- Flush and preclean: Flush the toilet and remove visible soil before disinfecting, as directed by Clorox.
- Attach the pad: Secure a disposable scrubbing pad to the wand handle.
- Wet the pad: Dip it in the bowl water for one to two seconds.
- Scrub the bowl: Clean the bowl above the water line. Keep the surface visibly wet.
- Discard the pad: Release the used head over a trash bin.
- Wait, then flush: Let the treated surface stand for five minutes for the manufacturer’s stated sanitizing direction or ten minutes for its disinfecting direction, then flush.
These directions describe cleaning the bowl. They do not establish that the wand or pad is intended for the toilet seat or exterior.
Are toilet wand refills flushable?
No—not the Clorox heads described here. Clorox says its scrub heads are not flushable and should be thrown in the trash. Follow the disposal directions for the specific product you buy; “disposable” does not mean “flushable.”

Can you use other toilet cleaner with a preloaded wand head?
Clorox says its heads already contain cleaner and should not be used with other toilet-cleaning products. Do not add another cleaner to the process based on an assumption that it will improve results. The manufacturer’s directions apply to its own system.

On its official U.S. ToiletWand pages, accessed in 2026, The Clorox Company claims the product “Kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria on hard, nonporous surfaces when used as directed.” The scope and condition matter: this is the manufacturer’s claim for hard, nonporous surfaces when used as directed, not an independent cross-brand test or evidence that it outperforms another wand.

Clorox also says its pads power through hard-water stains two times faster than a toilet brush used with Clorox manual toilet bowl cleaner. That is a company-stated comparison against the specified brush-and-cleaner combination, not an independent study establishing a general performance advantage.
Clorox’s U.S. FAQ says the system is designed for any toilet type, including low-flow models, and is safe for colored porcelain. Those are manufacturer statements, not independent material-compatibility findings.
