The headline “Bill And Wendy Hornbuckle Lists Las Vegas Starter House For $3 Million” is not supported by any source we could find. No listing, listing agent statement, property address, or public record ties the Hornbuckles to a $3 million home for sale in Las Vegas. What can be confirmed is a different transaction: a reported $8.25 million purchase of an Anthem Country Club home in January 2022. That sale does not establish that the $3 million listing exists, and it does not describe a starter home.
What the reporting actually confirms
Three pieces of reporting touch on Bill Hornbuckle and his wife, Wendy. None of them mention a $3 million listing.
- Bill Hornbuckle’s role at MGM Resorts. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on May 8, 2025, that MGM Resorts said Hornbuckle would remain president and CEO through the end of 2028. According to that article, he became acting CEO in March 2020 and was named president and CEO in July 2020. Paul Salem, chairman of MGM Resorts’ board, described him as “an exceptional, visionary leader who successfully guided the company through the COVID-19 pandemic” while positioning the business for long-term growth. That is corporate background, not evidence about real estate.
- Their philanthropy. The Review-Journal reported on October 28, 2025, that the couple were named co-chairs of the Nevada Campaign for Kids, organized through the Intermountain Foundation to support a planned children’s hospital in Southern Nevada. The campaign’s stated project cost is $1 billion, a figure that describes the hospital, not a house.
- A 2022 home purchase. A Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties blog post dated March 28, 2022, repeated reporting that the Hornbuckles paid $8.25 million for a home in Anthem Country Club in January 2022. The post attributed the details to property records and the Review-Journal.
The documented Anthem Country Club purchase
The 2022 sale is the only verified-looking home transaction connected to the couple in the material we reviewed, and it is worth describing precisely. The reported property is a one-story home of 6,318 square feet with five bedrooms, 5½ bathrooms, and a four-car split garage. The price, $8.25 million, was reported for a January 2022 purchase.
That account is secondary: a brokerage’s blog reproducing reporting from another outlet. It also describes a purchase, not a sale or listing. Nothing in it names a second property, a listing date, or a lower asking price.

Why the $3 million listing cannot be confirmed
A news headline that combines a famous name, a price, and a loaded term like “starter house” needs at least one checkable anchor. The table below shows where each element of the headline stands.
| Element of the headline | Status in available sources |
|---|---|
| Bill and Wendy Hornbuckle listed a home | Not established. No listing page, agent statement, or news report found. |
| The home is in Las Vegas | Not established for any listing. The 2022 purchase was in Anthem Country Club, Henderson-area reporting attributed to Las Vegas coverage, not a listing. |
| Asking price of $3 million | Not stated in any source found. |
| Property is a “starter house” | Not stated. No source defines the term or links it to a specific property. |
| Listing is the same home as the 2022 purchase | Not established. The 2022 sale was at $8.25 million, and no source links it to a $3 million offering. |
| Listing agent or brokerage | Not stated. |
| Listing date | Not stated. |
The most plausible explanations for a headline like this are a misread listing, a confusion between a purchase and a sale, or a sensational label applied to a different property. None of these can be confirmed from the sources available, so readers should treat the headline as an unverified claim.
Figures that do not belong to this story
Some numbers circulating alongside the Hornbuckles’ name are real but unrelated to real estate. The $1 billion campaign figure and the statement that more than 29,000 children from Nevada traveled outside the state for specialty care, reported by Intermountain Health in 2023, describe healthcare needs and fundraising. They should not be used to size or price a home.
Similarly, no real-estate market statistic in the available material validates a $3 million price for any Las Vegas home or for a “starter” category in the area.

How to check a listing claim like this yourself
Anyone reading a headline like this can test it in a few steps. Each step either confirms the listing or narrows the question.
- Search the exact street address or the phrase with the price in quotation marks. A real listing usually appears on the brokerage’s site and on major listing portals within days of going live.
- Check whether the article names a property address, parcel number, or listing agent. If none is given, the claim cannot be matched to a property.
- Look up the parcel in the Clark County Assessor’s property records. Ownership and sale history are public, and they show whether the named owners hold the property and when they acquired it.
- Compare the reported square footage, bedroom count, and lot size against the assessor’s data. A mismatch means the article may describe a different property.
- Ask the publication for its source. A reputable outlet should be able to name the document, agent, or record behind a price claim.
What would change this assessment
The claim would become verifiable if any of the following appeared: a listing page with a street address and asking price; a statement from a listing agent or the Hornbuckles’ representatives; a public record showing a recorded listing or sale at $3 million; or a news article that identifies the property and price with a named source. Until one of those exists, the headline should be treated as unconfirmed.

For readers and builders interested in Las Vegas-area homes, the documented 2022 Anthem Country Club sale at $8.25 million is the only confirmed-looking data point. Its size and price describe a luxury property, and nothing in the record makes it a starter home.
For readers following the family’s public activity, the MGM Resorts leadership timeline and the children’s hospital campaign are documented in the Review-Journal reporting cited above. Neither bears on the claimed listing.
