The best large-capacity toaster oven is the one that fits the food and pans you actually cook while leaving enough room on your counter for safe installation. Manufacturer examples make capacity easier to picture: one model is specified for a 9 x 13-inch pan with handles, while other product descriptions cite a 12-inch pizza or an 8-pound chicken. Those are different fit claims, not proof that one oven cooks better.
What “large capacity” means in practice
Capacity labels and volume figures don’t guarantee that a particular pan will fit. Start with the largest meal or cookware item you plan to use, then look for an explicit manufacturer fit example and compare it with the pan’s actual outside dimensions, including handles.
KitchenAid’s 2025 size guide describes toaster-oven capacities ranging from 0.3 to 1.0 cubic feet and notes that some countertop ovens fit a 9 x 13-inch pan. How to check whether an oven will fit your kitchen
- Measure the counter. Check the usable width and depth where the oven will sit. For the BLACK+DECKER TO3265XSSD, the listed exterior footprint is 23 inches wide by 21.5 inches long; allow additional room if its manual requires it.
- Check vertical space. Measure from the counter to cabinets or shelves above the intended location. The listed BLACK+DECKER height is 11.2 inches; the Oster 10 Function oven is approximately 14.3 inches high according to the manufacturer’s posted dimensions.
- Read the exact model’s manual for clearances. Follow its requirements for ventilation and spacing. The cited sources do not establish one clearance figure that applies to all toaster ovens.
- Verify cookware dimensions. Measure the pan across its widest outside edges, including handles, and compare with the exact model’s stated fit. A 9 x 13-inch pan’s nominal cooking surface or label alone may not reflect the space it occupies.
Choose functions you will use

A practical way to compare candidates
- Food and cookware: Identify the largest regular item you need to cook and look for an explicit manufacturer fit example.
- Footprint and clearance: Compare exterior width, depth, and height with your counter and the spacing required by the model’s manual.
- Functions: Prioritize modes you will actually use, such as air frying or dehydrate, rather than selecting by feature count.
- Accessories: Check what is included, such as racks, pans, baskets, or a crumb tray, and whether those accessories suit your cooking needs.
- Evidence: Treat capacity and mode descriptions as manufacturer specifications.
