If “game panel heaters” means a heater for a game room, the right choice depends on whether you want portable warmth, a fixed wall-mounted unit, or direct radiant heat. “Panel heater” covers several designs, not one standard technology. The examples below are manufacturer-listed specifications, not an independently tested ranking; the sources do not establish a single best-performing model.
What is the best panel heater for a game room?
Choose by how the room is used and how you want heat delivered. A portable mica heater can be moved or stored; a wall-mounted convection panel stays in place; an infrared panel provides radiant heat. Consider the room’s insulation, size, electrical supply and how often you use it before comparing features. A manufacturer’s coverage claim is not a universal sizing guarantee.
| Type | How it heats | Best fit to consider | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Portable mica panel | Uses a mica heating element to warm the room. | A room where you want a movable unit, or the option of floor or wall mounting if the model supports it. | Requires floor space when used as a portable heater and must be placed and operated according to its instructions. |
| Wall-mounted convection panel | Warms air by natural convection. | A room where a fixed installation suits the layout and you want to keep the floor clear. | Placement and installation are less flexible than with a portable heater. |
| Infrared or radiant panel | Delivers radiant heat rather than relying only on warming room air. | A setup where radiant heat is the desired approach. | Manufacturer statements about radiant output, efficiency or performance are not the same as independent comparisons. |
The U.S. Department of Energy distinguishes portable heaters from wall electric heaters in its portable-heater guidance and discusses electric resistance room heating in its zone-heating guidance. Manufacturer examples also show why the label alone is not enough: De’Longhi describes the HMP1500 as a mica panel heater, while Herschel describes its Comfort range as infrared panels.

De’Longhi HMP1500: portable mica panel
De’Longhi’s U.S. product page lists the HMP1500 at 1,500 W maximum heating power, with a 750 W lower setting, two heat settings, an adjustable thermostat, thermal shutoff and a tip-over switch. The manufacturer says it can be used as a portable floor heater or mounted on a wall, and describes it as suitable only for well-insulated spaces or occasional use. The page specifies 120 V, so these details apply to that U.S. model; check the electrical supply and installation requirements in your market before choosing it. See De’Longhi’s HMP1500 specifications.
Herschel Comfort: infrared panel
Herschel describes its Comfort range as infrared heating panels and claims a 10-year warranty, UK production and repairability. The manufacturer also says the panels were tested to IEC 60675-3:2020, a standard it describes as measuring radiant performance, and says certification confirms at least 40% of rated power as measurable radiant output. These are Herschel’s statements; they are not an independent comparison of heating performance or running costs. See Herschel’s Comfort range information.

EnviMAX: wall-mounted electric panel
eheat describes itself as a U.S. manufacturer of wall-mounted electric panel heaters. Its company page lists the EnviMAX at 1,000 W and says it is intended for rooms up to 350 square feet. Treat that area as the manufacturer’s claim: a room’s insulation, climate and layout affect whether a heater can meet its needs. See eheat’s company information.
Should you choose a wall-mounted or portable panel heater?
Choose a portable model if you need flexibility between rooms or do not want a permanent installation. Choose a wall-mounted model if a fixed position suits the room and keeping the floor clear matters more than moving the heater. Some products, including the HMP1500, support both uses, but verify the mounting instructions and required clearances for the exact model.

- CONVECTOR HEATER SPECS: Ideal for a 100 sq. ft. room or bathroom, IP44 Splash proof, 250 watts, 120 volts, 2.08 amps. Panel Heater Dimensions: 24 x 18 x .40”. cETL approved. UL-2021 & RoHS compliant. Temperature ranges between 41-86 °F. This unit may be HARD WIRED! It should be 12 inches away from water for safety purposes. We offer a 3 Year Manufacturer Warranty!
- SAFE AND EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGY: This convector space heater’s exterior casing will feel warm and is safe for adults only. The electric wall heater operates at a constant temperature and emits some radiant heat, but mostly releases convection currents that rise from behind the heating panel and circulates heated air around the room.
- UPDATED CRACK RESISTANT VERSION: This upgraded durable model is TRIPLE REINFORCED and made with a superior calcium silicate material. TRIPLE INSULATED for electrical safety. EASY TO MOUNT on any wall (Installation hardware Included). Enjoy the beautiful sleek PAINTABLE DESIGN which blends in with any décor.
- NO FAN and QUIET: Asthma and dust allergy sufferers can enjoy warmth without irritation since the air will not dry out, nor will dust circulate around the room. Perfect for all indoor rooms, including bathroom, bedrooms, office, garage, and RV.
- Check whether the unit is designed for floor use, wall mounting or both.
- For a fixed installation, follow the manufacturer’s instructions and any applicable local electrical and building requirements.
- For portable use, position the heater as instructed and do not treat a tip-over switch or thermal shutoff as a substitute for safe placement and operation.
- Confirm the product’s voltage and electrical-market compatibility; do not assume a model sold in one country is suitable elsewhere.
What wattage panel heater do you need?
Wattage indicates the heater’s electrical input, not a guaranteed room-size match or a promise of lower bills. Start with the manufacturer’s guidance for the exact model, then account for the room and how it is used. Do not apply a coverage figure from one product to another building or climate. The available product examples use different ratings—1,500 W maximum for the U.S. De’Longhi HMP1500, 1,000 W for eheat’s EnviMAX—but those figures alone do not show which will heat a particular game room more effectively.
- Check the room’s insulation and whether it is used occasionally or for long periods.
- Compare maximum and lower heat settings, if provided, and whether the thermostat can regulate operation.
- Make sure the heater’s voltage and installation type suit the location.
- Use any manufacturer room-area claim as a starting point, not a guarantee.
Are panel heaters expensive to run?
There is no reliable single running-cost figure without knowing the heater’s power, operating time and local electricity rate. Estimate energy use as heater power in kilowatts × hours of operation; multiply the result by your electricity price per kilowatt-hour to estimate the electricity charge for that period. For example, use the heater’s actual wattage divided by 1,000 to get kilowatts, and your own expected hours and rate. This calculation estimates consumption cost; it does not account for changes in thermostat cycling or the heating system being replaced.

A panel heater’s wattage, thermostat or marketing description does not by itself prove that it will lower a household bill. The U.S. Department of Energy says: “In an average- or large-sized home with minimal or average insulation, electric resistance room heaters (baseboard or wall-mounted) are not typically a cost-effective method for heating the whole house over the long term.” The guide notes that such heaters may be cost-effective for infrequently used rooms in some circumstances. Its guidance is about U.S. homes; local electricity prices and heating systems vary. Read the Department of Energy’s zone-heating guidance.
Quick Recap
What should you check before buying?
- Heating design: identify whether the panel uses mica, natural convection or infrared/radiant heat.
- Controls: verify the thermostat, heat settings and any timer on the exact model rather than assuming they are standard.
- Safety features: check the manufacturer’s listed protections, such as tip-over or thermal shutoff, and follow the operating instructions.
- Mounting: confirm whether the model is portable, wall-mounted or supports both, and check installation requirements.
- Electrical compatibility: verify voltage and local requirements, particularly when comparing products from different markets.
- Claims: treat stated coverage, certification, warranty and efficiency as manufacturer claims unless independently verified.
- Use pattern: consider whether you need occasional room heating or expect the heater to serve as long-term whole-home heat.
