Verdict: Cedreo is a browser-based residential design and presentation platform that excels at quick floor plans, 3D visuals, and client proposals. It is not a complete replacement for architectural CAD, BIM, structural engineering, or a permit-documentation workflow.
What is Cedreo?
Cedreo combines 2D floor-plan drawing, 3D home modeling, furnishings, materials, landscaping, and presentation exports in a cloud application. It is marketed primarily to residential contractors, remodelers, home builders, and interior designers. The product sits between consumer home-planning apps and deeper desktop tools such as Chief Architect.

That positioning matters. Cedreo can help communicate a design and produce attractive residential concepts, but the word “architecture” in its marketing does not mean it provides the full parametric, structural, engineering, code-analysis, or BIM coordination capabilities of a professional architecture suite. See Cedreo’s stated feature set at cedreo.com/features/.
Cedreo says it has more than two million users and describes the interface as easy to learn. Those are company claims, not independent performance tests. A basic house may be quick to create, but accuracy, polished presentations, and repeatable production workflows still require training and checking.

Features and workflow
Floor plans
Cedreo provides tools for walls and partitions, doors, windows, room dimensions, automatic dimensioning, magnetic snapping, angle calculations, metric and imperial units, room labels, and surface-area information. Cedreo describes these as true-to-scale 2D plans, but users should still verify dimensions before issuing anything to a client or trade.
Importing existing plans
The application says it can import JPG, PNG, PDF, DXF, and DWG files. The stated workflow is to upload a drawing, set its scale, and trace or rebuild it with Cedreo’s tools. This is useful for remodelers, but a reference underlay is not automatically an editable native CAD or BIM model. Confirm scale with a known wall or dimension, and check alignment before tracing. Details are in the application FAQ.
3D design and rendering
You can furnish rooms, apply materials, set lighting and environments, and create interior and exterior views. Cedreo also promotes cloud-powered photorealistic rendering and says images can be generated in under five minutes. That timing should be treated as a Cedreo claim unless you measure it on your own hardware and project.
Before buying, check the actual image resolution, camera controls, daylight and nighttime results, material scale, landscaping realism, watermark rules, and the number of credits consumed by each render. A client revision may require another credit.

- Draw walls and rooms on one or more levels
- Arrange doors, windows and furniture in the plan
- Customize colors and texture of furniture, walls, floors and ceilings
- View all changes simultaneously in the 3D view
- Import more 3D models and textures, and export plans and renderings
Site, roof, and exterior design
Tools cover site planning, roofs, exterior materials, driveways, patios, pools, decks, landscaping, and other outdoor elements. This broader context is a practical advantage when a proposal must show how an addition or new home sits on its site.
Documents and exports
Cedreo lists floor plans, site plans, roof plans, elevations, cross-sections, presentation documents, surface-area tables, symbols, and plan details. Listed output formats include PDF, JPG, and DXF-related exports. Export availability does not establish that a file contains every layer, line weight, assembly, schedule, or code item required by a local authority. Test an export in the downstream CAD system you actually use.
Catalog, collaboration, and support
The built-in library includes furnishings, materials, room symbols, and landscaping content. The free tier has limited catalog access; paid plans provide broader access. Public information does not establish the full extent of custom-object importing or reusable custom libraries, so verify those functions for your workflow.

Enterprise is intended for project sharing and team collaboration. Cedreo plans and restrictions
Plan mechanics are clearer than the numerical prices exposed in the retrieved pricing material. Check the live Cedreo pricing page for your country, currency, tax treatment, and billing date.
| Plan | Projects | Rendering allowance | Other limits and benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | One | Five photorealistic renders | Limited catalog, watermarked images, personal use, no credit card required |
| Personal | One; additional personal projects can be purchased | 20 rendering credits | Full catalog, downloadable blueprints, watermarked personal-use output; one-time purchase structure |
| Professional | Unlimited | 40 per month | No watermark, blueprint downloads, full catalog, paid-user support, Success Manager; monthly credits do not roll over |
| Enterprise | Team-oriented | 80 per user per month | Project sharing and collaboration; custom or sales-led pricing |
Cedreo says Free accounts remain accessible for three years and Personal accounts for ten years. Professional and Enterprise monthly allowances expire rather than accumulating; annual subscribers’ credits expire on the corresponding monthly subscription date. Separately purchased rendering credits remain until used, according to Cedreo’s plan information.
Subscriptions can be canceled before the billing cycle ends, but unused time is not refunded. Downgrades are restricted: Cedreo says users cannot move from Personal to Free, Pro to Personal, or Enterprise to Pro or Personal. These rules make the free tier a trial rather than a dependable commercial archive.

There are no specific sample plans dedicated exclusively for pools, decks, or patios, although these items may be in some of the existing sample plans.
Is Cedreo suitable for construction documents?
Cedreo can create useful presentation documentation: dimensioned floor plans, elevations, sections, roof and site views, and PDFs for explaining a proposal. It should not automatically be treated as a permit-ready construction-document system.
Structural design, engineering calculations, mechanical, electrical and plumbing coordination, energy-code information, local symbols, schedules, and authority-specific requirements may require other software and licensed professional review. A polished rendering communicates design intent; it does not certify that a building can be constructed or approved.
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
- Browser delivery avoids installation and simplifies access across supported computers.
- Floor plans, furnishings, site context, and 3D views share one workflow.
- Fast visual communication for sales meetings and design approvals.
- Import-and-trace workflow can help with existing-home remodels.
- Accessible to teams that do not need the complexity of a full CAD/BIM suite.
Weaknesses
- A stable internet connection and supported browser are required.
- Rendering allowances, watermarks, and expiring credits affect real operating cost.
- Public pricing may be difficult to compare until you select a region and billing option.
- Advanced modeling, engineering, and BIM coordination are outside its core purpose.
- Export depth, layer preservation, and custom-object flexibility need workflow-specific verification.
System requirements and browser dependence
Cedreo says it is 100% browser-based and works on Windows and Mac with a stable internet connection. Its current pricing page recommends Windows 11, an Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor or better, at least 16 GB of RAM, a computer less than four years old, a MacBook Pro for Mac users, and a mouse with a high-resolution display. Supported macOS versions are listed as 12, 15, and 16 on that page. Cedreo also says Windows 10 and macOS 13 and 14 are no longer guaranteed after its stated support changes.

Chief Architect Premier
Chief Architect lists Premier at $1,995 annually or $229 monthly in U.S. pricing, including upgrades, premium catalog downloads, and priority support: chiefarchitect.com/software-subscription/. It is the stronger choice when detailed residential building intelligence matters more than browser simplicity.
Home Designer
Home Designer lists $495 annually or $79 monthly in U.S. pricing and targets DIY residential design and remodeling: homedesigner.chiefarchitect.com. It is installed software, not a browser-first service.
SketchUp
SketchUp Go is listed at $10.75 per user per month billed annually or $19.99 monthly; Pro is $33.25 annually billed monthly equivalent or $99.99 monthly in U.S. pricing. Go includes web and iPad modeling, while Pro adds the desktop modeler and LayOut-oriented professional workflow. See SketchUp plans and pricing. SketchUp is more flexible but generally requires more manual modeling for a residential house.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Planner 5D
Planner 5D lists Free, Premium at $4.99 monthly when paid annually or $19.99 monthly, and Professional at $33.33 monthly when paid annually or $49.99 monthly: planner5d.com/pricing. It is attractive for homeowners and interior concepts, but less suited to professional construction documentation.
Who should buy Cedreo?
- Contractors and remodelers: Yes, when client communication and fast options are the priority.
- Home builders: Yes, for repeatable residential concepts and sales visuals, provided technical documentation is handled elsewhere.
- Interior designers: Often yes, especially for whole-house layouts and exterior context.
- DIY homeowners: Try the free plan first; compare its restrictions with Planner 5D or Home Designer.
- Architects and engineers: Consider it a presentation companion, not your sole technical platform.
- Students: Useful for learning basic residential visualization, but not a substitute for learning professional documentation tools.
Final verdict
Cedreo is a compelling specialized tool when the job is to turn residential ideas into clear plans and attractive 3D presentations quickly. Its browser-based workflow, built-in catalog, site tools, and client-friendly output can save time for contractors, remodelers, builders, and designers. The trade-off is depth: internet dependence, rendering economics, restricted account transitions, and a less complete technical workflow than professional CAD, BIM, or engineering software.
