There is no washing machine inlet hose that can guarantee a leak-free laundry day. The right choice depends on matching the hose length, fittings and end shape to your washer and water taps, then installing it with sound seals and checking every joint for leaks. The products below are documented examples, not independently tested rankings.
How to choose a washer fill hose
Verify connections and compatibility
Start with the washer’s installation manual and inspect the actual supply taps. GE describes 3/4-inch connections as standard for its fill hoses, but fitting standards and hookups can vary by product and market. Confirm the thread size and connection type at both ends before ordering; a listing that says “universal” does not settle compatibility for compact, portable, specialty or non-U.S. installations. Measure length and check the route
Measure the path from each tap to the washer connection, allowing enough slack for the machine to sit without pulling the hose taut. Avoid a route that pinches, stretches or kinks the hose. Available examples include pairs and individual hoses in lengths from four to ten feet; some product families also offer elbow ends that can help where clearance behind the washer is limited. Check the exact model configuration rather than relying on a family-level listing.
Compare construction and included seals
Stainless-steel-braided hoses and standard rubber hoses are both documented options. Compare the actual product’s core, braid, coating, fittings and supplied washers. A braided exterior or a manufacturer’s pressure rating is not a guarantee against leaks at a damaged hose, seal or connection.

For example, GE’s listing for model PM14X10005 claims certified 1600 psi burst strength for that product. SUPCO specifies a 600 psi working-pressure rating for its 3805FFSS2 pair. These are different manufacturer specifications, not comparable independent test results or ratings for all hoses. Eastman lists CSA and CUPC approvals for products on its catalog page; verify the approvals and configuration for the specific item you are considering.

Check for model-specific restrictions
Do not assume that a hose marketed as “flood-safe” is suitable for every washer. LG warns that some such hoses can interrupt water supply and trigger an IE code; Electrolux advises standard hoses for the washer families covered by its water-supply guide. Follow the instructions for your specific washer model before selecting a flood-control hose.
Supply-pressure requirements also vary by model family. LG’s cited U.S. guidance gives a 14.5–116 psi range for the models it covers and calls for a pressure-reducing valve above that range. Electrolux’s separate European guide gives 30–120 psi for its applicable washers. These are not universal washer requirements; consult your model’s manual and local installation requirements.

Install and check the hoses
- Turn off the water supply. Use new hoses when installing a washer; LG explicitly advises against reusing old hoses. Read the washer and hose instructions before disconnecting or fitting anything. LG installation guidance
- Seat the washers. Check that the rubber washer is correctly seated inside each threaded hose fitting. GE’s PM14X10005 listing specifies four included hose washer inserts; SUPCO says washers are included with its product.
- Connect the correct lines. For a washer that uses both supplies, connect hot to the marked hot port and corresponding tap, and cold to cold. Follow the washer’s markings and instructions.
- Tighten as directed. Do not assume one tightening method applies to every hose and machine. Electrolux specifies hand-tightening followed by an additional two-thirds turn for the washers covered by its guide; follow your own model’s instructions if they differ. Electrolux water-supply guide
- Route without strain. Position the washer so the hoses are not pulled, pinched or kinked. There should be enough slack for the installed position without excess that gets trapped behind the machine.
- Open the shutoffs and inspect. Turn the water supply back on and check each connection for leaks before running laundry. If a joint leaks, shut off the supply and follow the hose and washer instructions to correct the connection; do not ignore a continuing leak.
When to replace inlet hoses
Replace hoses when installing a new washer rather than reusing the old pair. GE and Fisher & Paykel recommend replacement every five years; follow the schedule in your washer manual if it differs. Fisher & Paykel also identifies cuts, bulges, kinks, wear and leaks as reasons to replace a hose sooner. GE guidance · Fisher & Paykel hose guidance
