The SR-DF181 is a straightforward one-touch option; the SR-DA182 adds a timer and multiple menus; and the SR-ZE185 manual lists several specialty rice modes. These are documented examples, not a verified list of every model currently sold. Confirm the exact regional model number, electrical rating, mode capacities, and box contents before buying.
Compare the documented Panasonic 1.8 L models
Panasonic model names and specifications can vary by market and suffix. The details below come from the regional product pages or manuals identified in the table; they are not independent performance tests or a guarantee of current stock.
| Model and market | What Panasonic documents | Best fit if you want |

| SR-DA182KST, Australia and New Zealand | Panasonic lists multiple rice and non-rice menus, a timer, keep-warm, a Binchotan-coated non-stick pot, and a cup, scoop, and steam basket. The New Zealand specifications page lists 230–240 V, 770 W with lid heater, and timer and keep-warm functions up to 24 hours. | More documented menu and convenience features. Check the exact national listing: the Australian and New Zealand pages may not present identical specifications. |

Which model suits your cooking habits?
Choose SR-DF181WST for simple one-touch cooking
Panasonic describes the Australian SR-DF181WST as a one-touch cooker with four pre-programmed options. Its listed keep-warm period is up to five hours, so consider whether that suits your serving routine rather than assuming it offers all-day holding.

Consider SR-DA182KST for a timer and broader menu
The Australian and New Zealand SR-DA182KST listings document a timer and multiple rice and non-rice menus. The New Zealand specification page states a timer and keep-warm function up to 24 hours; treat that figure as specific to that listing, not as a universal specification for every regional variant.
Look at SR-ZE185 if specialty rice presets matter
The SR-ZE185 manual names several specialty rice modes, including jasmine, multi-grain, claypot, brown, and sticky rice. It also lists quick cook, porridge, and soup/slow-cook entries. The manual is evidence for those modes, but does not by itself establish the current availability, display, or accessory bundle of a particular local retail variant.
Check SR-DE183 mode limits before cooking larger quantities
The SR-DE183 manual specifies up to 1.8 L for white rice, but smaller ranges for brown rice, sticky rice, and porridge. If you regularly cook grains other than white rice, use the mode capacity table in the exact model’s manual when deciding whether its usable quantity fits your needs.
What “1.8 L” capacity means
For the SR-DE183, Panasonic gives a white-rice range of 0.36–1.8 L, or 2–10 cups. The SR-ZE185 manual also lists 2–10 cups for white rice and different capacity ranges for other modes. In these documented examples, 1.8 L is the upper white-rice capacity; it does not mean every menu can cook that quantity.

For measurement and water levels, Panasonic North America advises using the supplied cup and the inner-pan markings, then leaving the lid closed after cooking before fluffing. Follow the manual for the exact model you own, because procedures can differ: Panasonic North America: How to use a rice cooker.
Check voltage, frequency, and regional fit
Electrical ratings are not interchangeable assumptions. Panasonic’s cited SR-DE183 and SR-ZE185 manuals specify 240 V / 50 Hz, while the New Zealand SR-DA182KST specifications page lists 230–240 V. Before purchasing, compare the appliance’s own rating plate and plug with your local supply. Do not assume an imported cooker is compatible just because its capacity or model family matches.

Verify accessories and exact model suffix
Panasonic’s listed box contents differ by model and market. The SR-DF181WST archive page lists a cup, scoop, and steam basket; the SR-DA182 pages also list those accessories. Confirm what is included in the specific seller’s package, and match any replacement cup, basket, or inner pot to the full model number rather than relying on “Panasonic 1.8 L” alone.

The SR-ZE185 operating instructions give approximate cooking times of 40 minutes for white rice, 35 minutes for jasmine rice, and 120 minutes for brown rice. These are Panasonic estimates for that model, not independent test results. Panasonic cautions that cooking time may vary with supply voltage, room temperature, rice variety and quantity, and the amounts and temperature of water. Use the manual’s timings as planning guidance, not a guarantee for every kitchen or batch.
