The Nest’s August Google Store promotion was scheduled to end August 23, while Samsung’s latest verified listing showed the Galaxy Watch Ultra at $649.99 with trade-in and instant-credit incentives.
For now, treat the reported 2024 Black Friday prices—$229.99 for the Nest and $469 for the Galaxy Watch Ultra—as historical benchmarks, not current prices or promises about Black Friday 2026.

Google Nest Learning Thermostat deal
The product in question is the fourth-generation Nest Learning Thermostat. Google Store advertised $40 off from August 12, 2026, at 3:45 p.m. PDT through August 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PDT, while supplies lasted. The offer was for U.S. residents using U.S. shipping addresses and generally could not be combined with promotional codes or simultaneous bundle offers unless the promotion’s terms provided an exception. See the Google Store offer terms.

- Savings you can count on: The Nest Learning Thermostat can help save up to 31% on heating and cooling bills[2]
- Improved compatibility: It works with most 24V systems, including gas, electric, oil, forced air, heat pump, and radiant, and no C wire is required for installation in most homes; visit the Nest Compatibility Checker for more info[5]
- Easy control in the Google Home app: Adjust on your phone from anywhere[1] or by using your voice with Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant smart speaker[3], it’s easy to install yourself and it’s Matter compatible for simple integration into your smart home[5]
- Beautiful design: With a 60% larger display[11] and Dynamic Farsight, you can see info from across the room[1]; choose the design, like a clock or the weather; it automatically adjusts brightness for the best readability or you can adjust manually
That was a summer promotion, not an early Black Friday deal. The supplied information does not verify that it was extended or replaced by another current discount.
Should you buy the Nest now?
Buy only if you need a thermostat soon, the discount is meaningful after any available utility rebate, and your HVAC system is compatible. If your current thermostat works reliably, waiting is reasonable—particularly if you are targeting a price near the $229.99 reported during Black Friday 2024. That figure is a reference point, not a forecast or a confirmed 2026 price.

- Identify your system type, including conventional heating and cooling, heat-pump equipment, and single- or multi-stage systems.
- Photograph the existing thermostat wiring and check whether the system has the required power connection. Do not assume that every home has a usable C-wire.
- Account for accessories such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, or other uncommon control wiring.
- Use Google’s compatibility process and have a professional handle the installation if the wiring or equipment is uncertain.
- Allow for Google Home setup, Wi-Fi, and app requirements.
- Check your electric or gas utility for a thermostat rebate before purchasing. Availability, eligibility, and timing vary by location; do not assume a rebate applies.
Compare the complete cost: thermostat, installation, possible accessories, and the price after any verified utility incentive.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra deal
The relevant model is the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025), listed in the supplied Samsung purchase information as a 47mm LTE watch priced at $649.99. Samsung’s June 2026 MSRP document also lists Ultra LTE variants at $649.99. The current listing can be checked on Samsung’s purchase page.
Samsung’s page showed two different kinds of incentive: up to $250 in instant trade-in credit and a separate $100 instant credit without trade-in, both subject to eligibility and promotion terms. The $250 figure is not a universal $250 price cut. Your result depends on the eligible device, its condition, the offer selected, and the applicable terms.

What to check in a trade-in offer
- Whether your exact old phone or watch appears on Samsung’s eligible-device list.
- Condition, power, screen, lock, and account-removal requirements.
- Whether the credit is applied instantly or adjusted after inspection.
- Whether returning the new watch causes the trade-in credit to be forfeited or changes the refund.
- Shipping deadlines and the consequences of an inspection mismatch.
Compare the final price with and without trade-in. A direct discount is easier to evaluate and does not require giving up a device that may have meaningful resale or replacement value.
Who should consider the Ultra?
Samsung lists a titanium case, sapphire crystal, dual-frequency GPS, Quick Button, and BioActive Sensor. Samsung also claims up to 100 hours in Power Saving Mode and up to 48 hours in Exercise Power Saving Mode. Those are manufacturer claims for specified modes, not independent battery-test results.
The Ultra makes the most sense for someone who specifically wants a large, rugged, outdoor-oriented watch, advanced fitness and health features, or LTE connectivity. Confirm phone compatibility before buying: Android and Galaxy integration matters, some health features depend on Samsung phones, Samsung Health Monitor, regional availability, or regulatory approval, and LTE service may require a compatible carrier plan and recurring monthly charges.

- Programmable smart thermostat that learns your schedule and the temperatures you like and programs itself to help you save energy and stay comfortable
- Home/Away Assist automatically adjusts itself to an Eco Temperature after you leave, so you don’t heat or cool an empty home; remote control lets you change the temperature from anywhere on your phone, laptop, or tablet[1]
- With Energy History, just check your phone to see how much energy you used and why, or use Quick View on the display to reach Energy History, settings, or your schedule; the Nest Leaf appears when you choose a temperature that saves energy
- Smart thermostat with HVAC monitoring, which looks out for your heating and cooling systems; sends an alert if something doesn’t seem right, along with helpful reminders to make maintenance easier[2]
- The Nest Learning Thermostat works with the Nest Temperature Sensor (sold separately) to help make sure a certain room is the exact temperature you want it to be
The 47mm case may be too large or heavy for some wrists. If you do not need LTE, outdoor durability, or the Ultra’s largest format, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch8 may be a more sensible alternative. Samsung’s June 2026 MSRP sheet lists Watch8 models from $349.99 to $429.99 depending on size and LTE configuration. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic is another option, with listed Bluetooth pricing of $499.99 and LTE pricing of $549.99. Verify current prices before purchase.
Should you buy the Galaxy Watch Ultra now?
Buy now only if the $100 no-trade-in credit or your specific trade-in produces a price you consider acceptable, and you already have a compatible Android/Galaxy setup. Wait if you are aiming for a direct price near the $469 reported at Amazon during Black Friday 2024, do not need LTE, or want to avoid buying close to a possible model transition. The $469 price is historical and does not establish what Samsung or Amazon will charge in 2026.

- ENERGY STAR certified smart thermostat for home that helps you save energy and stay comfortable.Connectivity : Wi-Fi - 802.11b/g/n 2.4 GHz, 802.11a/n 5 GHz Wi-Fi., Wireless interconnect : Bluetooth Low Energy Please refer to the product description section below for all applicable legal disclaimers.Product note: You can also check your system’s compatibility before purchasing a Nest thermostat with our online Nest Compatibility Checker on the Google Nest support page
- The Nest Thermostat is designed to work without a C wire in most homes, but for some systems, including heating only, cooling only, zone controlled, and heat pump systems, you’ll need a C wire or other compatible power accessory
- Nest Thermostat turns itself down when you leave, so you don’t waste energy heating or cooling an empty home. Lock feature: No
- Programmable thermostat that lets you create an energy efficient schedule in the Google Home app on your Android or iPhone
- Remote control lets family members change the thermostat temperature from anywhere on a phone, laptop, or tablet[1]
- Choose the Nest for smart-home climate control, scheduling, and potential energy-management benefits—after verifying HVAC compatibility.
- Choose the Galaxy Watch Ultra for fitness, outdoor tracking, health features, or LTE smartwatch use—after verifying phone and carrier compatibility.
- Choose neither on discount alone if installation, utility rebates, trade-in conditions, or recurring LTE costs have not been calculated.
Raw discount percentages are misleading here. The Nest’s main purchase risk is an incompatible or complicated HVAC system. The watch’s main risks are ecosystem restrictions, its large case, the high outright price, and ongoing LTE costs.
What would count as a good Black Friday price?
Use these figures as shopping targets rather than predictions:
- Nest Learning Thermostat: a price around or below the reported 2024 Black Friday price of $229.99 would be meaningful, provided it is for the fourth-generation model and the retailer is authorized.
- Galaxy Watch Ultra: a new unit near the reported $469 Amazon price would be a strong direct-price offer, especially without requiring trade-in.
Keep direct price cuts separate from trade-in promotions. A headline such as “save $250” may represent the maximum value for a qualifying old device, not a $250 reduction available to every buyer.
Black Friday buying checklist
- Confirm the exact generation, size, connectivity, and finish.
- Check the retailer’s live price and stock immediately before ordering.
- For the Nest, verify HVAC wiring, system type, installation needs, and utility rebates.
- For the watch, check phone compatibility, health-feature limitations, trade-in inspection rules, and carrier LTE fees.
- Compare the final delivered cost, not the headline saving.
- Read return and warranty terms, especially when a trade-in is involved.
- Do not treat a 2024 deal as a live 2026 deal or an expected Black Friday price.
Where to monitor verified offers
Check the Google Store offers page for the Nest and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Ultra purchase page for current pricing and incentives. Amazon, Best Buy, and other authorized retailers may offer different prices, but a listing should be treated as a deal only when the seller, model, condition, warranty, shipping, and return policy are clear.
For context, the historical prices came from 9to5Google’s 2024 Black Friday deal report. They should remain in a separate historical comparison, not in a table of live offers.
