Simmons Kids offers crib mattresses with different constructions and features, but the available specifications do not establish a tested “best” model for comfort. For an infant, first confirm that a mattress is compatible with the exact crib and fits snugly; then compare its construction, infant/toddler sides, cover and warranty. A common size description alone does not prove that a mattress fits a particular crib.
What differs among Simmons crib mattresses?
Simmons Kids’ mattress catalog includes foam, interlocking-coil and pocketed-coil models. Some are designed with a firm infant side and a distinct toddler side. Construction and cover details are manufacturer specifications, not evidence that one mattress feels or performs better than another.
The brand’s catalog says its crib and toddler mattresses are GREENGUARD Gold certified. Treat this as a manufacturer claim; it is not a comparison of comfort or a substitute for checking a mattress’s fit and safety. Simmons lists models in its Beautyrest collection and its full mattress catalog.

How to choose a Simmons mattress for a specific crib
- Identify the crib model. Use the crib’s label and instruction manual to establish which mattress dimensions and types it accepts.
- Check the exact mattress dimensions. Compare the Simmons model’s stated length, width and thickness with the crib maker’s requirements. A nominal 52-by-27.5-inch size is not a guarantee of compatibility with every crib.
- Verify the fit in the crib. The mattress should fit snugly without gaps between its edges and the crib walls. Follow the crib and mattress instructions; do not improvise with supplemental padding.
- For infant sleep, use the firm infant side when the model is dual-sided. Follow the mattress label for which side is intended for an infant. A softer toddler-side feature does not establish infant suitability.
- Compare convenience features only after fit and intended use. Waterproof backing, fabric, vents, coil type, weight and warranty differ by model. They do not demonstrate superior comfort or greater infant sleep safety.
What matters for infant sleep safety?
The American Academy of Pediatrics’ safe-sleep guidance recommends a firm, flat sleep surface with a tight-fitting sheet and no additional objects or soft bedding in the crib. Its crib guidance says the mattress should be very firm, should not sag under a baby’s weight and should fit snugly with no space between mattress and crib walls.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) describes federal crib mattress rules that cover matters including firmness, dimensions, thickness, compatibility and labeling. Its Crib Mattresses FAQs warns: “Consumers should be aware that continued use of aftermarket mattresses in non-compatible sleep products or in use as a topper or supplemental padding presents a significant hazard to your child.” The CPSC FAQ says 139 deaths reported in its crib mattress final rule were potentially related to compatibility factors such as firmness, fit, thickness and floor structure. The FAQ does not say those deaths involved Simmons mattresses or were caused by a particular model.

Do not add a topper, supplemental padding, pillow, bumper, toy or loose bedding to an infant’s sleep space. General safety guidance does not certify a particular Simmons product; the crib maker’s compatibility instructions and the mattress label still matter.

- For pocketed coils: Beautyrest Black Infant & Toddler, Renewed Spirits and Black Misty Nights list pocketed-coil construction. Their toddler-side materials differ; that is not a basis for choosing one for infant sleep.
- For interlocking coils: BeautySleep Superior Rest lists 242 interlocking coils and a firm newborn side with a convoluted toddler side.
- For warranty comparison: the listed limited terms differ—15 years for Foam Happy Nights, 50 years for Superior Rest and lifetime for the three other examples. Read the current warranty for its exclusions and conditions rather than treating duration as a measure of comfort or safety.
What to confirm before purchase
- The precise mattress model and current product label match the crib maker’s compatibility instructions.
- The mattress fits tightly, with no gaps, and is used on the side intended for an infant if it is dual-sided.
