirmed.
What was announced in February 2025
A report by Rachel Fenner in the Mandurah Times, republished by PerthNow on 26 February 2025, said work had begun at 5/11 Waltham Street, Halls Head. The restaurant was then expected to open later in 2025. That forecast period has passed, and the report does not establish whether the site has since opened.
The report named licensee Clayton McIntosh as the expected owner-operator. At the time, it said he employed more than 280 people across restaurants in Busselton, Falcon and Vasse. Read the PerthNow/Mandurah Times report.

These were features described in the 2025 announcement; it did not confirm which were ultimately installed or completed.
Investment and jobs were projections
The report put the project’s expected local economic contribution at more than $7.86 million. It also projected about 180 jobs: 100 during construction and 80 operational roles once the restaurant opened. Those figures were forecasts reported in February 2025, not verified final investment or employment totals.

McIntosh said: “We are excited to start construction on a new restaurant in Mandurah and create 100 construction jobs, as well as a further 80 operational jobs once the restaurant opens,” he said. He also said the restaurant was committed to supporting local jobs, training and development, and local causes and groups. These are statements attributed to McIntosh in the original report, not confirmation that the projected jobs or community support were delivered.

The February 2025 article’s expected opening later that year is no longer a current opening estimate. The available report does not confirm whether the restaurant is now operating, its hours, or the present availability of its drive-through, McCafé or PlayPlace. Check a current McDonald’s location listing or contact the operator for those details before making a trip.
