A manual mold-and-press such as the Norpro 1043 works with dough rolled by hand; KitchenAid and Kenwood offer attachments for specific stand mixers. These tools use different workflows, and available manufacturer information does not establish a tested overall winner.

These are maker-listed specifications, not the results of a head-to-head performance test. The available independent pasta-machine review evaluates sheet rollers, not dedicated ravioli formers.
Manual mold: Norpro 1043
Choose a mold-and-press workflow if you want to form ravioli without buying or owning a compatible stand mixer. Norpro says the 1043 makes twelve 1.5-inch ravioli and measures 12 × 4.25 × 1 inches. The company says you can roll the dough with a rolling pin, so a separate pasta roller is not required. It also lists dumplings and stuffed cookies as possible uses. Norpro’s product page provides those specifications.
Norpro instructs users to hand wash the maker and says not to put it in the dishwasher. Its listed output and care instructions are manufacturer claims; no independent performance test of this model is established here.

KitchenAid attachment: check the sheet workflow and mixer setting
The KitchenAid KRAV uses a hopper and scoop, with the user turning the attachment’s crank by hand. KitchenAid’s instructions are explicit: “The mixer is not turned on while making ravioli.” The attachment is not a powered ravioli-forming cycle.
Prepare sheets to the right dimensions
KitchenAid’s guide specifies a hand-prepared sheet about 1/16 inch thick and 5.5 inches wide. Its separate tips recommend using the KitchenAid Pasta Roller for best results and specify a width of 5-3/4 inches for sheets prepared with that roller. Those widths belong to different preparation workflows; use the instruction that matches how you made the sheet rather than treating the measurements as interchangeable. Manage dough, filling, and feed
KitchenAid recommends dough that is firm, leathery, and pliable. Dough that is too sticky may tear, while dough that is too dry may not seal. Lightly flouring the sheets helps them pass through the attachment. The guidance also recommends practicing with an unfilled sheet first, filling evenly, letting formed strips dry for at least 10 minutes, and then separating ravioli along the perforations.
Cooking and storage guidance
KitchenAid says its separated ravioli can be cooked immediately, with an approximate 3–4 minute boil in salted water, or refrigerated overnight. For longer storage, it recommends freezing the ravioli individually first. These are KitchenAid’s instructions for its product; cooking time can vary with dough, size, and filling.

Kenwood attachment: verify the exact machine fitting
The KAX93.A0ME is intended for compatible Kenwood Chef-family machines, not as a universal stand-mixer accessory. Kenwood’s Egypt regional product page describes a metal attachment with a manual dial and filling hopper, and says a lasagne roller attachment is needed to make the pasta sheets. It lists compatibility with Chef or Chef XL machines using the shown twist-fit outlet, names additional Chef, kMix, and Cooking Chef families, and specifies adapter KAT001ME for older slot-style fittings. Check the outlet and exact machine model against Kenwood’s compatibility information before buying. The regional page does not establish availability or pricing in other countries.

How to choose without a universal “best”
- Pick the Norpro-style mold if you want a standalone tool and are comfortable rolling sheets by hand or with your existing roller.
- Pick the KitchenAid KRAV if you already have a compatible KitchenAid mixer, want its hopper-and-crank process, and can prepare sheets to the specified dimensions.
- Consider the Kenwood KAX93.A0ME only after confirming your machine’s outlet type and whether you need the KAT001ME adapter and a lasagne roller.
- Factor in sheet-making equipment. A roller can help produce consistent pasta sheets, but sheet-roller reviews are not evidence that a particular ravioli former performs best.
For context, Epicurious’s August 30, 2024 pasta-maker review reports testing manual and electric pasta machines and selects the Marcato Atlasmotor as best overall and the Marcato Atlas 150 as its best manual machine. That review concerns pasta makers and sheet rollers; it does not compare dedicated ravioli molds or attachments.
