Best Small Ovens for a Compact Kitchen: Dimensions, Capacity, and Safe Placement

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best overall for the smallest footprint: Panasonic FlashXpress NB-G110P. It is compact, quick, and well suited to toast, reheating, snacks, and personal-size pizza. For more cooking functions, choose the Our Place Wonder Oven; for upright storage, choose the Ninja Flip SP151; and for 9-by-13-inch cookware, choose the much larger Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro BOV900.

For the smallest practical countertop oven, choose the Panasonic FlashXpress NB-G110P. It is unusually compact and quick for toast, reheating, snacks, and personal-size pizza, but it is not large enough for a 12-inch pizza, a tall casserole, or substantial air-frying. If you need broader cooking functions, consider the Our Place Wonder Oven. If you need a 12-inch pizza but want the oven to store upright, consider the Ninja Flip SP151. For family-size baking and 9-by-13-inch cookware, the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro BOV900 is the capable choice—but it is a large countertop appliance, not a mini oven.

The right small oven depends less on its marketing category than on three measurements: the space available while it is operating, the clearance required for ventilation, and the cookware you actually use. A four-slice toaster oven, a compact air-fryer oven, a flip-up model, and a one-cubic-foot countertop convection oven all qualify as “small” in different contexts.

Best small toaster oven: Panasonic FlashXpress NB-G110P

The Panasonic FlashXpress NB-G110P is the clearest choice when counter space is the overriding problem. It is approximately 13 inches wide, 12 inches deep, and 10.2 inches high, weighs about 7.5 pounds, and uses 1,300 watts. Its interior is approximately 10.2 by 9.8 by 4.1 inches, with a 9-inch square cooking tray.

#1 Best Overall
Elite Gourmet ETO236 Compact 2-Slice Toaster Oven, 15-Min Timer, Black | Bake, Broil, Toast & Adjustable Temperature, Countertop Design - fits small kitchens, dorms and RVs
  • COMPACT & SPACE SAVING: Versatile compact design fits nicely in small spaces when counter space is limited.
  • ADJUSTABLE TIMER: The 15 min timer is perfect for toasting and warming up food for a quick and easy snack or breakfast.
  • ADJUSTABLE TEMPERATURE CONTROLS: Adjust your oven controls between 200F-450F degrees for toasting, warming or baking.
  • 650 WATTS OF POWER: Built-in temperature thermostat maintains even cooking heat to keep food warm, bake or toast.
  • ACCESSORIES INCLUDED - Includes a non-stick back pan and wire rack that easily slides in and out of the rack position to suit a variety of foods.

Panasonic lists six preset menus, a digital timer, a 250°F–500°F temperature range, and infrared heating elements designed to heat rapidly without conventional preheating. That combination makes it convenient for toast, reheating leftovers, snacks, and personal pizza. Its shallow chamber is also less intimidating to use in a very small kitchen than a full-size countertop convection oven.

The limitation is capacity. This is a compact four-slice toaster oven, not a miniature second range. A 12-inch pizza will not fit, and the limited height makes it unsuitable for tall casseroles, large roasts, and serious air-frying batches. Independent testing has likewise found that its very small footprint comes with less versatility than larger toaster ovens.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose it if you mainly need a quick personal oven and want the smallest usable appliance. Do not choose it because it has a high temperature or because it is described as versatile: the tray and interior dimensions matter more than the preset count.

Best compact multifunction oven: Our Place Wonder Oven

The standard Our Place Wonder Oven is a compact, vertically oriented oven for one or two people. It measures approximately 11.5 inches wide, 10.6 inches deep, and 11.6 inches high, has a listed 12-liter capacity, and operates from 200°F to 450°F. Its six functions are air fry, bake, roast, toast, broil, and reheat.

The box includes a wire rack, bake pan, air-fry basket, and crumb tray. A steam-infusion feature adds flexibility for small meals, vegetables, reheating, and modest baking. The brand lists a one-year limited warranty and a 100-day trial, though those terms should be checked for the specific purchase date and region.

The Wonder Oven is a good fit for a compact kitchen that needs more than toast and reheating. It can handle small portions, wings, vegetables, and everyday snacks while taking up less space than a large countertop oven. It is also a reasonable small air-fryer toaster oven option when the reader values several cooking modes in one appliance.

BLACK+DECKER TO1313SBD Toaster Oven, 15.47 Inch, Silver | Compact convection oven fits a 9-inch pizza with timer, stay-on function and removable crumb tray.
  • ACCOMMODATES 9-INCH PIZZA OR 4 SLICES OF BREAD – Designed to maximize utility within a compact footprint, the curved interior fits a 9-inch pizza or 4 slices of bread. Place items evenly for best results when toasting, baking, or reheating.
  • FOUR VERSATILE COOKING FUNCTIONS – Select from baking, broiling, toasting, or keeping food warm. Natural convection airflow circulates heat throughout the oven—preheat for 10 minutes to ensure consistent cooking and crisp results.
  • PRECISION 30-MINUTE TIMER WITH STAY-ON OPTION – The 30-minute timer includes clearly marked toast settings and a stay-on function. Oven will not operate unless timer is set or stay-on is selected, ensuring controlled and safe operation.
  • CONVENIENT REMOVABLE CRUMB TRAY – The slide-out crumb tray allows for quick, hygienic cleanup. To prevent spills and overheating, keep food and bakeware at least 1½ inches from the top heating elements and fully contained within the tray.
  • COMPACT AND CONTEMPORARY DESIGN – Measuring 14.5" x 10.8" x 8.8", this sleek stainless steel toaster oven complements any kitchen. Outer surfaces become hot during use—always use oven mitts and allow space for proper ventilation.

There are important qualifications. Independent testing measured usable capacity below the advertised volume and found the standard model to be roughly a 9-inch-pizza appliance. A third-party long-term review also reported durability concerns. Present it as a stylish, space-efficient multifunction oven—not as a guaranteed full-time replacement for a range or a universally best daily-use oven.

Best oven that stores upright: Ninja Flip SP151

The Ninja Flip SP151 solves a different space problem. It is not especially small while cooking, but it flips up against the backsplash when it is not in use. Ninja says the stored design uses 50% less counter space.

Its approximate operating footprint is 17.01 inches long by 15.75 inches wide by 7.68 inches high. It uses 1,800 watts, has eight functions, supports up to 4 pounds of ingredients, and accommodates a 12-inch pizza. The larger cooking area makes it considerably more useful than the Panasonic for pizza, air frying, and meals intended for more than one person.

Measure carefully before choosing it. “Space-saving” refers primarily to storage, not to the footprint during operation. You need a stable area large enough to use the oven safely, with unobstructed ventilation and room to flip it upright only where the manufacturer permits.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Ninja’s owner guidance emphasizes a stable, level countertop, unobstructed vents, correct crumb-tray installation, and approved accessories. Do not improvise with accessories that interfere with the door, rack positions, heating elements, or airflow. Existing owners may also find a Ninja Flip replacement wire rack useful if the original rack is damaged; verify compatibility with SP151 or SP151C before ordering.

Best larger countertop oven: Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro BOV900

The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro BOV900 is the largest model in this guide and the best choice when “compact kitchen” means “no room for a second built-in oven,” not “only a few inches of counter space.” It measures approximately 21.4 inches wide, 17.3 inches deep, and 12.7 inches high and has a one-cubic-foot capacity.

Breville lists 13 functions: toast, bagel, broil, bake, roast, warm, pizza, proof, air fry, reheat, cookies, slow cook, and dehydrate. It can accommodate up to nine slices of toast, most 9-by-13-inch pans, a 12-cup muffin tray, and a 12-inch pizza. The larger chamber also makes it more suitable for family meals, baking, entertaining, and larger roasts.

  • 5-IN–1 MULTIFUNCTIONAL COOKING- Enjoy versatile cooking with Air Fry, Bake, Broil, Toast, and Keep Warm settings. Perfect for preparing a wide variety of meals from crispy fries to perfectly baked pizzas and golden toast.
  • HEALTHY AIR FRYING TECHNOLOGY – Cook crispy, delicious meals with little to no oil using advanced air frying technology. Enjoy healthier alternatives to your favorite fried foods without compromising taste or texture.
  • EVENTOAST TECHNOLOGY FOR PERFECT TOAST – Achieve evenly toasted bread, bagels, and more with BLACK+DECKER’s EvenToast technology, ensuring consistent results every time with no hot spots.
  • COMPACT YET SPACIOUS INTERIOR – Fits up to a 9-inch pizza or 4 slices of bread, making it ideal for quick family meals, snacks, or small batch cooking while saving valuable counter space.
  • USER-FRIENDLY CONTROLS & 7 ACCESSORIES – 30-minute timer with removable crumb/drip tray, bake pan, air fry mesh tray, and wire rack for easy cleanup. Use drip tray when cooking and keep food clear of heating element. See User Manual for proper use.

This is the large countertop convection oven option, not the smallest oven. The body dimensions are only part of the installation calculation: Breville’s manual specifies at least 4 inches of clearance on both sides and 6 inches above during operation. That makes the required open area substantially larger than the appliance itself. Breville also recommends a dedicated circuit for this high-power appliance.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose the BOV900 only after confirming that the counter can support its weight and footprint, the door can open freely, ventilation clearances can be maintained, and the circuit can handle the load. If those conditions are not available, a smaller oven is safer and more practical even if it means cooking in smaller batches.

Where the Cuisinart TOA-28 fits

The Cuisinart TOA-28 has an attractive compact specification: six functions, a 450°F maximum temperature, capacity for up to 2.5 pounds of air-fried food, four slices of toast, and a 3-pound chicken. Its listed dimensions are 12.5 inches long by 15.5 inches wide by 11.5 inches high.

However, Cuisinart currently labels the TOA-28 discontinued and out of stock. It should not be treated as a current default recommendation. It is useful mainly as a reference for readers searching for a replacement, used unit, or compatible accessories. If buying a discontinued appliance, check the condition, return policy, replacement-part availability, electrical rating, and whether the manual is available.

How to choose the right size

1. Measure the operating space, not just the storage space

Measure width, depth, and height where the oven will actually operate. Include the space required for the door to open and for loading a hot rack or pan. A flip-up oven may occupy less space after cooking but still require a large operating footprint.

2. Add manufacturer-required ventilation clearance

Body dimensions are not installation dimensions. Clearance varies by model. For example, the Breville BOV900 manual calls for at least 4 inches on both sides and 6 inches above. Do not apply those numbers universally to every oven; use the manual for the selected model.

Elite Gourmet ETO490 9L/4-Slice Oven, 30-Min Timer, Adj. Temp, Black | Includes Baking Pan & Wire Rack - Bake, Broil & Toast functions for dorms and RVs - Countertop Design
  • COMPACT & VERSATILE: Compact design fits nicely in smaller spaces & also provides the power needed to cook many types of foods.
  • ADJUSTABLE TIMER: The 30-min timer is perfect for all your baking, roasting and toasting needs as well as warming up a quick and easy snack.
  • ADJUSTABLE TEMPERATURE CONTROL: Adjust your oven controls between 200F-450F degrees for toasting, baking, roasting & warming.
  • 800 WATTS OF POWER: Built-in thermostat maintains consistent heating for even cooking and perfect results when baking, roasting, toasting or keeping foods warm.
  • ACCESSORIES INCLUDED - Includes an easy to clean baking pan, wire rack and removable crumb tray that easily slide in and out of the two-rack positions to accommodate a variety of foods and make cleanup simple.

3. Measure cookware before buying

Ask what needs to fit inside:

  • For toast and reheating, a shallow four-slice oven may be sufficient.
  • For pizza, measure the actual diameter. The Panasonic is designed around personal-size pizza; the standard Wonder Oven is approximately a 9-inch-pizza class appliance by independent measurement; the Ninja Flip and Breville BOV900 support 12-inch pizzas.
  • For casseroles and baking, measure the pan’s outside dimensions, including handles—not just the nominal label.
  • For family meals, check interior height, rack positions, and tray clearance as well as width.

4. Decide whether air frying is genuinely important

Air frying requires a fan, a perforated basket, and enough open chamber space for airflow. A small oven may technically include an air-fry function but still produce smaller batches and less even results than a larger air-fryer oven or dedicated air fryer. If air frying is occasional, the Panasonic may be adequate for other tasks; if it is central to your cooking, look first at the Wonder Oven, Ninja Flip, or Breville.

5. Check the electrical demand

The Panasonic uses 1,300 watts; the Ninja Flip uses 1,800 watts; and the Breville BOV900 is a high-power multifunction appliance for which Breville recommends a dedicated circuit. Do not assume that a compact body means a low electrical load. In an older kitchen, or when the intended outlet already serves a microwave, refrigerator, kettle, or other high-load appliance, have the circuit evaluated rather than relying on a questionable extension-cord setup.

Feature trade-offs that matter

Priority What to look for Best fit in this guide
Fast toast and reheating Small chamber, simple presets, short warm-up, easy controls Panasonic FlashXpress
Small-batch air frying Fan, perforated basket, usable airflow space Wonder Oven or Ninja Flip
Personal pizza Tray and rack dimensions that match the pizza size Panasonic
12-inch pizza At least a 12-inch usable cooking area Ninja Flip or Breville BOV900
9-by-13-inch cookware Interior width, depth, rack clearance, and door clearance Breville BOV900
Counter recovery Vertical storage design and a safe place to store the unit Ninja Flip

Controls

Digital controls make temperature and timing easier to repeat. The Panasonic uses preset buttons and a digital timer; the Wonder Oven uses knob controls; and the Breville uses an LCD interface. Knobs can be quicker for simple tasks, while digital systems are helpful when you frequently repeat recipes.

Cleaning

A removable crumb tray and included pan reduce routine cleanup. Follow the specific manufacturer’s cleaning instructions. Do not cover a crumb tray or ventilation opening with foil: it can interfere with airflow and create a safety problem. Remove crumbs regularly, especially after greasy or high-temperature cooking.

Safe placement in a compact kitchen

  • Set the oven on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface away from the counter edge.
  • Keep curtains, paper, plastic, towels, and other combustible materials away from the appliance.
  • Do not operate it on or immediately beside an active stovetop burner.
  • Keep all vents clear and do not store objects on top while the oven is operating.
  • Install the crumb tray correctly and keep it free of foil unless the manual explicitly permits otherwise.
  • Use the manufacturer’s instructions for extension cords and electrical connections; do not use an arrangement that is undersized, damaged, or unsuitable for the appliance’s wattage.
  • Allow the oven and cookware to cool before moving, cleaning, or storing the unit.

For a kitchen renovation or new countertop installation, plan the outlet and landing space before selecting the oven. A dedicated, accessible receptacle in an appropriate location is preferable to routing a high-wattage appliance through a crowded power strip. The appliance manual—not a generic clearance rule—controls the final placement.

Which small oven should you buy?

  • Choose the Panasonic FlashXpress NB-G110P if every inch matters and your main jobs are toast, reheating, snacks, and personal pizza.
  • Choose the Our Place Wonder Oven if you want a compact, multifunction oven for one or two people and accept its modest usable capacity and reported durability concerns.
  • Choose the Ninja Flip SP151 if you need a 12-inch pizza or larger batches but want to reclaim counter space by storing the oven upright.
  • Choose the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro BOV900 if you need 9-by-13-inch cookware, family-size baking, or the broadest feature set and can provide its substantial footprint, clearance, and electrical requirements.
  • Do not make the Cuisinart TOA-28 the default current recommendation because the manufacturer lists it as discontinued and out of stock.

The most important buying test is simple: measure the counter and the cookware first. A genuinely small oven that cannot fit the food you cook is less useful than a larger model that fits safely—and a powerful oven placed without the required ventilation or electrical capacity is not a space-saving solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best small oven for a very small kitchen?

The Panasonic FlashXpress NB-G110P is the smallest practical choice in this guide. It measures about 13 by 12 by 10.2 inches and is designed for toast, reheating, snacks, and personal-size pizza. Its compact interior is not suitable for 12-inch pizza or large casseroles.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which small countertop oven fits a 12-inch pizza?

The Ninja Flip SP151 supports a 12-inch pizza and flips upright for storage. The Breville BOV900 also supports a 12-inch pizza but is much larger and requires substantial ventilation clearance. The Panasonic and standard Our Place Wonder Oven are better suited to personal-size or approximately 9-inch pizza, respectively.

Which countertop oven takes up the least space when stored?

The Ninja Flip is the best option here for recovering counter space because it is designed to flip upright after use. Its operating footprint is still about 17.01 by 15.75 inches, so it is not the smallest oven while cooking.

Is the Cuisinart TOA-28 still a current recommendation?

No. Cuisinart currently labels the TOA-28 discontinued and out of stock. It may be relevant when searching for a used unit or replacement, but it should not be treated as a current default purchase without independently verifying availability and support.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: The Panasonic FlashXpress is the best genuinely small oven for basic daily cooking. The Wonder Oven adds multifunction capability for one or two people, the Ninja Flip saves counter space after use, and the Breville BOV900 is the right choice only when larger cookware and family-size capacity justify its much larger installation footprint.
