One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchThe best Raid product depends on the insect and where it is active. For indoor ants, roaches and other listed crawling bugs, Raid Ant & Roach Killer 26 is the most directly matched spray. Raid MAX Perimeter Protection is designed as an indoor/outdoor barrier around entry points. Raid Flying Insect Killer 7 fits flies, mosquitoes, wasps and other listed flying insects. Raid MAX Concentrated Deep Reach Fogger is a separate whole-room treatment that requires substantially more preparation and strict label compliance.
These are different treatment modes, not interchangeable versions of one product. Match the exact pest, site and application directions on the current label.
Quick comparison of Raid pest-control formats
| Product | Best match | How it works | Location | Stated residual period | Preparation burden |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Raid Ant & Roach Killer 26 | Ants, roaches and other listed crawling bugs | Contact aerosol spray | Use only sites allowed by its current label | Not stated as a general duration | Targeted application; follow label precautions |
| Raid MAX Perimeter Protection | Ants, roaches and other listed indoor/outdoor pests | Residual perimeter barrier | Indoor and outdoor; manufacturer specifies non-porous surfaces for its duration claim | Up to 18 months for American cockroaches and Argentine ants on non-porous surfaces | Surface preparation and restricted application areas depend on label |
| Raid Flying Insect Killer 7 | Flies, mosquitoes, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, fruit flies and non-biting gnats | Contact aerosol | Indoor and outdoor | Not stated as a general duration | Targeted spraying with label ventilation and re-entry directions |
| Raid MAX Concentrated Deep Reach Fogger | Listed insects in cracks, crevices and enclosed rooms | Total-release fogger with residual action | Indoor rooms that meet label requirements | Up to two months, a manufacturer claim | Highest: evacuate, shut off ignition sources, protect food and utensils, then ventilate and re-enter as directed |
A manufacturer duration is not an independent guarantee of whole-home control. Results vary with pest species, infestation level, sanitation, building access points and whether the insects are reintroduced.
Best Raid spray for roaches and ants
Raid Ant & Roach Killer 26
Raid Ant & Roach Killer 26 is the clearest fit when ants or roaches are already active indoors and you need a targeted aerosol. SC Johnson Professional describes the can as a 17.5-ounce spray for ants, roaches and other listed bugs. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency registration record for RAID ANT & ROACH 26 (EPA Reg. No. 4822-596) lists cypermethrin at 0.1% and imiprothrin at 0.06%.
#1 Best Overall
- Kills: ants, black widow spiders, household spiders, roaches, scorpions
- Kills bugs on contact
- Can be used as both an outdoor and indoor spider killer
- Scorpion & Spider Killer Spray has no lingering chemical odor
- Retreat with insect killer every 7 weeks on porous surfaces and every 12 weeks on non-porous surfaces
Use it only against pests and on surfaces named on the current label. A spray can provide quick, localized treatment, but it does not remove the conditions that sustain an infestation. Clean food spills, keep food in sealed containers and caulk entry points; those non-chemical measures are included in the product’s EPA registration directions.
When a perimeter product is more appropriate
If insects are entering from outside or appearing repeatedly at thresholds, windows, foundations or other permitted entry points, a barrier treatment is a better match than repeatedly spraying visible insects. Keep the application site, rate and indoor/outdoor restrictions tied to the current label rather than assuming every perimeter surface is approved.
Best Raid perimeter spray for recurring entry-point bugs
Raid MAX Perimeter Protection
Raid MAX Perimeter Protection is labeled for indoor and outdoor use against ants, fleas, flies, gnats, roaches, ticks, silverfish, crickets, spiders, mosquitoes and other listed bugs. SC Johnson states that it “keeps American cockroaches and Argentine ants away for up to 18 months on non-porous surfaces.” That period applies to the named cockroaches and ants and the specified non-porous surfaces; it should not be read as an 18-month guarantee for every pest, material or home.
Rank #2
- Raid Ant & Roach kills a wide variety of listed insects that crawl around your home
- Kills on contact and has residual killing power for up to 13 weeks for roaches and carpenter ants
- Easy-to-use ant & roach killer that can be applied to infested surfaces directly
- No lingering chemical odor from this aerosol ant & roach spray
- Maintain control of indoor surfaces by retreating with roach & ant killer every 13 weeks as necessary
Choose this format when prevention around approved entry points is the main goal. It is not a substitute for treating an active nest, correcting moisture or food sources, or repairing structural openings. Read the label for where it may be applied, how much to use, and any restrictions around children, pets, food-contact areas and drainage.
Best Raid spray for mosquitoes, flies and wasps
Raid Flying Insect Killer 7
Raid Flying Insect Killer 7 is a 15-ounce aerosol for indoor and outdoor use against listed flying insects, including flies, mosquitoes, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, fruit flies and non-biting gnats. It is the most directly matched Raid aerosol in this group when the problem is airborne rather than a trail of crawling insects.
Flying-insect aerosols are generally used as targeted treatments. Remove people, pets, food and utensils from the spray area as required by the label, apply only to permitted locations, and observe the product’s ventilation and re-entry directions. For stinging insects, do not put yourself within unsafe range of an active nest; professional removal may be safer.

- Can be used as both an outdoor and indoor insect killer spray
- Fruit fly killer spray with Outdoor Fresh scent
- Flying insect spray that kills on contact
- Spray this Raid Flying Insect spray directly at insects for fast results, keeping 3 ft from walls, fabrics, furniture
When a Raid fogger makes sense—and when it does not
Raid MAX Concentrated Deep Reach Fogger
The Raid MAX Concentrated Deep Reach Fogger is intended for enclosed-space treatment. Its product page says the fog penetrates cracks and crevices and continues killing with residual action for up to two months. Listed targets include ants, carpet beetles, crickets, earwigs, fleas, gnats, houseflies, mosquitoes, roaches, silverfish, spiders, ticks, wasps and other pests.
That two-month period is a manufacturer claim, not an independent ranking or guarantee. Foggers also spread pesticide throughout a room, so they carry a much larger preparation and evacuation burden than a targeted spray. They are inappropriate when you cannot fully clear and secure the treatment area or comply with every label condition.

- Read the current fogger label before buying or using the product. The label controls the allowed room size, number of cans, application sites, protective measures, ventilation and re-entry time.
- Turn off ignition sources and keep the fogger at least six feet from ignition sources, following EPA guidance.
- Remove people and pets, cover exposed food, dishes and utensils, and leave immediately once dispensing begins.
- Do not use a fogger in a room smaller than 5 feet by 5 feet, as stated in Raid’s FAQ.
- Ventilate and re-enter only after the label’s waiting period and ventilation instructions are satisfied.
- If you live in an apartment or connected building, consult management first because fog can travel through shared airways.
The EPA says total-release foggers should not be the only method used to control bed bugs. For bed bugs, combine any labeled product with inspection, laundering, exclusion and other measures recommended by a qualified professional or public-health authority.

How to choose the right Raid format
- Identify the pest. Confirm whether it is a crawling insect, a flying insect, or a pest requiring a specialized product such as a bed-bug detector or flea treatment.
- Locate the activity. Decide whether insects are indoors, outdoors, entering at a perimeter, or spread through an enclosed room.
- Select the least extensive effective format. Use a targeted aerosol for visible, localized insects; a perimeter product for approved entry-point prevention; and a fogger only when room-wide treatment is justified and feasible.
- Check the exact label. Verify the pest list, application surface, indoor/outdoor status, dosage, protective equipment, food and utensil precautions, ventilation and re-entry time.
- Remove conditions that attract pests. Seal food, clean spills, reduce moisture, repair screens and caulk gaps. Chemical treatment alone commonly leaves the source of the problem intact.
- Escalate persistent or hazardous infestations. Repeated sightings, hidden nests, stinging-insect activity near occupied areas, or an infestation that returns after label-compliant treatment may require a licensed pest-control professional.
Are Raid products repellents or insecticides?
Raid products use different mechanisms. Ant & Roach Killer 26 and Flying Insect Killer 7 are aerosols for direct treatment of listed insects. MAX Perimeter Protection is intended to leave a residual barrier on approved surfaces. The Deep Reach Fogger releases a room-filling treatment with claimed residual action. Because each label names different pests and sites, “Raid” is not one universal repellent formula.
What the product claims do—and do not—establish
- The EPA registration record identifies the active ingredients in Raid Ant & Roach Killer 26 as 0.1% cypermethrin and 0.06% imiprothrin.
- The 18-month statement for MAX Perimeter Protection is limited to American cockroaches and Argentine ants on non-porous surfaces.
- The two-month statement for the Deep Reach Fogger is a manufacturer claim for residual action.
- There is no independent published statistic here that ranks Raid products against competing brands for whole-home effectiveness.
For safe and lawful use, the current package label and EPA directions take precedence over general product descriptions.
The Bottom Line
For most indoor ant or roach sightings, start with Raid Ant & Roach Killer 26 and correct food and entry-point conditions. Use Raid MAX Perimeter Protection for labeled barrier treatment, Raid Flying Insect Killer 7 for listed flying insects, and a fogger only when you can meet every evacuation, ignition-source, room-size and re-entry requirement.
