What to check before choosing a picnic blanket with a strap
- Open and packed size: Match the blanket’s unfolded dimensions to your group, then check its folded dimensions or carry format. “Portable” does not necessarily mean compact.
- How it carries: Integrated straps, an adjustable shoulder strap, a long strap, and a blanket that folds around itself offer different carrying experiences. Check how the strap attaches and whether its length suits you.

The British Blanket Company page uses both “waterproof” and “water resistant” for its backing, so its wording is less clear.
If you want cushioning or a larger sitting area
Compare the open dimensions and construction against the weight you are willing to carry. Black+Blum lists a 2 m × 1.42 m padded blanket at 1.4 kg. Slowtide describes a quilted fill and gives both open and folded dimensions, making its packed size explicit. A larger or more cushioned blanket may suit a group, but the available specifications do not establish which feels most comfortable in use.

Care, drying, and recycled-material claims
Care instructions vary by fabric and construction. Black+Blum advises a 30°C wash, low spin if possible, strap removal, and flat air-drying; it also notes that regular washing can affect the water-repellent coating.
