If your Coleman SaluSpa shows E02, stops heating, or leaks where the pump connects, start with the symptom and check the instructions for your exact model. Many problems have simple causes—such as a blocked filter or an uncovered spa—but electrical warnings and persistent faults need manufacturer support. Coleman and other SaluSpa models use different pump and jet configurations, so reset steps and replacement parts are not universal.
Start with the model and the symptom
Before trying a reset or ordering a part, find the spa’s model number and identify whether it uses AirJet or HydroJet, and an external or integrated pump. Check the owner’s manual for that configuration. Bestway’s general error-code guidance gives useful clues, but the precise thresholds and procedures in your manual take priority.
The checks below are manufacturer guidance, not independent repair testing. Do not open or attempt to repair pump internals. For a persistent fault, use Bestway customer support and have the model number and displayed code ready.
Why is my Coleman SaluSpa showing E02?
Bestway says E02 means the flow sensors are not detecting enough water flow for filtration or heating. Its guidance describes E02 as common, but does not provide an independent failure-rate statistic. Work through the external flow checks before concluding that a component has failed. See Bestway’s E02 troubleshooting guide.

- Remove the stopper caps. Before operating the pump, remove both caps from the tub’s water ports.
- Inspect the filter cartridge. Clean it, or replace it if it is dirty or damaged. Use the cartridge specified for your model.
- Check the screens and hoses. Clear visible debris or mineral buildup from the screens, and look for kinked or obstructed hoses.
- Confirm water is returning to the tub. If water flows but E02 remains, Bestway says the flow sensor may be faulty. If there is no return flow, the pump may be the problem.
Bestway also lists cold setup conditions, liner inflation, and filter-housing tightness among possible checks. Their relevance depends on the model and conditions; consult the owner’s manual rather than applying a cold-weather procedure to every spa. If E02 persists after basic flow checks, stop troubleshooting and contact support.
What do other SaluSpa error codes mean?
These meanings come from Bestway’s general error-code guide. Thresholds and reset instructions can differ by pump version, so verify them in your model’s manual.

| Code | What it may indicate | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| E01 | Flow sensors register flow when filtering or heating is not active. | Bestway suggests unplugging the pump and gently tapping its side to reseat a sensor flag. If the fault returns, contact support; do not open the pump. |
| E03 | The pump reads water below its operating threshold. Bestway’s 2023 guide specifies below 40°F for this code. | Check the actual water temperature and the manual’s operating limits. If the reading remains implausible after conditions normalize, the temperature sensor may be faulty. |
| E04 | The pump reads water above its operating threshold. Bestway’s 2023 guide gives 119°F as the high-reading threshold. | Allow the water to cool and follow the manual’s reset procedure. Direct sun or high ambient temperatures may contribute. |
| E05 | The internal thermometer is reported as malfunctioning. | Contact manufacturer support rather than attempting internal repair. |
| E08 | The thermal cutout has activated. | Let the system cool and restart only as directed by the model’s manual. |
| E18 or GCF | A grounding or electrical warning. | Stop and follow the manual’s instructions for support or an electrician. Never bypass ground-fault protection. |
| E15 | Bestway’s guide associates this code with the Wi-Fi module. | The guide says the spa may still be operated from the control panel. Confirm this behavior in your model-specific guide. |
The 40°F and 119°F figures are thresholds in Bestway’s 2023 guide, not recommended bathing temperatures or substitutes for the limits in your owner’s manual. The Coleman 2021 manual says to restart after a thermal-cutout event only when the water has reached 95°F or lower.
Why is my SaluSpa not heating?
The Coleman-branded 2021 manual lists several possible causes besides a failed heating element. Check them in a practical order:

Why did the bubbles or massage function stop?
The Coleman manual lists an overheated air pump, automatic massage shutoff, or broken air pump as possible causes. For the overheating case described in that manual, unplug the pump and let it cool for two hours. If the massage function stopped automatically, press the massage button again as directed. Button names and cooling procedures vary by model; persistent failure needs support.
Why is the control panel unresponsive?
On the cited manuals, the control panel locks automatically after five minutes without activity. If the lock icon is lit, hold the lock button for three seconds. If that does not unlock it, restart the pump as directed in the manual. Contact support if the panel remains unresponsive. A blank or unlit panel may have a different cause, so do not assume the auto-lock procedure applies.

How do I stop a leak where the pump connects?
Limit water loss before checking the connection. Put the stopper caps into the tub ports before disconnecting anything. Then check whether the adapter seals are present, correctly seated, or damaged. Reposition a misplaced seal, replace a damaged one, and hand-tighten the adapters as the manual specifies. If the connection still leaks or a part is damaged, contact support.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How do I find a liner air leak?
A loose air valve or puncture can cause the liner to lose air. For a suspected valve leak, Bestway advises checking with soapy water: bubbles at the valve indicate escaping air. Tighten the valve only by the method in your model’s manual. For a puncture, use the supplied repair patch and follow the manual’s repair instructions.

What should I do if the GFCI test fails?
Treat a failed GFCI test as an electrical protection fault, not a nuisance alarm. The manuals direct owners to contact Bestway support. Follow the manual’s safety instructions and consult an electrician as appropriate. Do not use the spa by bypassing or defeating the GFCI.
Why is the water cloudy or not clean?
The Coleman manual lists insufficient filtration, a dirty filter cartridge, and improper water maintenance as possible causes. Increase filtration time as directed, clean or replace the cartridge, and follow the chemical product manufacturer’s instructions. Do not add chemicals based on a generic dose; the correct treatment depends on the product label and water-test results.
When should I call support or replace a part?
Contact support when an alarm remains after the model-specific external checks, a sensor or heater appears to have failed, a GFCI test fails, or a leak involves a damaged part. Do not attempt electrical pump repairs. If considering a replacement pump, match it to the spa’s exact model and configuration. Bestway’s SaluSpa AirJet heater pump listing explicitly names Coleman AirJet portable hot tubs with external pumps; that does not establish compatibility with every Coleman SaluSpa. Verify compatibility before ordering.
