It is not a stand-up camper cabin: at 1.3 m high when deployed, it is designed for lying down and sitting up. Its specification lists insulation, ventilation and an external electrical connection, while describing off-grid options as available—not standard equipment.
What the Maverick flat-pack camper pod is—and is not
The Maverick is best understood as a lockable, insulated double bedroom for compact accommodation, rather than a small cabin with room to stand, cook or live in. New Atlas’s June 19, 2023 coverage describes its 1.3 m maximum height as suitable for lying down and sitting up, but not standing: New Atlas’s Maverick coverage.
That distinction matters when assessing it for off-grid escapades. The available evidence establishes a sleeping space and some construction and electrical details; it does not establish that the unit comes with solar panels, batteries, water storage, cooking equipment or climate control.
Dimensions, weight and construction

The packed height is 300 mm, compared with 1300 mm deployed. That gives a useful sense of how low-profile the unit becomes for storage, but it does not establish that it will fit a particular vehicle, trailer or loading arrangement. At 160 kg, transport and handling also need to be planned around the actual lifting and carrying equipment available.
How the Maverick foldaway pod works
The specification says the pod deploys in less than five minutes, but that is a product claim; the reviewed coverage does not provide an independently measured setup time or a step-by-step deployment procedure. Confirm the manufacturer’s instructions and the required number of people and equipment before planning an installation.

- Set it up using the supplied instructions. The specification claims deployment in under five minutes, but does not establish the conditions for that figure.
- Use it as a low sleeping pod. Its deployed dimensions are 2250 × 1800 × 1300 mm; New Atlas characterizes the interior as suitable for lying down and sitting up rather than standing.
The sequence above explains the product’s intended change from flat pack to shelter, not a substitute for the maker’s assembly instructions. The available specification does not set out site preparation, anchoring, crew requirements or a tested setup method.
What stacking two pods means
The Maverick specification says units can stack up to two storeys. New Atlas also reports two-high stacking and describes adjustable legs that retract for stacking. This makes the stackable pod concept relevant where a compact sleeping footprint matters, but it does not establish a structural load rating, allowable site conditions or independent certification. The sources reviewed do not provide structural loading data.

For a construction or accommodation decision, request the current installation details and structural documentation for the intended arrangement. The stated two-storey limit is a product claim, not enough by itself to determine whether a particular base, site or use is suitable.
Weather protection, power and off-grid options
The product sheet describes the Maverick as storm proof and lockable, and lists 50 mm XPS insulation and ventilation. Those details identify claimed features; the reviewed sources do not include independent weather-performance tests, insulation-performance figures or certification. Treat “storm proof” as the maker’s wording rather than a quantified guarantee for any particular exposure.

The specification lists a 16 amp external IP-rated trailing plug, two USB sockets in the door and an LED light. It also says off-grid options are available. It does not establish which options are offered, what they cost, or that a self-contained solar, battery or water system is included. Verify the electrical arrangement, supply requirements and any off-grid equipment directly with the supplier before specifying the pod for a site.

- Current availability and terms: The technical sheet names Cube Modular as the contact, but the available information does not confirm whether the Maverick is currently offered, its price, warranty or after-sales support. Cube Modular describes its work in bespoke modular portable buildings at its official site; ask directly about the Maverick and current terms.
- Transport and handling: Confirm access, lifting points, delivery method and handling requirements for a 160 kg unit. The listed dimensions alone do not prove compatibility with a particular vehicle or trailer.
- Usable space: Check the intended sleeping arrangement and the precise interior floor dimensions. The specification provides external deployed dimensions but does not state interior floor measurements; the fit of a particular sleeping mat is therefore unverified.
- Installation and stacking: Obtain the setup instructions, site requirements and structural documentation for the proposed configuration rather than relying only on the under-five-minute and two-storey product claims.
- Utilities and performance: Clarify what the 16 amp connection entails, what off-grid options are actually available, and what evidence supports weather and insulation performance for the conditions you expect.
How to compare it with other compact shelters
Compare like with like: packed dimensions and weight; deployed floor area and headroom; occupancy and sleeping layout; setup method and whether setup times are independently tested; weather protection, insulation and ventilation evidence; included versus optional utilities; and stacking limits. Ask for current price, warranty and support terms as well. A generic flat-pack shelter article may discuss broader ideas such as utilities or emergency use, but those concepts are not evidence that the Maverick includes those capabilities.
