The evidence supports one clearly identified microwave pressure cooker—the Tupperware Microwave Pressure Cooker—but not a tested, market-wide list of winners. Treat it as a product to evaluate, not a proven “best overall” pick: confirm the exact model’s microwave compatibility, capacity, safety directions, recipe guidance, and current availability before buying.

What counts as a microwave pressure cooker?

It is a vessel expressly designed by its manufacturer to cook under pressure inside a microwave. That is a different appliance from a stovetop pressure cooker or an electric countertop model such as an Instant Pot. Do not put a conventional pressure cooker in a microwave unless its manufacturer explicitly says that the exact model is intended for microwave use.

The available product evidence identifies the Tupperware Microwave Pressure Cooker. Tupperware says users seal the cooker by locking its handle, then microwave according to recipe instructions. The page describes five built-in safety features, including a pressure-release system, locking system, and regulation valve. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test findings.

What is the strongest pick supported by the available evidence?

Tupperware Microwave Pressure Cooker: a product to investigate, not a tested winner

This is the only directly identified product in the available evidence. That makes it a reasonable starting point for a shopping search, but it does not establish that it is currently available in every region, has the best value, or outperforms other microwave pressure cookers. No independent head-to-head testing or current comparable model-and-price set is established.

Before purchasing, check the product page and current documentation for the exact model sold where you live. Verify current capacity, intended use, care instructions, availability, warranty, and price rather than relying on old listings. The category-specific evidence is narrow; a general roundup of electric multicookers cannot substantiate a microwave-pressure-cooker ranking.

How to choose one safely and practically

  1. Confirm microwave compatibility. Look for an explicit statement that the exact cooker is designed for microwave use. A product’s pressure-cooking label alone is not enough.
  2. Read the current model-specific manual. Check how to lock and unlock the lid, release pressure, position the cooker, and handle it after cooking. Do not substitute instructions from a different brand, model, or region.
  3. Check the safety system and directions. Identify the stated pressure-release and locking features, then confirm how the manufacturer says to use them. A manufacturer’s safety description is not independent certification or comparative testing.
  4. Match capacity to your meals. Compare the stated usable capacity with the portions you expect to make. Verify the current specification; an old listing may not describe the product being sold.
  5. Look for recipe and timing support. Favor instructions for the exact cooker, including any required standing time after microwaving. Cooking time is not the whole process if pressure must fall before opening.
  6. Review care, availability, and ownership terms. Confirm cleaning directions, current regional availability, price, and warranty from the seller or manufacturer before deciding.

Why the manual matters for cooking time

Cooking and standing instructions are product-specific. Tupperware’s EMEA user manual, updated in 2015, says that for the product covered by that manual, cooking for more than 30 minutes may damage both the cooker and the microwave. It also says not to remove the cooker before the required standing time has elapsed, because pressure needs to fall naturally. These directions should not be applied to other models; use the current manual for your own cooker.

The cook’s essentials guide hosted by QVC gives a separate, recipe-specific example: for soup, it advises using less water when a recipe calls for excess liquid and adding water later if needed. Treat that as guidance for the recipes and product addressed there, not as a universal rule.

How long does it take to cook food in the Tupperware Microwave Pressure Cooker?

There is no single universal time. Timing depends on the recipe, the amount and type of food, and the microwave. Follow the instructions for the exact model and recipe, including any standing time before opening; do not infer a cooking time from another pressure cooker or from a broad claim about microwave cooking speed. Tupperware addresses this question on its product page.

What “best” can—and cannot—mean here

Without several current, comparable products and independent testing, a ranked “best overall” or “fastest” list would overstate what is known. A useful choice is the model whose documented microwave compatibility, capacity, safety directions, recipe support, care requirements, and local availability fit your household. The evidence here identifies Tupperware’s product and manufacturer guidance, but does not establish a market-wide winner or comparative performance.
