For an LG dishwasher, the best choice is a liquid dishwasher rinse aid that your specific model’s manual permits. LG recommends rinse aid to help prevent water spots and improve drying; it does not publish a cross-brand ranking that establishes one product as best for every LG dishwasher. Fill the dedicated dispenser correctly, then adjust its setting according to your manual and the results you see.
What rinse aid should you use in an LG dishwasher?
Choose a liquid rinse aid made for dishwashers, available in your market, and compatible with the instructions for your exact LG model. LG’s cited owner-manual guidance says to use only liquid rinse aid in the dispenser. The product category matters more than a brand claim: the available LG guidance does not establish that a particular third-party brand performs better across models or water conditions.
LG India lists its own 500 mL rinse aid, model CLS30106303, and says it is compatible with all LG dishwasher models. However, that listing is tailored to Indian cooking residues and water conditions, and availability outside India is not established. Treat it as a regional example, not a universal recommendation: LG India’s CLS30106303 product listing.
Why LG recommends rinse aid
LG USA Support says: “The use of rinse aid is recommended to prevent water spots on dishes and to enhance drying performance.” Rinse aid is released automatically during the final rinse on the models covered by LG’s guidance. It is not a replacement for dishwasher detergent.
#1 Best Overall
- RINSE AID: Finish Jet Dry Rinse Aid is dishwasher rinse aid product.
- WHAT IS RINSE AID. Tired of unloading a dishwasher full of wet and spotty dishes. The best dishwashing results don’t happen with detergent alone. Rinse aid is an agent that enhances drying and reduces water spots on dishes.
- TACKLES TOUGH RESIDUE: Still seeing hard water marks and residue on your dishes. Finish Jet Dry is specially designed to help prevent residue and spots, giving you shelf-ready dishes
- SHINIER GLASSES and DISHES: Looking for the ultimate shine. Use Jet Dry to protect your glasses and get shinier dishes¹ for your next holiday dinner or party
- FORGET ABOUT WET DISHES: Tired of drying dishes after unloading dishwasher. Jet Dry fits your busy schedule by providing 3X Better Drying vs. detergent alone
How to add rinse aid
- Check your exact LG model’s owner’s manual for the rinse-aid dispenser location and instructions. The cited LG manual says to use the dedicated dispenser and liquid rinse aid.
- Open the dispenser lid and add liquid rinse aid to the maximum fill mark. Do not overfill; where your manual directs, allow the liquid to settle as you fill.
- Wipe up any spills, then close the lid securely. On the models covered by LG, the dispenser releases rinse aid automatically during the final rinse.
LG’s step-by-step guidance is available in its US support article on adding rinse aid and the LG owner-manual excerpt. Follow your own model’s manual if its dispenser or instructions differ.
How to adjust the rinse-aid setting
Many LG dishwashers let you adjust how much rinse aid the dispenser releases, but controls and default settings vary by model. LG USA Support describes an L0–L4 scale with L2 as the factory setting for the models covered by that guidance. An older manual excerpt describes a different arrangement, so do not assume that scale or button sequence applies to your dishwasher.

Use the adjustment procedure in your model’s manual. In the specific USA guidance, the setting is checked with Power and Dual Zone, changed with Delay Start from L0 through L4, and saved with Start. Those button steps are model-specific, not a universal LG procedure. See LG USA’s setting instructions.
What to change if you see spots, streaks, film, or foam
- Hard-water deposits or poor drying: LG advises raising the rinse-aid setting when calcium deposits from hard water or inadequate drying persist.
- Foaming or film: Too much rinse aid can contribute to these symptoms and poor washing or drying results. Reduce the setting if they appear.
- Spots or streaks: A setting that is too low can contribute to spotting and streaking. Use your model’s adjustment instructions and change the setting based on the results.
These symptoms can have more than one cause; the cited LG guidance supports adjusting the rinse-aid setting for the conditions above, not a guarantee that rinse aid alone will resolve every cleaning issue. LG’s model-specific UAE instructions are at LG UAE Support.

What not to put in the dispenser
Do not pour rinse aid directly onto dishes or substitute hand dish soap for dishwasher detergent. LG warns that hand dish soap can create suds and cause leakage. Its guidance on detergent and additives is available from LG USA Support.

When comparing options, check three things: the product is a liquid rinse aid intended for dishwashers, it is sold where you live, and your specific LG manual permits it. Then use the dispenser setting and troubleshooting guidance for your model. LG’s cited materials provide no comparative brand performance data, so claims that one product is universally best or best for a particular dish type are not established by this guidance.
