The best Summit refrigerator depends on the opening you have, whether it will be built in, and whether you need a freezer. Summit’s range includes compact, undercounter, ADA-height, shallow-depth, drawer, apartment and full-sized refrigerators, so choose by installation and storage needs rather than assuming one model is best for everyone. The examples below are manufacturer specifications, not an independent ranking of cooling performance or reliability.
Start with the installation space
Measure the cabinet opening and the route into the room before choosing a model. Compare the exact appliance dimensions with the product drawing and installation instructions, including height, width, depth, ventilation needs and door-open clearance. Check handle projection and door swing where specified, and confirm that the model is designed for built-in installation if it will sit inside cabinetry. Summit describes its refrigeration range as including products sized for smaller kitchens, alongside apartment and full-sized units; the exact fit remains model-specific. Summit’s refrigeration overview outlines the range.
Built-in undercounter fit
The FF64BIF illustrates why nominal width is not enough. Summit lists it as 24 inches wide, with an actual width of 23.63 inches, a depth of 23.5 inches, and a door-open depth of 45.63 inches at 90 degrees. It has 4.6 cu. ft. of capacity and frost-free operation. The model page showed an out-of-stock status and a future ETA when captured, so check the current listing and availability before planning around it. See Summit’s FF64BIF specifications.
Lower counters and restricted depth
When counter height is the constraint, Summit identifies the AL54B as ADA compliant. It is listed at 32 inches high, 23.63 inches wide and 22.63 inches deep, with 4.8 cu. ft. of capacity. That designation is a useful starting point, not a guarantee that the appliance suits every accessibility arrangement; confirm the installation requirements and the finished counter opening for the specific project. Check the AL54B product details.

For a narrow or shallow installation, the SDHR1534PNR is listed as 15 inches wide and under 18 inches deep. Summit describes it as front-breathing for built-in use; its finished black cabinet also permits freestanding use. Summit reports sound under 34 dB for this model. Treat that as a manufacturer specification, and verify the current product page and installation requirements. See Summit’s SDHR1534PNR details.
Decide whether you need a freezer
Summit sells both all-refrigerators and refrigerator-freezers. An all-refrigerator should not be assumed to include a freezer compartment: if you need frozen-food storage, compare combination models and confirm the layout of the exact unit. Summit’s refrigerator category separates product types.

- TWIN COOLING PLUS: Independent fridge and freezer controls keep food fresher, longer.
- ENERGY STAR CERTIFIED: Eco-friendly and energy-efficient.
- FINGERPRINT-RESISTANT FINISH: Finish that withstands everyday smudges so you spend less time cleaning.
Compact combination unit
The CM406WBI is an 18.5-inch-wide compact refrigerator-freezer with front-breathing construction, a reversible door, adjustable shelves, a crisper and a compact freezer compartment. Compare its usable layout with the foods you actually plan to store; the existence of a freezer section alone does not establish its capacity for a particular household. View Summit’s CM406WBI specifications.
24-inch combination unit
The BI605B is listed at 24 inches wide and 6 cu. ft. It uses front-vented cooling and is described for built-in or freestanding use. Its documented tradeoff is manual defrost, so factor in periodic defrosting when comparing it with frost-free choices. See Summit’s BI605B details.

These specifications help narrow the fit, but they do not establish that one model cools better or lasts longer than another. Summit notes that specifications may change without notice, so verify the current product page and installation documentation before ordering. Model availability can also change.
Use this checklist before specifying or buying
- Measure the cabinet opening, including width, height and depth, and confirm the delivery path into the room.
- Check the exact model drawing and installation guide for ventilation, built-in or freestanding suitability, door swing and required clearance. Front-breathing construction appears on several undercounter models, but confirm it for the model selected.
- Decide whether the plan needs an all-refrigerator or a refrigerator-freezer, then check capacity and interior layout against the intended use.
- For a low counter, verify appliance height and the full installation context; an ADA label alone does not establish suitability for every accessible kitchen.
- Confirm current specifications, stock, finish and configuration with Summit or the seller before finalizing cabinetry or placing an order.
For a construction or renovation project, lock the appliance model before finalizing the opening. A small dimensional difference, ventilation requirement or door-clearance conflict can affect cabinetry and adjacent circulation.
