There is no independent head-to-head test here to establish a single “best” skid steer snow blower. The useful answer is a compatibility-first comparison: match hydraulic flow and pressure, loader capacity and coupler, and working width to your exact machine and snow-clearing work before weighing features such as chute control or claimed throw distance.

What to look for in a skid steer snow blower

When deciding “if a Skid Steer Snow Blower is strong enough to withstand the elements,” start with the loader and attachment specifications—not brand name or width alone. The 2019 retailer guide used a CAT 259D and an FFC by Paladin as an example: it described 15–20 GPM as suitable for that machine’s stated 20 GPM standard-flow maximum. That example is not a universal recommendation; the right flow depends on the exact attachment motor and host-machine configuration. See the 2019 Skid Steer Solutions buyer’s guide.

Hydraulic flow and pressure

Compare the loader’s available flow and pressure with the requirements for the precise blower model and motor option. A blower that falls outside its specified operating range may not perform as intended, even if its width and mounting style appear suitable. Product lines can span very different flow requirements, so do not assume a match based on manufacturer or machine class.

For example, Cat lists the SR115 as standard-flow, with optimal flow of 20–23 GPM and optimal pressure of 2,800–3,300 psi. Those are Cat’s specifications for that attachment, not independent test results or a general target for all blowers. The Cat SR115 product page provides its published specifications.

Loader capacity and mounting

Check attachment weight against the loader’s rated capacity for the relevant configuration, and confirm that the coupler or quick-attach interface fits. A compatible-looking mount does not establish that a particular loader can safely carry the attachment in the conditions you intend to use it. Cat describes an adjustable coupler on the SR115; verify the actual coupler arrangement and fit for your machine with the manufacturer or dealer.

Width, intake height and work area

Compare cutting width and intake height with the paths, driveways, loading areas, or other surfaces you need to clear. A wider blower may cover more ground per pass, but it still has to match the loader’s capacity and hydraulic capability, and fit the working area. Published widths vary substantially among models and product families.

  • UNIVERSAL SKID STEER CONNECTION: Our superior design fits almost all skid steers, loaders, and tractors such as the New Holland, Bobcat Skid Steer, and Kubota tractors. This kind of connection is known as SSQA or Universal Skid Steer Style Quick Connect.
  • DIMENSIONS: This snow thrower attachment has a 70" cutting width and 45" depth, standing 60" high. It features a 17.5" auger diameter that is 0.3" thick. Weighing 1,135 LB, it delivers powerful performance.

Chute and deflector controls

Check how the chute rotates and how the deflector is adjusted, then confirm that the controls are supported by your host machine. Depending on the model, operation may rely on electrical controls, hydraulic functions, or a harness. A feature listed on the attachment is useful only if the machine’s controls and configuration can operate it.

Construction and serviceable parts

Compare auger and impeller design, cutting-edge construction, skid shoes, and the availability of replaceable or serviceable parts. Haugen lists bolt-on replaceable cutting edges and adjustable, replaceable skid shoes for its lineup. These are manufacturer-published design features; they do not by themselves establish a comparative durability advantage.

Published specifications: examples, not a tested ranking

The following products illustrate why compatibility must be checked model by model. Their specifications come from manufacturers or a procurement document, not a common independent test. Flow figures describe the listed model or configuration and should not be treated as interchangeable recommendations.

Attachment or source Published specifications Important qualification
Cat SR115 Standard flow; optimal flow 20–23 GPM; optimal pressure 2,800–3,300 psi; 61.9-inch overall width; 1,018.5-pound weight; 40-foot maximum throw; 270-degree chute rotation. Cat manufacturer specifications, not independent performance results. Confirm configuration and compatibility on the Cat product page.
Haugen lineup Models listed as 550, 600L, 600 and 700; cutting widths of 66, 74 and 84 inches; model flow requirements shown from 11 to 40 GPM. Lists bolt-on replaceable cutting edges and adjustable/replaceable skid shoes. Manufacturer lineup information; verify the flow requirement and dimensions for the exact model and configuration on the Haugen product page.
Erskine ES2010, ES2410 and ES2410XL Flow ranges of 11–25, 24–38 and 30–50+ GPM, respectively; pressure ranges also vary by model. Specifications are from a 2017 product sheet. Confirm that the sheet remains applicable before purchase: Erskine product sheet.
Deere SB78D 30–42 GPM range; 78-inch intake; 1,195-pound weight. The document gives compatibility examples for Deere SSL 320G–332G and CTL 325G–333G. These figures and compatibility examples are specific to a Michigan procurement specification from 2022, not a universal fit statement: Michigan DTMB specification.
Blue Diamond heavy-duty blower 62–96-inch widths; required flow of 14–40 GPM; one-year warranty stated. Manufacturer claims and terms can change. Verify the current configuration and warranty with the Blue Diamond product page or dealer.

How to compare models for your machine

  1. Identify the exact loader configuration. Record the machine model, hydraulic-flow option, available pressure, coupler type and rated capacity applicable to the intended setup.
  2. Find the attachment’s exact specification. Check the model and motor/configuration, not just the product family. Compare its flow and pressure requirements with the loader’s available hydraulics.
  3. Check weight and fit. Verify attachment weight against loader capacity and confirm the mounting interface with the manufacturer or authorized dealer.
  4. Match dimensions to the work. Compare intake width and height with the spaces to clear and the machine’s ability to handle the attachment.
  5. Confirm operation and service details. Ask how chute and deflector controls connect to the host machine, and check cutting-edge, skid-shoe and other service-part arrangements.
  6. Get configuration-specific confirmation before buying. Have the seller or manufacturer confirm compatibility, current specifications, availability and warranty for your exact machine and attachment pairing.

What “reviews” can—and cannot—establish

Manufacturer specification sheets are useful for screening compatibility and comparing dimensions, controls and listed features. They are not independent evidence that one blower clears snow faster, lasts longer, or throws snow farther in real working conditions. Cat’s 40-foot maximum throw, for example, is a manufacturer-listed maximum, not a comparative test result.

The 2019 guide offers buyer guidance and a machine example, not a multi-model test. The available product information does not establish a tested winner, reliability ranking, or current price comparison. Treat statements about performance, durability and throw distance as the maker’s claims unless supported by independent testing.
