Use it to check the manufacturer’s parts catalog, then verify the part number and, for filters, the filter type, dimensions, and whether your hood is ducted or recirculating.
Start with your range hood’s model number
Find the rating label on the hood and record the complete model number, including any letters or suffixes. Enter it in the manufacturer’s parts catalog: Whirlpool Parts prompts shoppers to search by model, and Broan-NuTone describes its replacement filters as fitting select models.
- Record the full model number from the appliance label.
- Search the manufacturer’s parts catalog for that model.
- Open the model’s parts list or the specific part listing. Compare the part number and check any replacement or supersession information shown.
- For filters, compare type, shape, and dimensions, and confirm whether the hood is configured for ducted exhaust or non-vented/recirculating use.
- Check the model’s installation instructions before ordering to confirm the configuration and part details.
A shared description such as “range hood motor” or “aluminum filter” does not establish compatibility. Dimensions alone do not establish a fit, either; use the model-specific listing and documentation to confirm.
Choose the right filter
Manufacturer catalogs distinguish grease filters from charcoal filters. They serve different roles, so do not substitute one type for the other based on appearance or a broad product description.

Other range hood parts you may need
Parts catalogs show that a range hood can have serviceable components beyond the filter. The exact inventory depends on the product; a category appearing in one catalog does not mean every hood uses the same part or design.

Blower and motor components
Listings may cover a motor by itself or a complete blower assembly. For example, Broan’s AR130WW parts page lists a blower assembly that includes a motor, fan blade, and mounting bracket. Whirlpool catalogs also list blower and motor components. Check the exact part number, what the listing includes, and model compatibility rather than treating assemblies as interchangeable.
Switches, controls, and lights
Parts lists include examples such as a light switch for the Broan AR130WW and, in Whirlpool materials, light switches, LED parts, and hood controls. Use the model-specific parts list to identify the component; a similar-looking switch, light, or control is not sufficient confirmation of fit.

Dampers and ducting
Whirlpool materials include duct or venting and damper components. Their configuration and availability vary by product, so check the parts list and installation instructions for your hood rather than assuming a standard duct or damper will fit.
What to check before ordering
- Exact model: Match the complete model number, not just the brand or general hood style.
- Part number: Compare the catalog number and any replacement or supersession details shown by the manufacturer.
- Filter match: Confirm grease versus charcoal, shape, dimensions, and the hood’s installation mode.
- Assembly contents: For a blower or motor listing, check whether it is motor-only or a larger assembly and note any included hardware.
- Model documentation: Consult the installation instructions and parts list before purchase.
For example, if you are shopping for a range hood replacement filter, first establish whether your model calls for a grease filter or a charcoal filter. Then confirm the exact model listing and compare the filter’s shape and dimensions. If the hood is non-vented or recirculating, verify that the model documentation specifies a charcoal filter before choosing one.

What the parts listings do—and do not—tell you
Manufacturer parts materials establish that these categories exist, but they do not establish which components fail most often, provide universal repair instructions, or say whether repair is more economical than replacing a hood.
