Installation rules are model- and code-specific
Use the current installation manual for the selected appliance and follow local plumbing and building requirements. Ice-O-Matic’s ICE Series installation manual says, “All drain lines must be installed per local codes.” It also directs that the bin drain, purge drain, and water condenser drain be routed individually to a floor drain, and states that condensate pumps are not recommended for the equipment covered by that manual. Those are instructions for the manual’s applicable equipment—not universal rules for every brand or model.
The ICE Series manual is dated November 2016. It also calls for a water filter system, gives minimum six-inch rear, top, and side clearance for self-contained air-cooled machines unless a specification says otherwise, and says to level the machine within 1/8 inch in all directions. Treat these as manual-specific provisions and check the current instructions for the unit being installed.
