The right choice depends on the specific slab, the room’s light, and the nearby cabinets, flooring, and finishes. Start by comparing Chantilly Lace OC-65, Decorator’s White OC-149, and White Ice OC-58 against your marble; if a cool white feels stark, add a warmer option such as Simply White OC-117 to the comparison. These are candidates to sample, not guaranteed matches.
Why the marble and room matter more than a paint name
Carrara marble can read cool gray, warmer gray, or mixed depending on the particular stone and its setting. A 2026 Homes & Gardens kitchen example describes selected Carrara slabs as cool gray, paired with warmer gray-putty paint and brass. That illustrates one way to balance cool stone; it is not a white-paint comparison or a universal formula.

White paint also has undertones. Benjamin Moore groups warm whites around red, orange, and yellow, and cool whites around green, blue, and violet. Its Color & Design Expert Andrea Magno advises comparing whites side by side because doing so makes their undertones easier to see. View the marble with the cabinets, floor, hardware, and other fixed finishes in the room, rather than selecting a white from its name or a small screen image.

These US manufacturer-listed colors offer a practical starting shortlist. The descriptions are manufacturer guidance, not results from a controlled test on your marble.

Account for the room’s light and surrounding finishes
Light can shift how white looks. Sherwin-Williams says a north-facing room enhances cool-toned whites, while a south-facing room enhances whites with warm undertones. Its guidance suggests counterbalancing the room’s light with the paint undertone when the goal is a more balanced appearance, such as comparing a blue-undertone white in warm lighting or a yellow-undertone white in cool lighting. Treat this as a starting point, then judge samples in your room.

Compare each candidate not only with the marble, but also with cabinet color, flooring, wall color, wood tones, and metal finishes. Benjamin Moore advises viewing white paint strips against home furnishings. Arianna Barone, Color Marketing Manager at Benjamin Moore US, has also noted that lighting, decor, and other design elements influence how white paint casts. A white that appears balanced beside a sample of stone alone may feel different once it is considered with the rest of the room.

- Choose a small shortlist. Select a few colors with different undertones or levels of brightness rather than buying several near-identical whites.
- Use a real paint sample. Benjamin Moore recommends brush-on or reusable peel-and-stick paint samples. Do not rely on a digital or printed color representation: Benjamin Moore cautions that it may vary from the actual paint.
- Place samples beside the actual finishes. View them alongside the Carrara marble and nearby cabinets, flooring, and hardware. Keep the comparisons in the room where the paint will be used.
- Observe them over several days. Check morning and evening, in natural and artificial light. Benjamin Moore specifically recommends viewing options from morning to evening and living with them for a few days.
- Choose the white that works as a whole. Compare its undertone, apparent brightness, response to the room’s lighting, and coordination with the other finishes. Do not select solely because a color name sounds like a match for Carrara.
Choose a finish suited to the painted surface
For general interior-wall use, Benjamin Moore recommends matte or eggshell walls, flat ceilings, and semi-gloss trim and doors. It notes that matte pairs with rich surfaces such as marble countertops, while eggshell offers a soft gloss and an easy-to-clean surface. These are manufacturer recommendations, not universal requirements; check the directions for the paint line you choose and account for how much cleaning the room needs.

A practical way to make the final choice
After sampling, narrow the decision to the white that looks balanced with your particular marble and finishes in the room’s real light. If cool options appear too stark, judge a warmer white as a deliberate contrast rather than assuming that every surface must share the stone’s undertone. The best match is the one that works in the complete space, not the one that looks most convincing on a color card.
